Smiths Restaurant Wapping
Smith's, famous for fish, was initially established in 1958 and today offers fine dining facilities. Should you not find the time that you are looking for, please contact the restaurant directly as there may be availability.
Excellent service. The staff were attentive, pleasant, efficient and worked very hard. The food was wonderful. We chose from the set menu and added oysters as an extra. We were very pleased with the food. We had calamari, prawns, hake and skate. The sides of vegetables were cooked to perfection. All in all a very nice experience. We will definitely be going back.
Went for a birthday and absolutely loved the incredible Brixham sole and lobster with lovely appetizers of oysters, scallops, and sashimi. The dessert was a great closing with wonderful apple tartin, banoffee cheesecake, and Black Forest glory. Great cocktails as well and impeccable service with a great view. Lovely experience overall.
Lovely birthday lunch for my sister. The staff were great, super helpful and attentive despite a busy lunch time on Sunday - much improved from my last visit!
Absolutely LOVE Smith's at Wapping, it is without doubt my favourite restaurant. However, with this particular visit there was a very large table celebrating a birthday, and they were extremely loud and noisy which completely spoiled our evening. We could not hear ourselves speaking and the atmosphere was very different to previous visits. I am surprised really that they allow such big parties of "youngsters" in this restaurant.
Beautiful surroundings excellent service and delicious food. The decor and the surroundings were stunning. Staff were attentive, friendly and very accommodating. The set menu was good value for money and the cocktails impeccable.
A fabulous lunch for my birthday celebrations. I will be back.
Service was appalling and staff were not attentive. Food was not as good as it used to be. Perhaps they couldn’t cope when it’s busy.
About the 5th time I’ve been. Can’t wait for the next time.
We love the Smiths in Ongar and have been many times . It is our favourite local restaurant, so we just had to try the Wapping branch. It was wonderful! Beautiful fish as ever , superb choice on the set menu ( not the two or three choices you get in most places) and excellent service from our charming young Italian waitress who was attentive but not intrusive. We had a lovely bottle of Picpoul de Pinet with our lunch and enjoyed the view out across the sailing barges to Butler’s Wharf . Near to lots of good pubs for a pre or post prandial drink ..... Prospect of Whitby, Captain Kidd or Town of Ramsgate . We loved it and will be back . Thanks to all at Smiths in Wapping . Awesome 😎
Amazing dinner again - great, professional service and beautiful food. Only a low score for the noise levels as we were there with my parents and seated unfortunately inbetween two larger groups and the piano, and so we were not able to hear each other very well.
Food cooked to perfection - you could taste the quality and freshness of all the ingredients. Every course cooked to 'perfection'. Service was very good aswell. A culinary festival to all my senses - I will be back.
Lovely romantic evening with my Partner for his birthday. Nice atmosphere with the pianist playing, amazing views of London. We had the evening set meal £35 three course, great value for money. The food is really really good and good size potions. This is our second visit and we will be going again.
Have eaten here many times and again another 1st class experience. I have never had a bad meal in here and will continue to visit.
First time at Smith’s and not our last.
From being greeted to getting to our table all through to the reasonable bill, a great evening.
Even when there was a hiccup - spilt glass of wine - this was replaced by a free bottle. Outstanding.
All the staff worked their socks off for one thing - Customer Satisfaction
Starters were perfection, calamari and prawns. Main was sea bass and steak - both fresh and cooked to perfection. Ginger pudding and custard was traditional excellence
See you again
First visit but have been to Ongar before. Really liked layout and very pleased to be given window table. Great to have round tables. Service was really efficient and also very friendly waiter. Looked after two of us with coeliac very well and the rolls were nicest GF I have had in a restaurant. Only negative would be that we were near service area and with the “hard surfaces “ one member of our party struggled to join in conversation. Fish cooked really well as was the lamb.
All the staff were friendly and really looked after us. The food was amazing. Love this place. Look forward to our next special event to come back.
Lovely food & friendly helpful service
Visited upon recommendation from a friend and was not disappointed from start to finish. Thought the young lady on the reception desk could have been a little more helpful as we left when we enquired about the voucher scheme, which we only knew about because of a sign on a table close to us. Perhaps a leaflet would be of help, but have now reviewed online.
Food and service as always excellent, mixers for drinks very expensive. Overall a very enjoyable afternoon.
Our first visit and certainly not the last. The fish here is fantastic and the service excellent- just the right balance of attentive without being too intrusive.
Cost wise this is more than we usually spend however you get what you pay for 😀
Excellent as always - food, service & experience. Will always recommend
Lovely meal for our anniversary celebration. Never disappointed when we eat at Smiths. Fantastic food and excellent service. Thankyou.
Brilliant lunch with lots of food choices. Lovely restaurant and will be returning soon.
Lovely meal. 2nd time visiting. Will definitely be a 3rd visit
Wonderful food, cooked to perfection and matched with attentive but never overbearing service accompanied by a fantastic view. Smiths never disappoints.
The cordial atmosphere created by the front of house staff is ably backed by up by the quality of food produced by the kitchen. The three course set dinner is one of London's finest values.
I can't recommend this place enough. It is my favourite fish restaurant in London and in the 20 or more times I've been there with lots of different guests there has not been one poor dish.
The staff give impeccable service whilst being friendly.
Nice and lively with good service. Although not fine dining, the level of service is good, and value for money is excellent. Affordable wines and fresh seafood. I’ll come back.
Very good our seventh visit
Service, food excellent
The place never ceases to impress. As soon as we entered the level of attention is excellent. The food and service are superb on a constant basis. All in all a great time!
Really good food, good portions and the set menu is good value for money. Staff are very professional and it's in a nice, peaceful part of London with a nice view. Setting is classic fancy.
THE RESTAURANT IS JUST 100% PERFECT (ALEXA !!!!! )
Dined at Smiths Wapping on bank holiday Sunday , restaurant was packed and a little noisy but that was at no detriment to the super service , delicious food and great views overlooking the Thames and Tower Bridge . The staff recognised the kitchen area was louder than normal and offered us a complimentary drink at the end which was very hospitable. All round fab experience and will definitely return .
Always greeted with a smile, nothing is too much for the staff. Brilliant location, especially on a Sunday when parking is free around the area. We had a great meal and enjoyed every minute of our time there
Great food really good service with fantastic views went for a birthday and had a great evening . We will definitely be going back
Very impressed. I had mentioned on booking that it was our first anniversary and upon arriving we were greeted with ‘Happy Anniversary’. Although it was made clear that our table timeslot was two hours, at no point did we feel rushed and the service was excellent. The food was delicious and the setting perfect. Would definitely recommend to anyone for a special occasion or otherwise. We’ll definitely be returning!
We were so pleased with our special lunch. The food was delightful, and the staff were very attentive but not intrusive
Great service and excellent food and a table for 2 with a stunning view.
Birthday treat - delicious starters very good fish in general though we would not recommend the house speciality of "Arnold Bennet" Hake which is first class beautifully cooked hake somewhat overwhelmed by a smoked haddock and cheese sauce.
The wine list is good but on the pricey side and the service is first class.
Tremendous views of the river Thames and Tower Bridge.
Nearly £100 for two (including two glasses of champagne and three of wine, no dessert and good coffee)
Highly recommended for good quality fish beautifully cooked
Best seafood Resturant and best value in London! Great views and always a favourite for family, friends and business.
This was the best meal we have had in a long time. Fresh seafood, perfectly cooked and pleasant service - all with a view of Tower Bridge. Can't recommend Smiths highly enough.
