My reservation was for 10:00pm got there 5 minutes before and was told by the hostess that we would be seated between 10-10:15. It was 10:30 by the time we were seated at a table with a reservation. Unacceptable and poor time management . It hasn’t changed much since the last time I went which was an even worse experience. Unfortunately I can’t say that I will be back anytime in the near future, it’s a beautiful venue but the service and food is not up to standard for an established restaurant.
Firat time i visited the new location. Food is nowhere near as good as it used to be. Given how empty it was, I am not alone in this view. At 51st you would wait for an hour at a lively, Fun bar. We were one of 3 tables on a recent weeknight, after making a special trip from midtown just for this place. Wont be back
I came to dine here during the week and it was empty. The food was ok though the Paella dish was not properly prepared, it was made with regular rice grains. The worst part of my experience is that I only came in to dine with my lady and when I asked for the bill I noticed they had already added the gratitude under service charge of 32$ FOR JUST A PARTY OF 2. The receipt also came included with suggestion to add more to the tip already added. So I dont recommend this place to anyone.
The paella for two was amazing. We took a lot of it home! The DJ was fantastic. My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary, we told the staff, and they gave us a free slice of cake with a sparkler on top. One of my favorite restaurants in the city. Can't say enough good things!
I loved the place will definitely go back. Music was loud was sat right under a speaker.
Great place for a date !
While it was ok, I was surprised at some of the prices for example of the pernil being $33. That is just an outrageous price for a meal. And our first batch of empanadas were frozen in the middle. The second batch were fine but made me wonder about food production there.
BUYER BEWARE - DO NOT GO TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT
This restaurant is not worth anywhere near the amount of money they are charging for poor food, slow service, rude waitstaff and worst of all a very rude manager.
I hadn't even received my credit card receipt to sign when the manager Cristian Guzman came to our table, didn't introduce himself at all, then aggressively demanded we move to the bar to clear the table. I explained I hadn't finished my drink and was waiting to sign the receipt, he said do it by the bar. He then used other rude language which I can't write here.
I try to support businesses in the community which is why I tried this one but it was a huge miss. Whoever owns this place do yourself a favor and fire this Cristian fellow, I would be embarrassed to have such a rude and non-service oriented person running my business. We all understand the need to turn over tables but approaching customers in an aggressive, frankly ghetto, uneducated and rude manner is simply not the way to do it.
Everyone out there do yourself a favor, skip this poorly run establishment and find another business that will actually appreciate your patronage.
We take pride in what we do and providing our guests with the best possible experience. I would like to address your review as it is very misleading. We offer reservations. After two hours and all parties finished their dinner, you were politely approached twice, as the next reservation had been waiting for their table. I addressed you respectfully throughout the whole interaction. You cursed and let me know the amount of the check and price of your watch, shaming my occupation.
The service was great but I went on a Sunday evening (6pm rez) so it was empty which was good since we got attention from the staff which doesn't seem to be the experience with other people's reviews. The food came out a little cold, that was the biggest concern, but it was presented really well. The crab artichoke came out with toasted sliced bread wedges (like from the grocery) that threw me and my date off. The drinks were great, and the ambiance was excellent, it was just a little loud, my date had to sit closer to have a conversation. I would go again, but during a time when there's no DJ perhaps.
This restaurant exceeded my expectations. Great music, atmosphere and ambiance.
The food was delicious and servings were plentiful. The service was excellent. The ambience was a chill vibe, super relaxing. Ilonka, our waitress, was extremely helpful and delightful.
Great place. But really a gratuity fee built in for 3 people. Surprised
Honestly, I had dinner before on their other two locations before they closed and I use to love their food and atmosphere, however, this time my experience was totally different. To start with the reservation ... Why bother making one if they not going to have a table ready for you and will make you wait over 45 minutes to get one ??? Absolutely non sense. Than if you make a complaint about the wait, they will give you a nasty attitude. The waiter was totally impatient and in a rush. We were a group of 5 and they brought our food at different times so we had to wait to be able to eat together. The menu was not elaborate and the price was high for the service they offered. Totally disappointed!
Love, love🥰 this place simply Awesome the food is Delicious and the music is fantastic I had a great time 🤗
The atmosphere was festive, after 8:30PM the music became louder and encouraged dancing, a party atmosphere. The food was not awful, I expected Puerto Rican inspired food however the food was EXTREMELY bland. I orderd the pernil and it tasted like baked pork with gravy, there was not even a hint of garlic or other puerto rican seasoning.
