Socci at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel
Socci is an urban Italian kitchen with a bar. The interior is set up as a modern version of Old World Italy. There is an open kitchen and outdoor seating along with a chef's tasting room.
Socci serves excellent steaks, fresh pastas and has an extensive wine list. The atmosphere is refined yet casual, and casual business wear is recommended. It's quiet and relaxed environment make it an ideal place to relax with friends or colleagues. Socci's prices are a little on the high side as it is a fine dining restaurant, but given the portion sizes it definitely offers value for money.
I wasn’t impressed with the food. Ordered calimari, hardly any calimari on the plate, bunch of other stuff, just no calimari. Order seafood linguini, but it was way too spicy. Waitress stated chili pepper was on it. Chili pepper? Honestly could not eat it. Just wasn’t impress.
The food is great - the portions are large - the prices are fare - the wait-staff (especially Riley) is polite, attentive, efficient, accommodating & professional. Highly recommend!
Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority
Menu had a wide variety and the prices were very reasonable for a restaurant in the lobby of a hotel. Service was quick and the noise level was surprizingly quiet - possibly because there were few walls for the voices to bounce off. The open area, high ceilings, and decor kept the ambiance quite modern and chique!!
Our server (Victor I think) was absolutely amazing! He was funny, attentive, and helpful. The food was all great, and beautifully presented. The color changing lights are unusual, but the minimalist decor is nice and the atmosphere is relaxing. The cocktails were great - the gin drink with herbs was phenomenal.
This was our first visit to Socci and certainly won't be our last! The atmosphere, service, and food were all absolutely wonderful.
My spouse and I both had delicious salads, pasta dinners and wine. Our waiter, Cristian, was outstanding. He was accommodating and attentive, but not overly attentive. He made the dinner especially enjoyable. He remembered our requests and gauged the timing just right on delivering our food. We will definitely return to Socci the next time that we are in the area.
Appreciated staff who tried to find a table for our party away from the noisy happy hour crowd. Even more appreciation for preparing a low sodium pasta dish for my dietary requirement. Everyone enjoyed their choices and we were able to have conversation while consuming fresh and tasty meals!
too loud - food was good, service was great - music was painful
Arrived with a business associate and was promptly seated. Ordered the Cesar salad and roasted tomato soup. The salad arrived before the soup and at the same time my associates meal arrived. Mix up? Probably more training is needed for the Server.
All the staff was very pleasant and attentative. Our server was very friendly and charming and made our dining experience very pleasant.
I work in the area and have been there for lunch 3 or 4 times. The food is always delicious...and the service is always terrible. I don't know if it's the kitchen that is slow or the servers that are the problem, but I no longer think it's a fluke. This needs to be fixed.
We are over 55...so bear in mind what we think is noisy is not too loud for others. First, the two gals we have had as servers were personable and added to the experience. Calamari, salads, salmon, other dishes friends had, all were excellent. Nutella waffle with cappuccino gelato a great finish.
I hosted a group of 6 for lunch. We were on a tight schedule and the staff did a great job of expediting our orders. The food was very good and well-resented. Service was attentive but not overbearing. I will definitely visit again when business takes me to this area.
High quality brunch buffet. Standard fare: scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, 2 types of sausage, bacon, grits, oatmeal bar, baked goods, fruit, smoked salmon, yogurt, and made-to-order omelets. Good food, but the selection seemed rather limited. Not crowded at all for a Saturday morning.
Surrounded by chain restaurants it was great to find freshly prepared Italian food in a sleek modern setting with great espresso. The menu offered a good range of dishes with the option of small serving sizes. The food was freshly prepared in the galley kitchen and the service was efficient.
I was visiting from out of town and will definitely dine here again on my next visit to Crystal City.
The service was right on cue with an impressive selection of wine and you must try the Italian meatballs delicious ! Will come again.
Great atmosphere however I truly did not enjoy my meal.
Service was awesome. Restaurant was neat. Not sure how the meat in the pasta and meatballs dish was a little over cooked (burnt).
The supervisor was great and provided a refund.
I would visit once more. Things happen.
The wine list was expensive for the type of venue and the pizza was horrible - really bland. The service was pretty slow and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. Don't waste your time here - too many better restaurants to enjoy in the area.
Food was all very tasty. A little noisy. We will go again. Good place to take out of town visitors.
Went here for lunch while in the area. Within a new hotel so it is a very spacious open design where you can see the lobby, outside, as well as the kitchen. Service was pretty good and the server was attentive. The food was excellent. I ordered the rockfish sandwich and it was probably one of the best fish sandwiches I have ever had. Fish perfectly seasoned and cooked. It came with house made chips which were very good. Will definitely be back.
