Absolutely rubbish food! The carrot and parsnip soup tasted like canned soup and the wagyu burger could have easily been any average Angus burger. The quality of the food doesn’t reflect the price!
Although, they do very good red wine. The Pinot Noir - New Zealand is worth every sip and penny!
Being Xmas restaurant was very busy service not as good as usual but to be fair staff coped well
Great place and lovely food. Friendly staff. Spot on.
Amazing food! Would recommend to anyone. Staff very friendly. Some decor wasn’t to my taste but still a fantastic setting
Good food staff lovely but not a busy time. Also quite cold
Food good ambience good service a bit slow to start but then good
One of the best steaks we have ever had. Great service and ambience. Definitely recommend and will visit again
Great all round only thing I would criticise is that the tables are a bit close together so you can feel a bit cramped if it’s busy. Massively helpful and friendly staff.
You cannot have a restaurant with a single toilet. I paid too much to be waiting 10min to wash my hands before I eat. I'd expect this from a train station, not a restaurant serving a £10 glass of champagne.
I booked this restaurant to dine with some good friends we don't live local so relied on the website and hoped i had chosen well. The name of this restaurant suggested to me that it was a place to ... drink in a champagne bar then go for dinner in the restaurant afterwards, so it was a big let down when we walked in, you could think you had walked into a small takeaway restaurant with a tiny bar there was no bar seating at all. The staff were absolutely fine and friendly but the fact was there was no where to sit pre-dinner so we ended up in a trendy new bar / cafe around the corner. We did consider cancelling our reservation however we did go back for dinner and the food was good.
We went on a Saturday night and as it is quite a small room the large party of birthday revellers did disturb us initially. However they left and we were able to enjoy a wonderful meal , in peace. There were six of us and every one was impressed by the quality of the food. The service was very good too. Would return but perhaps midweek or at lunchtime.
Amazing food (scallops are the best I’ve tasted) and fabulous service.
I have eaten at silkroom multiple times the first time I ate here was probably around a year ago. Every time I have visited again since then it is slowly rolling down hill. Quality of food. Even flavouring and proportion sizes. The lamb as a main course was what I ordered the first time I went and it was beautiful I think that may be the only good thing on the menu..
I booked the table for a special family occasion and it was a delightful experience for everyone concerned. I would definitely recommend the Silk Room , apart from not having cutlery made in Sheffield I could not find fault with it! Well done, we shall return.
Excellent food. Great service. Sadly not very busy so lacked a bit of atmosphere
Nice restaurant, warm welcome, excellent food and very good portions of food. Will be coming back for sure.
Nice service and well presented , tasteful dishes.
Very impressed. The staff were very attentive and friendly. I had heard the food was great and it did not disappoint. It was very fresh with good flavours and perfect portion sizes. Thorough drinks menu too with good quality wines. Would highly recommend this establishment.
Been coming for years. Always brilliant with delicious food and friendly service.
The food was amazing, brilliant music and fantastic service. Surprisingly good value too. Have already recommended it to many people and will definitely return!
Took 20 mins to be asked what we would like to drink, service was awful food was ok but overpriced and i put down a special request for our anniversary which was ignored, have wanted to try this place for ages really excited. Such a let down
Amazing food but very poor service. So dissapointed
Greeted nicely by the chap at the door and promptly shown to our table. Service was reasonable thoughout our meal but I found the restaurant really quiet and lacking atmosphere with the same Michael Buble album playing in the background. The food was on the pricier end of the scale, which is partly why I’d picked the restaurant as I was expected it to be very good but it was an average experience. Food quality was ok but for what you paid the portion sizes were on the small side and to charge £2.50 per person extra for peppercorn sauce when you’re already paying £25 each for a steak (albeit a good size) and some potato wedges is very disappointing. Vine ripened tomatoes didn’t come on the vine with a small bunch of rocket as the side salad.
Chose to go straight for a main and save ourselves for a dessert but when the dessert menu appeared it was very uninspiring, so opted against it.
Second visit, both times excellent, will definitely be going again.
Booked an early evening menu of 3 courses on Saturday night of 28th October 18. Poor table choice initially given when we were the first customers in restaurant. Slightly better but table was too small. Food was excellent and bottle of Verve Cliquot brilliantly chilled and served. First impressions very good and certainly return and also happy to recommend.
Brilliant evening with great food and lovely service! Will be back next month when I return to Newcastle.
5 stars! It was so nice to go out for dinner and not be disappointed. I didn't know what to expect when I booked but Silk Room delivered on all fronts. The food was delicious, our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable and the atmosphere was intimate and relaxed. Great value too for what we had. Will return soon. Thanks Silk Room :-)
Too closterphobic. Tables were too close together and could not have a private conversation. Menu was limited and poor food. Did not enjoy the evening. Could not wait to get out. My recommendation would be 21 next door. Amazing atmosphere and excellent food.
Great food and service and lovely free cocktail as it was a special occasion
We thoroughly enjoyed our date night at Silk Room. The food was tasty and flavoursome. Service was excellent, friendly and timed just right. Would recommend to anyone.
Great experience, great service, great food! 👌🏻
We had a amazing evening with a good wine, Late 70s music, tasty food and gentle service. We will come again.
Superb food and a great place. Service is slow if you’re in a hurry but we tend to go for birthday or anniversary meals so are happy to spend plenty time there. Not cheap but worth every penny, a lovely treat!
We had a brilliant meal at Silk Room celebrating my fiance's birthday. I can recommend the kangaroo fillet steak!! Service was second to none, i would definately recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates good food.
Menu was spot on & the food was outstanding. First class service to compliment the night. Will definitely return.
Silk Room is an excellent restaurant. We go alot, and have never yet been disappointed. The local fillet steak and lobster are the highlights. Keep up the good work!
An enjoyable evening with 14 colleagues. Menu options were good and service was friendly and informal.
Food was amazing and staff excellent. If only they had the crime brûlée it would have finished off a perfect evening
God was uninspiring and bland. I was expecting a lot mor after reading the reviews. We had a long wait for our mains. Table staff very polite and helpful.
Sorry. Its dreadful. The staff are good, but
- Wobbly table held steady by napkin and veneer peeling off
- 4 king prawns in the starter for £9.99 (expensive)
- Lamb shank (its £4 from brakes) at £18 ;-(
- £100 quid for two ppl.
- my partners £24.99 fillet was very poor, looked like pedigree chum
Sorry. there needs to be a lot of improvement here.