Birthday celebration. Had a blast
Saturday brunch is one of the few quiet days at this hidden gem in Riverbank State Park, with excellent Cuban fare and an incredible view of the GWC Bridge. Empanadas were wonderful, particularly the goat cheese and spinach. The main dish, Pernil, was a delicious smoky roasted pork with fried plaintains and rice and beans. Bottomless sangria (also really nice) or mimosas. It’s more expensive than other brunch options in Harlem, but the food quality is a night and day difference from some of the others at brunch. We also each went home with enough leftovers for 1-2 more lunches. I’ll be back and look forward to sitting on the patio when it’s warmer.
Live band was very loud and not that good so forget about talking over dinner, the DJ was better
We had a delicious dinner and service and ambiance was awesome. It was my friends first time at Sofrito’s and she loved the food and ambiance. She would like to come back to Sofrito’s again.
Thank you all so much...
Went on a date and we both enjoyed ourselves and the food and ambiance were excellent.
Beautiful place. Good food and drinks. Great for a date, dinner with friends or a party.
He view here is amazing.
Good ambiance, but the food is horrible & I got the most simple item on the brunch menu.
Mangu & 3 golpes......
Horrible place. Bad and slow service rude servers to name a few.. This place needs improvement
I love love Sofrito!!!!
Had dinner for 5 there on 9/21. We asked to be seated outside & they sat us right underneath the speaker and the music was so loud you couldn't hear each other speak . The waiter brought us the menu & stood there waiting for everyone to know what they were ordering. He got visibly annoyed when my wife asked to give us a little more time. He had an attitude. He then came back 15 mins later to take our order. Appetizers: The chicharron de pollo appetizers were really good & the empanadas were good too. They give you a choice of two small empanadas. My son had the beef (which he liked) & I had the shrimp one which was good. My mother in law had the alcapurrias, which she did not like. I tried a piece & the meat was dry & had no flavor. We all ordered mofongo. My son & mother in law both had it with pernil (the meat was shredded) which they both said was bland but tasted sweet, which was weird for pernil & their mofongo had no flavor. No taste of salt, garlic or at least gravy to add some taste. My wife said the same of her mofongo, which was dry & bland, but she had it with the carne frita, which she liked. After the sun went down, a live DJ started playing reggeaton & Spanish rap music and blasted the music even louder to an unbearable level. My 8 year old son was sitting with his hands covering his ears as we waited for the waiter which was nowhere to be found so we can request our check. Could be the waiter was probably covering too many tables & couldn't properly attend to the patrons, but his demeanor was no excuse. It's a shame because the restaurant looks fancy & has a nice view of the Hudson river, but it seems they want to be club & attract a young crowd with their unbearably loud music. A Puerto Rican restaurant that didn't play not one Salsa the whole time we were there. If you want flavorful food, you're better off going to the Cuchifritos. Bad enough they automatically add a 20% to parties of 5 or more, so you're tipping for bad service & mediocre food.
Food was good but the service was horrible. The server did not come back to the table to check on us even after asking for some condiments. Had to flag him down various times just to get a drink and the check. The place was pretty much empty. Very disappointing.
The place and the view are nice. The food was so so. I was there on a date and the music was good but very very loud.
I love the atmosphere. Food and drinks was great. The waitress was very friendly. I had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday.
Waited 45 minutes before being seated!
Absolutely amazing great place for birthday or special occasions
The food was just okay. I’ve had better. The waiter failed to mention Harlem Restaurant Week which is a different menu. If I had not said anything he wouldn’t have neither. He was nice though. The pernil was a bit dry too. Restaurant was but empty on a Sunday summer night.
Loved the brunch experience
Everything about the place is great atmosphere / outside area / drinks /food ,you will have a great time there
Only thing I would say is the music can come down a bit - I couldn't hear the person talking next to me & you want to at least conversant with your friends without screaming but overall a wonderful experience & I will be going back
First time going there with my family Saturday and I loved it everything was great music was wonderful the servers was respectable and hookah girl was really nice also the hosts
wow the music was so loud the waiter couldnt here me and i couldnt here me. i ended up using my finger to pin point my food on the menu
The view was beautiful and not to mention the ambiance. Everyone was awesome and the food was great. Can't wait to go back.
Great food and service. Drinks were excellent
Appetizers were microwaved. Food was rubbery. Not impressed.
I wish they played more hip hop ! And also I wish the volume was a little bit lower for conversations especially inside