The best service I've had in years.
Great food, great service, modern, eclectic and full of energy. Great for a quick bite or a fun evening .
This place was amazing! I had the steamed mussels and they are the BEST I've ever had. Also had the fresh bur rata and couldn't have been more pleased. Did I mention that the drinks were also amazingly tasty! The prices were average and the service was great too! I will DEFINITELY return.
We just happened to buy a Gilt City deal for Socci, but we weren't expecting too much from it - just a regular night out. Khai was a knowledgable and nice server who gave us some great recommendations. The shrimp & polenta and the lobster lasagna were really good! I'd go back.
Everyone in our party ordered the Rockfish sandwich- Delicious! Socci is very flexible and let us substitute a substantial side salad or fries for the potato chips. Socci has very enticing elegant modern interior design. The waitress as very responsive and brought a lavish piece of cake for our honored Birthday guest with toppings.
Eat twice during a conference, - first time food was good - restaurant quiet. Second time busy with conference goers, service slow, very noisy. Food not as good when kitchen busy.
Everything we ordered was delicious. .. will definitely be returning.
We've visited Socci before, and we absolutely LOVE the venue. The food and service are always top notch.
My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here. I would not recommend going here to celebrate a special occasion. The server we had was not very knowledgeable about the menu and did not seem to have the tact to take care of guests celebrating a special occasion. The manager, who it seemed almost sensing that the server was not being helpful, came over to the table and did extend a warm greeting. When the manager was over at the table, the service was great. When the server was over, it was fair at best.
The food was very mixed. Besides taking forever for anything to actually be in front of me to eat or drink, some of the food was very good, but there was some misses. I wanted to like this place more.
We were pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the food at Socci, as frankly, this is just one of dozens of hotels in Crystal City. We asked for, and received, a table in a corner so that we could have a leisurely meal and chat without shouting. Our server was enthusiastic, but not very experienced with timing things. She interrupted our conversation at least three times to ask if we liked the food. Had we been seated in the main area of the restaurant, it is unlikely we would have been able to have a conversation; part of that is because the restaurant is in the lobby, and part of it is because the bar is right there, too. Would I eat here again. Yes! But only if I were staying in that hotel.
Socci is a very nice hotel restaurant. The menu had a number of interesting options, including local (Chesapeake Bay) options. The food is better than what I'd expect for a hotel like the Renaissance Arlington Capital View, and there are few, if any, better options that are within walking distance and open in the evening. It is not cheap, but its also not at the high end of restaurant dining. The pricing seems appropriate to the quality of the food.
Overall a very good dinner, excellent food and attentive service
We loved it. The food and the service was great
Accepted a late reservation and also put the group into a private room which was ideal for birthday dinner. Excellent food and excellent service. Thank you.
I had been looking forward to trying this restaurant based on a review/feature segment done on Channel 4 last year. Maybe I set my expectations too high but I was just not impressed. The ambiance was nice though.
The restaurant food was wonderful, portions were great with allowing for full or half portions, however, VERY understaffed and very slow unhelpful help. My boyfriend accidentally spilled his drink while talking right after the waitress gave it to him and it took a waiter/waitress 15 minutes to realize it happened and bring us napkins and did not offer for another drink or a refill. Very disappointed with the hostess and staff. Staff appeared angry and overworked. VERY busy restaurant with TWO waiters, one of which was also working the bar.
Food was good--loved the Italian cheese! Only complaint was the room was too cold--turn the air conditioner down!
Salad was good, but entree was mediocre, and the prices were a little higher than what the quality would justify. Not many people there at around 7 pm on a Monday night, but since the restaurant is located in the same general area as the hotel lobby, it wasn't the most quiet environment. If you're staying nearby and want a quick bite to eat without having to walk all the way down to the Crystal City shops by the metro, this isn't a bad place to go.
Met a firend there who wanted to check it out. I arrived 10 minutes earlier and ordered a beer (server didn't know what IPA was). Was exptecting a restaurant rather than a lobby cafe. When my guest arrived she ordered a Sidecar(waitress had no clue). Waited another 10 minutes and still no drinks. Didn't see waitress and bartender was "busy" chatting with customers. Waitress finally came out and was just standing around. We finally just left. The server didn't know how to engage us. She said few words that were mumbled. Overall service was unacceptable.
I didn't get a feel for Italian other than a few ingredients in typical American fare; chicken, ribs, steak, and fish. As a local, there's no attraction to go back.
The lunch menu was very limited and very different from the dinner menu: not really "Italian" food and mostly just sandwiches or pizza, so it was a disappointment from the start. It was too noisy to really have a conversation. And it took about 35 minutes from when we ordered food until it arrived, which meant we had to rush to finish eating.
