Keep coming back as the food is very good. Not like your normal Indian. Sauces freshly prepared and flavourful (not swimming in thick ghee). Slightly more expensive than you would imagine for a restaurant where you bring your own drinks but then again this is London and the Tesco express is very handy (just around the corner).
The food was good, and the value was great. We had a table reserved at 18:30, and were the only folks in the restaurant, but by 19:00 there were no free tables.
You should remove Simply Indian from Open Table. They did not honour our booking, which fundamentally undermines the Open Table service.
We booked for 7pm, which was available on your app only to be called be the restaurant to say that the time was not available and to come at 7:30pm. We were then asked to stand outside the restaurant and we not allowed to enter until 7:45 pm. Halfway through our meal we were asked to move tables so a larger group could take our spot and we were put in a very small space.
The restaurant is greedy and does not honour their commitments.
We have been to this restaurant on a number of occasions now and have always enjoyed the experience. Excellent South Indian food and BYO (from the supermarket around the corner) an added bonus. A little gem not far from London Bridge.
Not a good experience, pre booked and were given a table by the window, then asked to move after we had been served our starter to make room for a bigger party. Waiter couldn’t offer alternatives for a vegetarian who wanted a milder dish than the spicy one on offer. Food was average, spicy hot but little real flavour. Took an age to get the bill, more interested in the bigger party that arrived. Wouldn’t go back.
Weekday lunch at 12 wasn't busy. Goat curry was excellent. Parota was nice and flaky and went well with the goat curry. Service was relaxed. The prawn curry was good, but the goat curry was much better. Nice cosy restaurant.
Amazing food at an affordable price! We hadn't planned to go to this place and it was a great find :)
A very rude dining experience; we arrived on time and were just told to wait outside. It was raining. After 15 minutes waiting, I informed the manager that this was absolutely terrible service and we were leaving.
Delicious authentic food, intimidate venue - highly recommended!
Oh my goodness! This food is insanely delicious. I lived in South India for four years (having grown up in London) and I have finally found a masala dosa in London to rival those you get in India. Love that you can bring your own drinks with no corkage charge as it makes the meal even more reasonably priced. I’m just going to have to go back. Very soon!!
Brilliant little friendly Indian restaurant that is great value and tasty too. The fact it’s BYO is Super and on top of that they don’t charge corkage so it’s a real winner value wise with fabulous background music!
Just st far too much chilli - so much hotter than used to NW & less fragrant.
Food was absolutely delicious and we all had a lot of fun. The staff were very accommodating and made the evening even better.
Ideal if you fancy a starter and main in under 15nins..
Lovely little India restaurant in Borough, London Bridge.
This restaurant was a very nice surprise; we were a little doubtful when we first arrived but it was actually really nice. DEFINITELY go in!
Very attentive staff - not pushy or in a hurry, but there when needed. Only small restaurant but quickly full and a very mice atmosphere.
It's a 'take your own alcohol' restaurant but there is a Sainsbury's just a few minutes walk and other places to buy from as well.
There was a good selection on the menu and it all came quickly and with out fuss.
It was a very reasonable price - meal for three with starter, main and pud all for less than £20 a head (plus your own wine).
No music - bliss.
It's just across the road from Borough Underground station and plenty of buses closeby, too.
Less than 10 minutes walk to London Bridge.
All in all a really good restaurant and well worth going to for a great night.
Have been to this restaurant many times since 2007 and enjoyed the great food and service. However this time it was not good at all. The food was very poor. On top of that they asked us to move tables or leave after 1.5 hours (during dessert) claiming we had exceeded our slot and needed to give table to someone else.
Will not go back again on the basis the food is poor and the service is disappointing to say the least.
Great food, attentive staff. Going the extra mile to pick us up from the pub next door when our table was ready, means fully worthy of the 5*s! Thanks for a lovely evening.
The food was good, but we were specifically asked if we wanted rice and we agreed. It then transpired that our meals included rice. We felt cheated and did not enjoy our meal. The waiter should have not charged us for the extra rice, but instead looked a little smug.
