Very lovely place will be back for sure! It would appeal to me if they did more cocktails rather than just 3. We were served by this lovely girl with ginger hair and a fringe I think Ella? She made us feel so comfortable and was so helpful to our menu queries. She made us feel so comfortable and like we weren’t a bother by asking for maple syrup that didn’t originally come with it. It was a delight here.
We have tried Six a few times and in the evening there seems to be something lacking.
The food was very average and the menu choice was very poor.
The ‘Provence rose’ was not a normal quality Provence and actually some region ‘near’
Over all quite disappointing and a shame because it seems to have been slipping for a while yet has the ability to be the best place to eat in Hove
Well normally I love six but I took my sister for brunch so we could get our favourite brunch however for the second time in a row we were told they’re still not doing half the menu which you don’t know until you get there so we left to get what we wanted elsewhere however it’s not the staffs fault and they were very friendly, understanding and accommodating. Was such a shame to start our day like that though when we had travelled far and we were so excited :/
Took ages for coffees to arrive.
Lots of mistakes on menu.
What is a mackerel mushroom?
Appalling, but where to start? Upon arrival, service was offhand (e.g. we weren’t taken to our table, it was pointed at to us). A long wait for first course (40 minutes). Calamari was okay, but the beetroot tartare was so overburdened with cumin it made it inedible. A further long wait for the mains (pappardelle - the fish option -again around 40 minutes) proved to be a clash of wrestling flavours, but mainly dominated by the taste of brine from jarred olives and far from appetising. This was washed down with a Sauvignon blanc (vin de pays d’Oc which would have been expensive at half the menu price) and weak Aperol Spritzes… In the end, the restaurant knew it had given a poor service and we were not charged for food and neither were the table next to us who had a similarly long wait for food served cold. Will not return.
Amazing food and service, beautiful interior and ambience; will definitely be returning here again on our next vacation to Brighton!
Gave it a try but wouldn’t return here. So many restaurants in Brighton employ young staff that don’t understand the basics of decent service. Once seated you expect a menu and a drinks order pretty quickly but they seated us then forgot us. This has happened in other places too. The food was strange, charging £16 for a bowl with a small amount of gooey rice and a few bits of cold veg is pushing it. The poke bowl should be £10 tops. The strange mix of warm rice with semi warm aubergine and cold chunks of sweet potato, a winter root veg which doesn’t feel very Hawaiian, with Mediterranean bits of what felt liked cannned tinned tomato, didn’t go there, with Mediterranean basil and slices of sweet picked veg (that bit was nice) with bits of gherkin from a jar, was a mish mash that made me feel sick after. Make it more authentic as a dish and put some love into it. If it’s a cold dish make is all cold, if it’s a warm dish, all warm, not one mouthful warm and another cold. For £16 I’d expect something really really good. £16 is like a evening price for an amazing fish dish. The only place in Hove that I trust to understand authentic flavours and create delicious food with love, and do grown up relaxed service is fourth and church.
Took my parents for dinner here and had the loveliest evening. We weren't rushed through our meal at all despite Six being a popular and busy restaurant. Our waitress, India, was utterly delightful and so helpful!! She also recommended the melting moment desserts which we can in turn all recommend. Delicious cocktails - good choices including traditional cocktails and Six recipes for too.
What a great evening, the food was absolutely excellent. (The pickled celery of all things provoking particular delight!)
The service was outstanding and our waitress Xiomora and her colleagues deserve particular recognition for the way they kept our boisterous evening flowing, and seamlessly dealt with and replaced a less than perfect Melting Moment dessert.
Many thanks guys
we will be back
Smaller parties, beware…
We made our reso a few weeks before we arrived, and indicated it was a special occasion on the booking. Despite this, when we (2) arrived we were tucked away next to a service station in the back of the restaurant, and were ignored by all staff passing by after were sat. After 15 minutes, I finally flagged down a staff who then told us to wait until she could help, another 5 minutes.
We noticed other parties of 4/5 who were sat after us get their drink orders taken and delivered before anyone noticed us, and honestly it soured the rest of the meal for us.
Food was delivered quickly, (and it was tasty, though we were disappointed with the lack of variety for vegans) and then again we were ignored for 20+ minutes until again we had to flag a server down to order more drinks; which took 10 minutes to arrive! We felt completely overlooked especially when neighboring tables of more people were visited without any need to ask.
When we asked for our bill it came almost instantly, and same for the card reader to pay. It was disappointing to feel completely neglected throughout the meal only to be happily ushered off our table (again, a special occasion booked in advance).
We read such good things about the restaurant online and wanted a special brunch experience to match the pricepoint, but unfortunately it seemed as a table of 2 we were not important enough to take care of. We had much better experiences, friendlier service and more imaginative food for a lower cost elsewhere in Brighton.
Small parties of veggies, beware, this was not worth our money.
