We ate al fresco in Borough Market which was a nice experience.
Intimate curryhouse under new management - good varied menu. For the price was expecting food and service differentiating itself from other Indian restaurants, but would not rate above others
What a little gem. Great authentic food and really good service. We will definitely be back
the food is good but too spicy for children. Too much noise in the restaurant.
Average . Nothing exciting .
Delicious curry, smallish restaurant down stairs so good in the evenings as the lighting doesn't matter. Service was prompt and food was great!
The people who seated us and asked for our order were verging on rude "What do you want?" is an unusual way to take an order. The place was very busy - we were asked to leave our seats almost as soon as we'd finished our meal. Everything tasted of tabasco. We won't go back. Interesting that on TripAdvisor they only respond to positive feedback - I think they should start to take on board the more negative reviews.
Came for lunch on a Friday and quickly realised it was more of an evening place as we were the only table. Food was delicious and good value but overshadowed by rude waiter who didn’t convey that a large number of drinks on the menu weren’t available, and once we had paid we were told to leave!!
Good quality food ruined by poor service
Excellent food and service. Good main size portions and quick to bring extra naan
Thank you Allyouneediswine, for leaving us a review. Please to hear you enjoyed your evening at Silka! Look forward to seeing you again soon. Regards, Shafiul
Fantastic food and excellent service. Recommend without reservation to anyone who appreciates fine Indian cooking.
Thanks Kathy, Appreciate your feed back. We lokforward to welcoming you back soon. Regards, Shafiul
The experience was appalling! Waiters were rude and impatient. We were kept waiting for quite some time before getting seated even though we had a booking and many tables were free at the time. Service was very slow - it took almost 45min for the first dish to arrive and the second dish was undercooked. It took a while for the bill to be settled as well. The waiter just grabbed the credit card from my hand and tossed it back after the payment - completely and utterly disgraceful!
Great food and a great atmosphere
Appreciate you leaving a comment. Pleased you enjoyed our food. Look forward to seeing you gain.
Well is a shame cuz was okay but the service charge was wayyyy to much ,like 20% we didn't accept to pay it. Shame cuz it did ruin our meal, wine was extensive too. Wouldn't go again. Plus was my partners birthday but they weren't bothered even to say a happy birthday. Same
Hi ChristinaD, We add a discratinary 12.5% to the bill, you are in no obligation to pay that. We can't just figure out how it ruined your meal, as our staff do not ever insist on service charge. We apologise the waiter didn't wish your partner Happy Birthday. A cake is on us on his next, please do get in touch with us.
We made a booking for of us for lunch but when we got there the restaurant was closed. We called and they said they had no chef.
They made no attempt to let us know on the day, which would have been the polite thing to do.
The food was excellent but our evening was spoilt due to high level of noise from tables around us. Great if you want to drink and don't mind the noise but not if you want to have a conversation
We apologies for the level of noise that made your dining experience less than enjoyable. Generally our restaurant isn't noisy, and hope you will give us another try. Regards, Shafiul
Lovely food, great service. As I work locally, I will be going back.
Hello Ellie, Thank you for your leaving us a lovely review-its much appreciated. Regards, Shafiul
The location is great as it is just by London Bridge station. The restaurant is downstairs in a closed-off room so not great for the summer months but ideal for the majority of the year when it's dark and cold! The seating can be a little close to each other and the decor is uninspiring. If you book and can, request a seat against the wall where it is padded - otherwise you get the very hard seats which I never understand restaurants have, unless they don't want you to stay too long! The food was great quality, moderate portions but enough, that made up for the uncomfortable seating and uninspiring decor.
Dabreo, Thank you for leaving us a review. We agree with your assessment of furniture which we inherited when we took over 14 months ago. We are hoping to modernise the restaurant soon and have taken your comments on board. In the meantime, hope you will carry on supporting us, and look forward to seeing you soon. Regards, Shafiul
Not bad as far as a curry goes, have had better. Drinks overpriced.
