Perfect evening with amazing food, we wasn’t rushed at all. The only draw back was the 22:00 close time but that’s not the restaurant’s fault. We will be coming back many more times. Also very fair price and good service.
We had a brilliant time. Great food, service and ambience.
Really enjoyed the cote de bouef and the cocoa brûlée for dessert but wasn’t massively keen on the smoked eel starter. Great service though!
Excellent service and food, doing everything per covid regulations. Wonderful evening with my husband.
Really disappointing. I know things are difficult post COVID but the service was beyond poor - disinterested, rude at times, food arrival/spacing dreadfully managed. The food itself was average with a couple of better dishes. On the upside, the ambience and feel of the restaurant is good. Would not return, would not recommend. Amazed they hold a Michelin star.
What a fabulous meal!
The staff were lovely and the food sublime.
Well done Jason Atherton it was great to go to a place where social distancing was in place but still a buzz about the place. That was probably due to the great deals you are offering for wonderful food at reasonable prices. What a treat!
The food has definitely moved on in the last few years. It was always very good but now it's seriously special, I can see why they've got a Michelin star. The beef tartare is the best I've ever had (and I've had a lot), ditto my wife's trout tartare. Her brill was cooked to absolute perfection. My roast Roscoff onions with ceps had a depth of flavour that was off the scale.
At the same time the ambience is still the relaxed yet buzzy vibe that made this one of my favourite restaurants in London.
I do have one small(ish) gripe with the service. Having the starters appear five minutes after cocktails was definitely a misstep, especially as the starters were both cold so they could have waited a bit. That was sloppy. Mind you, I now know that rye goes quite well with beef tartare.
The food was amazing, we went for the tasting menu and it was full of great and innovative dishes with nice portion sizes. The staff were friendly and attentive and the restaurant has a great atmosphere.
Good food. But a very noisy environment and at some point during the meal they've dimmed the lights to a level I couldn't even see the food...
Staff was nice throughout and they left a postcard congratulating my girlfriend's birthday.
Great food, great service but can be noisy so may not be the place for a quiet dinner.
We sat at the chefs table and we had the tasting menu with cocktails. The food, the service, the drinks, the ambience- it was all perfect.
Great experience, really friendly team look after us and the overall experience exceeded our expectations !
Very nice place and really enjoyed the food and service was great, thank you!
Fantastic food and great service. Highly recommend
We came here for my boyfriends birthday and had a lovely time. The food is yummy and the wine recommendations were spot on.
Excellent, well thought, balanced food. Everything is cooked perfectly
We had a lovely evening at The Social Eating House – the food was exquisite and the service was great. Would highly recommend!
My partner and I had a delightful meal here in celebration of our 10 year anniversary. The ambiance was perfect for the occasion, quality fine dining without the stuffy or overly exclusive atmosphere. I immensely enjoyed the food - just one star knocked off as I found the scallop ceviche a little overspiced which over-powered the delicate seafood flavours. Service in the restaurant was fantastic - one star knocked off as had to wait quite a while for first cocktail in the Bling Pig bar, by the time it came we had to go downstairs to dinner! But these are minor quibbles in the grand scheme of things, overall I would highly recommend this dining experience.
It took half an hour for anyone to serve us, and then another half an hour for the drinks to actually arrive. We also had a very very strange waiter who ended up being incredibly rude to my friend when she tried to take a drink that was being offered to her, and also lectured us about why our friends couldn't move from a far away table to our adjacent table when it became free because it wasn't 'covid-safe' even though some strangers had been sat there previously.
Still had a good night and the ambiance is great, but this was despite of the service.
Dined for a long lunch on the £25 set menu (normally £35) - a definite bargain for food of this high standard. Couldn't fault this restaurant and it was nice to forget for a few hours the pandemic raging outside. Restaurant was buzzy but relaxing. Would thoroughly recommend.
A lovely experience, amazing cocktails and courteous staff. We will definitely be coming back.
Went for our anniversary, they gave us a card which was really thoughtful. We were seated in a booth which was cosy, the food was amazing, can't fault it, and great cocktails, server's very attentive and friendly, would definitely come back again!
Great atmosphere, fantastic service and superb food
Excellent all round! We went for lunch and would definitely recommend.
Excellent food and service, will be returning. The beef tartare to start was exceptional.
A great experience, would recommend for anyone looking for a great meal and night out.
Great place, interesting cocktails, delicious food. Very cool ambience, will be back!
First class lunch menu. Well worth splashing out on the venison loin. Best I have ever eaten.
Service was excellent and attentive. Even a birthday card waiting on our table on arrival
This restaurant is outstanding in every respect. From the moment you enter and are greeted by the friendly staff, served at table by the most capable and charming waiters, and seated in wonderful, industrially atmospheric surroundings. Then comes the food. One of the finest meals we have had in a long time. Add to that the incredible value set menu at lunch time and you have the perfect ingredients for a very special experience.
The flavor of the scallops and the brill were exquisite, novel and demostrating why SEH is a unique treat!
Service was impeccable, friendly and non-obtrusive.
More Rose Sparkling choices would be great.
The mains were terrific
Really delicious food, good portions and such affable service - even with a toddler!
The meal was cheffing of the highest standard - great ingredients imaginatively combined and skillfully cooked. The place has a great buzz despite the Covid restrictions, though temperature checks on entering would have been a good improvement.
We loved our evening, both in the restaurant and after in the Blind Pig, we'll be back!
Everything was excellent! The tasting menu and premium wine pairing was equisite! Highly recommended!
I tried here after eating many times at Pollen Street Social - another of Jason Atherton's restaurants which is stunning.
Perhaps my expectations were wrong - I expected a less formal version of Pollen Street with similar standards of food, service and quality.
Sadly not the case.
The pasta starter was bland and uninteresting, the venison was fatty and hard to cut with a blunt steak knife and served with a very tedious bowl of leaves.
The "selection" of ice-cream and sorbets was 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream.
The waiter was perfunctory and didn't take the time to explain the dishes or in any way go above and beyond.
I use the set lunch menus as a way of trying restaurants before returning to try the taster or a la carte menus. This should be a good value showcase of what they do to encourage people to return.
Just an all round fantastic experience. The food is outstanding as is the customer service in both the restaurant and the Blind Pig upstairs.
Fantastic value lunch menu especially during the eat out to help out period in September. Fantastic quality - we had the plaice as a main course which was perfectly cooked and deliciously fresh
As always it was fantastic!
Extremely disappointing for a Michelin star restaurant. A few dishes ok but mostly too or very salty food. Even the lettuce yes extremely salty. The dirty toilets and broken fixtures, this place has had better days. First Michelin star restaurant I have ever complained at, quite a disappointment. Serving staff friendly but the food is a major let down.
