Well is a shame cuz was okay but the service charge was wayyyy to much ,like 20% we didn't accept to pay it. Shame cuz it did ruin our meal, wine was extensive too. Wouldn't go again. Plus was my partners birthday but they weren't bothered even to say a happy birthday. Same
We made a booking for of us for lunch but when we got there the restaurant was closed. We called and they said they had no chef.
They made no attempt to let us know on the day, which would have been the polite thing to do.
The food was excellent but our evening was spoilt due to high level of noise from tables around us. Great if you want to drink and don't mind the noise but not if you want to have a conversation
We apologies for the level of noise that made your dining experience less than enjoyable. Generally our restaurant isn't noisy, and hope you will give us another try. Regards, Shafiul
Lovely food, great service. As I work locally, I will be going back.
Hello Ellie, Thank you for your leaving us a lovely review-its much appreciated. Regards, Shafiul
The location is great as it is just by London Bridge station. The restaurant is downstairs in a closed-off room so not great for the summer months but ideal for the majority of the year when it's dark and cold! The seating can be a little close to each other and the decor is uninspiring. If you book and can, request a seat against the wall where it is padded - otherwise you get the very hard seats which I never understand restaurants have, unless they don't want you to stay too long! The food was great quality, moderate portions but enough, that made up for the uncomfortable seating and uninspiring decor.
Dabreo, Thank you for leaving us a review. We agree with your assessment of furniture which we inherited when we took over 14 months ago. We are hoping to modernise the restaurant soon and have taken your comments on board. In the meantime, hope you will carry on supporting us, and look forward to seeing you soon. Regards, Shafiul
Not bad as far as a curry goes, have had better. Drinks overpriced.
Thank you for leaving us a review, love to know how we could improve. Please do get in touch with us firstname.lastname@example.org. Regards, Shafiul
The food was very good and the service was very attentive. Plenty of vegetarian options.
JenniferS, Thank you for you kind review, its much appreciated. Regards Shafiul
One if the best Indian meals I have ever had. The food was outstanding, excellent service, and courteous staff. Would highly recommend.
BarbaraL, Thank you for your review, Really pleased to hear of your positive experience. We hope to see you soon. Regards, Shafiul
Went here for a casual business lunch. Booked based on largely positive reviews on open table. The place was totally empty so atmosphere and ambiance were lacking - in stark contrast to nearby restaurants where customers were queuing round the block. Despite the lack of any other customers, the service was slow and unfriendly. The food took longer to arrive than I would have expected, even if it had been prepared from scratch (which I strongly suspect wasn’t the case). When it arrived, the food was perfectly fine, although one of my guests was given lamb when he had ordered chicken. A replacement was made, but grudgingly rather than with any kind of apology for the mistake. Whilst the food was ok, it certainly didn’t look or taste freshly prepared and the prices were overly high such that I would not have been happy paying out of my own pocket.
Overall I was unimpressed and would not return. Sorry.
Ok for lunch friendly staff
Thank you for your review!
Friendly and prompt service.
Clean and efficient kitchen - can be seen through a partition window.
And good value for such a central location.
London Bridge and Bermondsey are surprisingly poor for modern Indian food, especially for vegetarians, but Silka was excellent. The food is freshly cooked, and the spices were strong and well-used to differentiate the different dishes. Would recommend eating the small plates to get a taste of the full range of what they cook. The bill was not expensive, and the staff (thought they had a lot to do) were friendly.
Lovely food and great service. The food was well presented and we were made to feel very welcome.
Nice place, good food and decent prices. Staff were nice too.
Great food and service. Varied menu of old favourites and dishes to discover. Very much enjoyed it and will be returning soon.
It took time to find the entrance to the restaurant but once you descend the stairs you are greeted with the aroma of wonderful food. We were promptly seated and attended to. The service was professional and friendly. The food was mouthwatering and excellent value. Quickly the restaurant filled up with the buzz of a groups meeting after work. In summary, a popular restaurant that deserves its high rating for food and atmosphere.
This is the umpteenth time I’ve eaten here and for the first time I was a tad disappointed. The service, as usual, was excellent my friend had a lovely curry which he enjoyed very much. Sadly, the dish I ordered, Vegetable Biryani, was below par. It was basically a large bowl if rice with so few vegetables in it that I counted them. Six in total four bits of potato (in rice?) and four cauliflower stalks. I ate it. I was hungry. But if that’s the way they serve it I shall avoid this dish in future.
