Our waitress was a little rude, but service was good. Maybe we were a little difficult to handle, being 4 teenage girls and parents and grand parents who had a hard time deciding what we wanted and she was anticipating that. Must remember that good service doesn't always mean a smile.
Great food and services.
Food was great !
Service was poor. Appetizer arrived cold and with one entree. Remaining entrees came after the first diner was half through this meal. No apology from staff.
Our dinner at Spice 28 was good. The food was pretty tasty and the portions were ample. They were bombarded with a huge party which left us flagging down servers the entire night. One of our entrees was forgotten and had to be ordered again. They did eventually take half off the cost of the dish. All in all, a decent place to have an affordable dinner in the city.
We went on Valentine’s Day so this would not be fair to rate them as it was any other night. They overbooked and put us in a front table by the bar instead of in dining doom. We sat there for a half hour and still had not seen anyone so we decided to just get up and order through the bar at our table. They were nice but it wasn’t your typical service and but they did end up getting us what we need. We actually never saw a server the entire night. The food was good but to say it was a great experience is far from it. The two other tables by us experienced the exact same thing I just think we were probably a little nicer about it
We decided to try this place on Valentines Day. Of course we expected a long wait, however, it took us over an hour to get any of our food because of how busy they were. The waitress and the manager were both very apologetic and accommodating due to this inconvenience. Even though the food took forever it was so worth it. Our meals and appetizers were delicious. We will definitely be coming back, just hopefully when it isn’t a holiday.
Let me start by saying my Husband and I are food connoisseurs. We love to travel and eat!! And we everything anything and everything. Well we thought we would try a new place for our anniversary and boy was that a mistake. The service was okay but also took 30 mistakes to cash out. None of the food was good. We couldn’t believe how bad it was based and recent reviews. The pork belly was like slop and tasted bad, the lemon grass soup had no lemon grass, and the octopus was mushy. Maybe they were short handed and that’s why the service took so long but the food.....
The restaurant was very nice, the food was great! The staff were on point. I will definitely be going back!
The best thing about Spice 28 is that the cost is reasonable for decent food and cocktails.
Second time here and of course the food was just as good as I remember. The Peking duck buns are AMAZING. Although I wish you would get more than 2 in an order, it’s definitely worth the $7. We both ordered fried rice and you get a bang for your buck. The portions are fairly large and I had trouble finishing it! The pineapple fried rice was very good with the chicken as well. The chicken was so tender and juicy - very good job on that!
I will most definitely be coming back and for happy hour!
Food was tasty and drinks were good, but the service was pretty poor.
Super friendly staff with above a average drinks .
The wait was a little long but the food and drinks was good
Good food even during busy restaurant week.
The food, delicious. Service, excellent and Fast. I highly recommend anyone to go try the food at Spice 28.
Made reservations for Philly Restaurant week, ventured out for something different. We were not disappointed! Food was excellent, interior had a very modern design which was very cool. Service was thorough and fast. Kids had fruity drinks that were amazing. I would go back again to try other menu options.
One of the best places for restaurant week. They are one of the very few restaurants participating with such variety in their menu. Loved the food, waiter was terrible but can't miss out on such amazing restaurant for one person. Definitely recommend!
The food was very good and plentiful.
The hostess was taking a phone order when we were trying to check in. With minimal acknowledgement, the hostess kept taking the phone order as we stood at the entrance for a couple minutes until a waitress seated us. I mentioned using open table multiple times but still got a ‘no show’ email. Beyond the check in, everything was great. Service, food, interior, all great.
The food was delicious and the menu has so many good things to choose from that you want one of everything. The only thing that we were disappointed in was that our waiter disappeared halfway through our lunch. Not sure what happened but another server had to jump in and help us.
The staff friendly but we were not assigned one waitstaff so there was some delays and confusion. The person who we ordered with was very attentive to a gluten allergy of one of the diners. Margarita not too sweet, nicely done and presented nicely in large wine glass. Hungary Chicken was well flavored but the noodles overwhelmed the dish. The restaurant was extremely loud.
Food pretty mediocre. Extremely noisy with a very large party next to us. Service uninspiring to non-existant. Dishes all came out randomly with side dishes arriving before appetizer.
Positives: Food was acceptably mediocre and prices were low, atmosphere was relaxed and waitstaff was friendly.
Negatives: The Japanese "grilled" shrimp and vegetables had absolutely no seasoning-- a dish that was not bad but had no flavor and was something I would steam in microwave at home if I was on a restricted diet. Served without condiments. Disappointing. Restaurant had abundance of waitstaff, poorly trained. Uninspiring dining experience, not worth a return trip or recommendation. Best part was affordability, though ordering from the lunch special menu instead of the Restaurant Week menu (that was the draw) was best bargain.
Food was lukewarm.
Really attentive wait-staff who were great with our kids and dealt with the lively holiday crowd respectfully and cheerfully. Great food!
I had recently Tried Spice 28 a week ago and it was so good had to take my fiance there !!. I didn't think I liked food since I thought it was spicy food but not all of it was spicey.! Great service they all worked together .they were quick friendly.and got the job done. thank you for wonderful service !
Great food. Bar service was slower than normal.
2/3 of the waitresses were nice. The food was good, but one of my friends found a hair in her food and the one waitress that wasn’t nice had an attitude about it. That same waitress forgot to bring my other friend his appetizer. The 2/3 waitresses that were nice sang me happy birthday and made sure we always had water I appreciate them.
Our group of 11 decided to try Spice 28 while we were in town for the Philly Marathon Weekend. We each ordered a different dish to pass around and share. Our server was very helpful in picking out dishes she thought we would like. Everything was delicious - especially the pork pot stickers and the Dan Dan Noodles. We loved every bite!
Food was just stellar! Spicy, creative, a culinary delight for the palate! We had such a wonderful evening!!!
The food at Spice is good or at least the thai based food. The problem is the excessive noise. At times it is deafening. Service is too rushed but for what it is we understand.
Great experience. Staff didn't speak a lot of English, but were very polite and helpful. Had the Chicken Pad Thai that was very good. But the highlight of my meal was the dumplings in chili oil. I went to sleep that night thinking about them...
I eat Thai food all the time and the food plus the atmosphere was a great experience.
Although the food was excellent the service was slow and for whatever reason they were unable to located my reservation that I made through OpenTable. This was disappointing as I did not receive the points for the reservation and was marked as a no show despite having lunch there. Otherwise, the food and portions you received were fantastic
The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, the food is delicious (please try the green tea mochi dessert!), however the service left something to be desired. It was just too slow, we waited so long for our order to be taken, then between courses and finally to get the check.
Amazing Delicious Food!! However, the service Sucked...
Service was so bad. There was no hostess, so having a reservation didn't mean anything. No one came to check on us. Ended up taking dessert to go because we were there for two hours already and most of that time was waiting for service.
The day we went it seemed like the servers were understaffed. They were doing their best but we had to wait for our drinks and which never came so we had to go to the bar and asked for them. One of our entree never arrived and we asked if it could just be boxed to take home and they ended up charging us double.
I would like to return but it would need convincing.
Spice 28 has great food and many options for even the pickiest of eaters. The ambience is wonderful. The place can get loud if it is crowded, but the increased noise levels do not distract from the positive experience you will have at Spice 28.