Bitterly disappointed yesterday with Six, despite having been there before several times we were shocked at how bad the serve has become. From the beginning we suspected this wasn’t going to be a good experience as were greeted by a extremely indifferent front of house. We were given menus ant then we waited and waited to be served. Alas no one came and despite trying to catch the eye of the staff we were not able to get them to serve us. During our wait other patrons who were seated inside proceeded to come outside and smoke. After 30 mins of being sat there, smoked out we decided to leave. As mentioned we’ve eaten several times here before and recommend to friends as the food is good but yesterday’s experience means we won’t be back again.
Great atmosphere for dinner with friends or a date .good quality food and wine. Was great on a summers evening to have the windows open to the street and enjoy the hum of the town.
This is a very nice restaurant with excellent service. I was disappointed there were not more vegan/vegetarian options. Brighton is a "VEGAN" city and we're looking for more of these choices in restaurants. I'd encourage the management to look at that. There are wonderful choices out there and they don't all have to include the killing of animals.
Thanks for considering!
We usually visit for bottomless prosecco at the weekend. Food and services both excellent as always.
I can't comment on the food as we left before eating after waiting 15 mins for any of the uninterested waiting staff to even take a drink order.
Great breakfasts 👍
Such a lovely chilled atmosphere.
My food unfortunately wasn’t great. Although a poke bowl is served cold it didn’t do it any justice it was refrigerator cold and no flavour apart from pickles. The pork belly was more fatty than usual and the cold sweet potato was really hard. It left me feeling quite unwell actually! I had about 3 mouthfuls and was charged full price which I found quite unfair, although I held my hands up to say I ordered wrong, I feel a small something would have been appreciated like some discount or replacement of the meal. For not eating a thing and paying £26 I found it quite uncomfortable. My friends food seemed nice and warm and our waitress was nice.
Beautiful resturant with a great atmosphere and very accommodating staff.
Incredible food and reasonably priced! Service was amazing, everyone was so friendly, we requested for different food options or add ons and nothing was a problem!! We sat outside, it was sunny and so lovely to be out again! Only thing is a single table is a little small we struggled to fit the plates on but that might be because we ordered lots of food haah!! Overall I couldn’t recommend enough! Will be back soon x
Really lovely staff. Made our date night special amd catered for our custom cocktails. Really amazing experience.
Really lovely brunch and homemade smoothies. Beautifully decorated and perfect for a romantic date.
amazing food, didn’t wait long at all, when food came there was steam coming off it and plates were hot, great value for money would deffo recommend for breakfast!!!
Had the Confit Duck and it was amazing! Everything else was lovely too!
Fantastic restaurant amazing ambiance. Top quality service!
Food and drinks were lovely. Service was brilliant and they really looked after us when they found out it was a special occasion — thank you ☺️
We had such a lovely evening at Six. We had a gorgeous table by the window with a candle on it. The service was exceptional and the food very original and totally delicious. The interior of the restaurant is very beautiful.
Really attentive staff, yummy food and drinks in a beautiful setting.
A beautiful setting and a great brunch menu. Thoroughly enjoyed our brunch and was nice to see a mix of people enjoying SIX
Took an hour & half do get our dinner. It was a table of 6 & two got there food while the rest waited 😔 .
Service and cocktails were fantastic. The calamari was delicious….in fact all the food was delicious except for the duck, which sadly was over fried and very dry….no sauce to moisten the meat
A really nice venue with a lovely breakfast but they were short of staff which meant service was slow and had to wait for drinks for nearly 10 minutes once we had ordered.
Great place to eat. Lovley ambience and the veggie food was perfect. The waiters were all very nice too!
I booked the wrong venue (hove based one not Brighton) but the manager on duty happily found us a table at the restaurant. The service was good and the food was delicious.
Excellent service and great food. Would definitely return
Disappointed as I'd heard such good things for brunch. My eggs were not runny the hollandaise sauce cold.
Very under whelmed.
Had a very nice Brunch experience here in June. It was my girlfriend’s birthday so I requested a ‘Happy Birthday’ message written on a plate in ice cream and they did it! Good food, good price, and a nice atmosphere.
Such a nice place for a 21st drinks. A bit in the spenny side bit so lush other then that!!
The food was amazing at SIX but the serves could of been a lot better.
I have been to six many times and have always enjoyed the food, drinks, interior design & atmosphere. However this meal was disappointing. The menu was so limited, especially for someone who does not eat meat and doesn’t like burgers. It is not clear on the website that the main course food is only available for the evenings, had it stated this I wouldn’t have booked. The service was lovely & the wine and cocktails were great, just the limited menu let you down.
Of course if you want brunch the menu is amazing and I have enjoyed brunch many times, but we wanted a proper lunch menu as it was Father’s Day which is a special occasion. I think you should add more options to the day time menu!
Had a really great evening at Six. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, the duck was delicious and overall value was good. I gave 4 stars for food because the menu is small and I could not find a starter that appealed and my husband did not enjoy the “house only” lager. Small points though - would definitely return.