I absolutely loved this restaurant the staff
Are really friendly and the food was good
There are some things on the menu that are quite spicy .For me that was amazing but for others not so much but overall this experiance was very good after my meal the waiter gave me a free ice-cream and I enjoyed having something to cool my mouth down with. Karl age 10
Food very tasty. Menu limited which in an Indian is a sign of good quality.
First class Indian food, very well presented with friendly staff.
Will visit again and recommend friends.
Booked a table last minute on New Year's Eve. Very friendly staff and excellent food. Will highly recommend
The food was some of the best Indian food I have ever had, all freshly made. We will definitely be back!
Always good. Waiters excellent. I also go to Est.India and Mango for years
Gorgeous food and great service
Always enjoy a nice for dinner here. Good service and great food.
Venue is nothing special but nice and not too loud... the food is absolutely delicious
Fabulous find, great food and staff were really nice and pleasant!! Wanted to return the following day but they were closed!! Their day off!! Will return again.
If there was an a option not to leave any stars I would have chosen it as when we got there there was a note on the door saying closed for maintenance!
Dear Maggiel, We sincerely apologiese for the inconveinece caused by the water leak in the restaurant. Please get in touch with us on email@example.com so we can make this right. regards, Silka
Not much to look at but food was outstanding. My wife thought the coconut prawn dish she ordered was one of he best restaurant meals she ever had. My brogan josh was very good also.
If you take the Underground to London Bridge station and after leaving the station have walked more than a dozen steps without seeing the restaurant's sign - you have either walked the wrong way from the statistical or are on the wrong side of the road. It is very close to the station exit.
Good curry after a night out
We booked Silka on the basis of the reviews and were not disappointed. The food just fantastic. Great veggi selection and also good for vegans but the meat eaters in our party were also delighted with their choices.
This is not a quiet restaurant, in a busy Saturday night there are large family groups with kids. Or that is what we experienced. We loved this as we where also a big family group so worked well.
Service is good despite how busy the place was and although we did not have any the puddings looked good as well.
Although the menu doesn’t have a vegan section our waiter was extremely helpful in checking which dishes were in fact vegan and I was offered a number dishes which were suitable. The food was great value for money and delicious. I would definitely return if in the area. Very grateful to have such a helpful waiter.
Fantastic food, great service, highly recommend Silka
Amazing, loved the food, such great quality for the price and super tasty! Service was excellent too!
The food was excellent, even though the restaurant was quiet. The service great too and really appreciated the complementary short we were offered. Pity about the damp patches and smells in this basement restaurant but excellent value given its location in Borough market.
As First timers in London we heard about how delicious the Indian food was and Silka did not disappoint. Each dish contained all of the flavors we imagined in Indian cuisine and pleased our palates perfectly (say THAT three times fast). The service and attention we received was the icing on the cake. If we ever make it back across the pond this place will definitely be a go to!
Checked out the menu before we went, and on arrival found a completely different more expensive menu? No atmosphere but waiter was very helpful. We were told that we would not find find our usual choices within the menu, I had the chicken Chennai which was smoky, spicy and I enjoyed it, but portions were small for the price, would not rush back.
Restaurant was patient as we had to change the numbers twice. Smart decor with a fine dining ambience. They advertise ayurvedic food but all I can say was that the food was mildly spiced and not greasy. Service was cordial and attentive. Only complaint was that one of the toilets was out of action due to a light not working.
Unfortunately, not the greatest of places but only for one reason... they could have been training astronauts. No atmosphere.
Wary of the previous reviews for Silka but encouraged the by news of new managemet (the group who own Mango and Est India) I decided to take a gamble and booked a table for a casual mid week dinner and it most certainly paid off.
The food was excellent, every dish served was well seasoned, rich and full of spice, the hot tandoori starter and Makhani chicken are a strong recommendation along with a warm freshly baked naan to clean up anything the cutlery missed.
The service was swift and efficient with friendly staff ready to help with any questions about the menu or make a recommendation. A personal greeting by the owner at the end of the meal was also appreciated and a nice touch.
The menu is simple and to the point providing an A list of some of the cuisine’s best and most exotic dishes, opposed to phone book of chef specials (a personal pet peeve)
There is a nice enough atmosphere but Silka is definitely in need of a make over to add some colour to the aged white walls making it feel less like a bunker and more of a hidden gem.
Price wise it is on the more expensive side but the quality of the food is also very good, so as most things in life value is also in the eye of the beholder.
I will definitely be returning to Silka based on my first experience here, and would recommend anyone else to give this place a try.
