The interior style is 'theatrical nostalgia' with lots of photographs, mirrors and masks.
Huge gold swag and tail curtains and antiquity style statues adorn the entrance. The staff are wonderful and very accommodating - definitely a place to visit time and time again.
The menu has a wide selection of French and Italian dishes, pastas and grills. Start with the soupe de poissons and move onto sea bass Salieri or noisettes d'agneau perigourdin.
Breast of Chicken in a tomato, mushroom, shallots & red wine sauce served with new potatoes and fine beans
Classic Italian dessert with mascarpone, cream, and sponge soaked in liqueur and coffee
Smoked Salmon Parcels
Rolled smoked salmon filled with crayfish, lettuce & marie rose sauce
The restaurant is in a good position for the Savoy Theatre. The service was good but the food was only average. We had a antipasto of meat which was not very appetising. The pasta as mentioned in other reviews was not home made. The sauce was not great. It served a purpose.
Always wanted to come here. Every time we walk by. This time we booked to make sure we had a table. So glad we did. Great service. A real feel of a family run Italian restaurant. The food was excellent and we didn’t leave feeling we had been fleeced. Will definitely return.
Very convenient location for a pre-theatre meal at a fixed price.
Good plentiful and good but alcohol and (even) water! overpriced.
Still excelled a ambience is great and we had the luxury of a window seat looking out on the Strand and the Savoy Hotel.
Better than many other pre-theatre offers so overall Excelled.
3 of us dined at this restaurant before going to the theatre. Wow...what a find!!
We found the food to be excellent. There was a great selection of dishes on the menu but we all chose from the set menu...and were not disappointed. The staff were extremely friendly. When we first arrived (at 5pm on a Sunday afternoon) the restaurant was not overly busy but by the time we left (7:15pm) I believe all tables were full (even outside). We will definitely return to dine at the restaurant again when next in the area. Very good value for money too! Thank you to everyone for giving us a great dining experience!!
Much better service and food than on previous visit. Fish dishes were particularly commended for flavour and quantity. Quieter than last time. Not so crowded. Service prompt and courteous.
This is the perfect pre-theatre restaurant for the Vaudeville Theatre. You'll need to book for pre-theatre dining as the restaurant is full early evening every evening. It's a great find for The Strand theatres though.
Visited with a large group of work friends pre theatre. Service was excellent and attentive and speedy. The food was delicious and we all enjoyed our meals very much.
Great atmosphere, good Italian food, friendly service. We had a great lunch here - Central London yet we could hear each other over the mild hubbub. Recommended
The food and service were both excellent. As a group of friends we keep coming back so that means something!
Fantastic service and food, had a lovely lunch, I would definitely recommend as a lunch before a show
Good dependable restaurant with reasonable prices. Been here 3 times this year and would definitely recommend if in the area.
Salieri has been a favourite Italian restaurant of ours for many years. Service is always friendly at this family-run establishment. The set menu offers us just what we need and is good value. On this occasion, I enjoyed what was probably the best lamb shank I've tasted in London. If you're looking for pizza and pasta this is probably not for you but, otherwise, it can be happily recommended.
The food was mediocre at it's best, the service wasn't bad.
Good for quick dinner before the theatre.
Good for quick dinner before the theatre.
My friends and I went to Salieri Restaurant before seeing 9 to 5. Some of us had the set menu & others had a la carte. The portions were large and delicious. The waiter made sure we finished and paid in time to get to theatre by 7.30. I recommend Salieri for any occasion.
Fun restaurant for pre or post theatre experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinners consisting of a steak fillet cooked in garlic and butter and ravioli stuffed with mushrooms and cheese. Our desserts were very tasty and fresh as well. The staff was excellent and very pleasant. We will definitely return.
Very ordinary. I wouldn't go again. Not anything special really. The sevice was the best part of the experience.
Great. Decent value, exciting, right next to the Strand theatres. Recommended.
Lovely restaurant, been going here for many years. Family run restaurant, very attentive. Food is great, tiramisu unbelievable. Will be going back soon
Perfect location for pre or post-theater dining. Warm welcome, friendly service, copious portions,
value pricing. We were offered a complimentary limoncello at the end of our meal. We will return!