Thank you for leaving us a review, love to know how we could improve. Please do get in touch with us email@example.com. Regards, Shafiul
The food was very good and the service was very attentive. Plenty of vegetarian options.
JenniferS, Thank you for you kind review, its much appreciated. Regards Shafiul
One if the best Indian meals I have ever had. The food was outstanding, excellent service, and courteous staff. Would highly recommend.
BarbaraL, Thank you for your review, Really pleased to hear of your positive experience. We hope to see you soon. Regards, Shafiul
Went here for a casual business lunch. Booked based on largely positive reviews on open table. The place was totally empty so atmosphere and ambiance were lacking - in stark contrast to nearby restaurants where customers were queuing round the block. Despite the lack of any other customers, the service was slow and unfriendly. The food took longer to arrive than I would have expected, even if it had been prepared from scratch (which I strongly suspect wasn’t the case). When it arrived, the food was perfectly fine, although one of my guests was given lamb when he had ordered chicken. A replacement was made, but grudgingly rather than with any kind of apology for the mistake. Whilst the food was ok, it certainly didn’t look or taste freshly prepared and the prices were overly high such that I would not have been happy paying out of my own pocket.
Overall I was unimpressed and would not return. Sorry.
Ok for lunch friendly staff
Thank you for your review!
Friendly and prompt service.
Clean and efficient kitchen - can be seen through a partition window.
And good value for such a central location.
London Bridge and Bermondsey are surprisingly poor for modern Indian food, especially for vegetarians, but Silka was excellent. The food is freshly cooked, and the spices were strong and well-used to differentiate the different dishes. Would recommend eating the small plates to get a taste of the full range of what they cook. The bill was not expensive, and the staff (thought they had a lot to do) were friendly.
Lovely food and great service. The food was well presented and we were made to feel very welcome.
Nice place, good food and decent prices. Staff were nice too.
Great food and service. Varied menu of old favourites and dishes to discover. Very much enjoyed it and will be returning soon.
It took time to find the entrance to the restaurant but once you descend the stairs you are greeted with the aroma of wonderful food. We were promptly seated and attended to. The service was professional and friendly. The food was mouthwatering and excellent value. Quickly the restaurant filled up with the buzz of a groups meeting after work. In summary, a popular restaurant that deserves its high rating for food and atmosphere.
This is the umpteenth time I’ve eaten here and for the first time I was a tad disappointed. The service, as usual, was excellent my friend had a lovely curry which he enjoyed very much. Sadly, the dish I ordered, Vegetable Biryani, was below par. It was basically a large bowl if rice with so few vegetables in it that I counted them. Six in total four bits of potato (in rice?) and four cauliflower stalks. I ate it. I was hungry. But if that’s the way they serve it I shall avoid this dish in future.
I absolutely loved this restaurant the staff
Are really friendly and the food was good
There are some things on the menu that are quite spicy .For me that was amazing but for others not so much but overall this experiance was very good after my meal the waiter gave me a free ice-cream and I enjoyed having something to cool my mouth down with. Karl age 10
Food very tasty. Menu limited which in an Indian is a sign of good quality.
First class Indian food, very well presented with friendly staff.
Will visit again and recommend friends.
Booked a table last minute on New Year's Eve. Very friendly staff and excellent food. Will highly recommend
The food was some of the best Indian food I have ever had, all freshly made. We will definitely be back!
Always good. Waiters excellent. I also go to Est.India and Mango for years
Gorgeous food and great service
Always enjoy a nice for dinner here. Good service and great food.
Venue is nothing special but nice and not too loud... the food is absolutely delicious
Fabulous find, great food and staff were really nice and pleasant!! Wanted to return the following day but they were closed!! Their day off!! Will return again.
If there was an a option not to leave any stars I would have chosen it as when we got there there was a note on the door saying closed for maintenance!