This meant we spent an extra £12 on our meal, which in turn made it quite expensive. We left with a very sour taste in our mouths.
It is a shame, because had this not happened I would have visited the restaurant again as I am a local.
We booked a reservation and they ended up seating us an hour late. We asked if they were going to do anything for us for the delay and they were rude and basically blamed it on other guest staying late. The food is good but the some of the staff are very entitled. We won't be going back.
Fantastic food, Kerelan chef so really interesting menu with dishes that are hard to find (such as dosas). Great service and BYOB makes this unbelievable value. Would go again
Having been before and really enjoyed Simply Indian, I was really let down this time. Despite it not being at all busy we felt really rushed to order as soon as we walked in. I was then brought the wrong food (being told it was what we ordered) and when the staff realised they just took the bread out of my hand, chucked it on the table whilst they cleared it away. At the end of the meal they also brought us the wrong bill (a matter thatbwas quickly resolved when we pointed this out). The food - when it came - was tasty, though, so it did have its redeeming features.
Great food for a great price!!
Our family had a wonderful experience. We all ordered separate dishes that arrived hot and at the same time. Several fellows waited on the table making it easy to ask questions about items on the plate. The manager truly loves food and the experience you should be receiving. My suggestion would be make reservations. It has a small dining area which functions well, but has limited space. Maybe 10 tables. With that said, they accommodated our wheelchair with ease. Finally the food was fantastic. Great flavors without overwhelming the senses.
Great food, seemed genuinely 'home made'. Delicious and refined but not pretentious.. Hidden gem.
Food was very good and slightly unusual for Indian cuisine in that it is largely Kerulan which you don't normally find.
One surprise was that it has no license so if you want some wine etc with your meal you will have to take it along, though depending on the time of day there is a nearby pub and a couple of supermarkets where you can find something to take along.
Excellent food - authentic cuisine with beautiful crisp masala dosa and gorgeous thalis with all the trimmings. Unusual regional special from Sri Lanka which was excellent. Been twice, both times delicious. It's simply decorated, small and intimate inside. It's BYOB and incredibly good value. You can also wait for a table across the road at the pub then bring your drinks over when ready as they have an agreement with the pub. Real gem.
The food was very good though the service could be better! If you have a food intolerance make sure you check with the staff about ingredients as the menu has some mistakes.
Great neighborhood find, excellent value and delicious food!
Surprisingly great food, well prepared and presented, very different to the standard curry house fare. Great value and highly recommended.
The food was excellent as was the service! Well worth the 20min tube ride. They even helped us bring our own wine by telling us about the grocery store around the corner.
Thanks for the lovely evening!
Very relaxed and easy going Indian just off of Borough High Street. It is quite a small establishment, but the intimacy works well. Whilst the menu has many of the traditional "British" takes in Indian good, the presentation and general quality is good. Fun, simple and good value.
One of Londons finest and a terrific value. The Thali is a must!
Very small restaurant but great food and service. Prices are higher than those stated on the attached menu, roughly 20% higher so not as good value as we expected. Portions are fairly small but very tasty and we left sufficiently full and satisfied!
This is a small restaurant which in itself is cramped. There was a set menu for £20 which was ok but limited, but the way the food was served was "different" (effectively on a salvo). There is no licence which makes a big cost difference and the is a Tesco Metro round the corner.
Great little find only a moments throw from Borough Station! It's BYOB which is fab ! Really great menu with lots too choose from and from a variety of regions and little twists ! Chicken Samosa's were delicious and the Chicken Masala Dosa was amazing ! Very friendly and great value really enjoyed our visit !!
Great value meal for a large group of us. They went out of their way to make it feel like a birthday celebration
Excellent fresh tasting food, great service. Menu good variety of veg and non veg with interesting choices. All the food tasted really authentic, a hidden gem
This is my local restaurant on my doorstep. The service was great and friendly and the staff are lovely. They will accommodate your needs. I asked if they could recommend a dish and the waiter did, it was lovely . The dim light created a lovely atmosphere, myself and partner felt at home.
Delicious food, great prices, and incredibly friendly staff. Some of the best Indian food we have ever had!