Fabulous food, reasonably priced. Great service delivered with a sense of fun. Will definitely return to sample some more of the menu.
Disappointing service and food. We were there for pre theatre dinner so great positioning for Savoy Theatre. I presume all those around us were on a fixed price offer as restaurant very busy early. Over priced and waiters unfriendly. Shame
The food was ok, but the meal that I ordered sounded much better on the menu than what arrived on the plate.
Salieri is a long-time favourite of ours and we always leave feeling we have been well looked after. This occasion was no exception. We opted for the set menu. My lamb shank main was delicious but my partner, who opted for the chicken breast in mushroom sauce, preferred the previous menu option of chicken chasseur. The only slight negative was that our waiter failed to get my warmed apple tart to the table in good time and I had to abandon it. However, I was very well compensated for the mishap. We will definitely return.
Great location, great food (we had the lasagne), and excellent service. Would definitely return.
Very friendly and welcoming. Food was fantastic and service great. We have been here a few times pre theatre and always been very happy with the food and service
Excellent meal and service. Only one small pount; waiter didn't check that out meal was ok. As it happened it was. Would still recommend as good was great and value good for London.
Lovely meal, staff very friendly and attentive - great table in the window so could people watch, we very much enjoyed our visit here and will be back
Great service, attentive staff abs the food was great.
Given the uncertain service in some London Restaurants I know I can always rely on Salieri's. The food and ambience is good. Their opening times allow you to have a pre theatre meal in an unrushed way before you go to the theatre. Its location on The Strand is very handy
Great place. Good food well priced especially considering the location. Very friendly.
This is an excellent pre or post theatre restaurant. The food is delicious and the portions very generous plus the service was excellent and the meal was inexpensive. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Food good, service good. Would definitely come back again.
A comedy of errors! Booked for 4 people pre theatre 5.45pm. I'm not sure what was happening exactly but the waiting staff whilst very pleasant were in a total state of disarray. Starters arrived - the bruschetta was actually quite tasty but the arancini balls were tiny and hardly worth the wait. We then proceeded to experience a long gap with no mains in sight. Given the restaurant promotes itself as a pre-theatre venue unfortunately they could not fulfill the brief.
By 7.10 we advised that if the mains didn't arrive immediately we'd have to leave. One of the waiting staff was very apologetic advised that something had gone wrong in the kitchen, went off to check and returned with our main courses. Carbonara was swimming in cream and the fish looked very sorry for itself, also swimming in some sort of grey liquid. Fortunately I had ordered the chicken which was totally edible and the cannelloni was also fine. We wolfed down what we could and made a rapid exit. All the tables around us were experiencing the same; 'where's my desert? can i have the bill - we've asked you 3 times!' all sorts of chaos as people were desperately trying to leave to get to their shows.
Perhaps on another night Salieri would be fine as there are some positive reviews on here. The staff were extremely apologetic and money was taken off our bill which I thought was a decent gesture. It's unlikely however I'll ever go again.
Great service. Staff are friendly and helpful. Very convenient location and food was good.
WE visited Salieri for a pre-theatre dinner for 6 of us. We had a thoroughly lovely time. The food was good and the service helpful and attentive. I'd go there again.
Ok meal and venue quite nice but not as nice as the online photos make out.
Starters good. Main course ok and the lasagna not.
Overall ok but not special enough to make us go again.
The ambience is helped by a number of quirky objects around the restaurant, mainly related to London's theatres and the composer. The speed of service is well geared to the needs of those dining before going to one of the nearby theatres.
Excellent with regard to location and pre theatre meal
Sadly this lunchtime visit was not a success, unlike previous visits. Whether it was the very large lunch group that threw my modest set lunch, is a good question. The first course of deep fried haloumi was very oily but it was crisp and piping hot. The second course of calenolli stuffed with spinach and ricotta was a real let down. It wasn’t heated through, it was tasteless and I couldn’t eat it all...which is amazing for me,! They were very gracious about my complaint however.
