Food was good because where is it in case I will texture and very well presented.
The house wine was excellent value.
The service was attentive Without being fussy. I look
Forward to my next visit.
As always a great place for dining. We have been coming here for many years now and enjoyed introducing our kids and grandchild to Spring, this year.
We enjoyed our experience at Spring.
The service is attentive and the restaurant is beautiful.
We went for the Scratch Menu. This is good value for money for central London however the food didn’t blow us away. We loved the concept but I have definitely had better tasting food. Whilst beautifully presented, it wasn’t the most interesting menu - a sort of bruchetta, a veggie curry and a lemon tart. All ok.
I would still recommend as the menu changes daily. Unfortunately on our day, is wasn’t that exciting but if we come again, we may get luckier.
Beautiful room. Lovely food
My wife and I visited Spring for lunch to celebrate Zoe's birthday. The service was warm and friendly and superbly attentive from the moment we were welcomed at the reception desk to the moment we were waved goodbye. Spring is classy yet relaxed, with a wonderful ambience. The clientele were a lovely mix of people. The food and wine was delicious. At each course it was hard to choose what to eat as all the dishes looked so enticing. The style and feel of Spring is light and airy. I loved the design of the restaurant and the staff's uniforms too. It all added to a wonderful experience. we will definitely return, and would recommend Spring to our friends. Thank you.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Fair price. Service, while attentive, was a bit scattered among lots of people.
Had the Scratch menu. Starter and main very good. Dessert a bit odd. Trish, the waitress was excellent.
Fabulous food! And managed to fix me up with vegetarian options. So good!
The scratch menu is fantastic value for money and all done in great time to go on to a theatre.
Dated food. Expensive. Front of house dressed as sailors
The restaurant is beautiful and chic, the food was just outstanding. Highly recommend the tortellini and beef fillet as well as the potatoes on the side.
Outstanding. Incredible food and impeccable service.
It was a fantastic dinner. Both me and my girlfriend were satisfied with the spring restaurant. The food was delicious and the waiter was gentle. We had a wonderful Valentines day there.
Valentine’s Day dinner - food was excellent and I live the room and ambience of this place. Service is generally very good here but they did forget to bring the wine we had ordered on this occasion.
Spring has a fresh friendly feel - it’s livery
but you can hear yourself talk. The menu
was limited in scope particularly if not a meat eater. Detail was missing in food experience and presentation which was disappointing.
Staff are polite and attentive, but overly so. Too much attention at times. Desert was a highlight.
Scratch menu was good value but not particularly exciting
We visited to enjoy the Scratchings menu and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service is particularly outstanding along with the ambience of the room. Highly recommended.
We had the pre theatre scratch menu and it was delicious. 4 of my party had not been before and they all said that they would go again
A really beautiful room in Somerset House. Attentive staff and great food. Will definately come again.
Recommended with reservations. The menu is different and interesting. The wine list is acceptable. It is not cheap. It is convenient, next to Somerset House and accessible to Waterloo. I invited three fellow judges because I had dined there twice before Christmas with good results. Their views were less favourable than mine.
BUT the dining experience was severely damaged by an increase on the tipping % from 12 1/2 % to 13 1/2 % being slipped in to the invoice. (I could not, or did not, see it on the menu.) When challenged the Manager informed us somewhat haughtily that this had been raised on 1 January 2020. It is of course only advisory but I suspect it slips past many people without them noticing or they are not willing 'to make a scene'. The consequence of an increase of 1% is not huge you might think but there is a principle involved. Tipping levels have been creeping up, and I think this is not the first step too far.
PLUS if a restaurant is going to try to benefit its waiters through customers, rather than by paying a proper wage, it should ensure that they are adequately trained. Avoiding having two different waiters reach across a diner and between two people speaking should be an early lesson.
And just in case you are thinking what a curmudgeonly bunch, we tipped what we thought appropriate in cash, in spite of the distinctly frosty response to our comments.
Spring Restaurant is in a god location and has clearly thought about the decor and overall presentation of the restaurant and staff. What this comes together very pleasingly the atmosphere was a little lacking - this may not be typical. The food though was fantastic, ask the of us enjoyed each of the courses that we chose with good quality ingredients, cooked and seasoned well. The food alone will make us go back.
The portions were too small and much too expensive for what you received. I was disappointed by the experience.
Very nice ambiance, staff are very friendly and welcoming. We had the Saturday scratch menu, totally amazed by the stater—mushroom pasta! But the main course was a bit so so. I’d love to go again soon!
Lovely space, excellent food at very good prices. Will definitely go again
The service was a little preoccupied. It took us a long time to order desserts, and pay the bill.
Beautiful food in a beautiful space served by relaxed and friendly people
Painfully slow, no atmosphere as restaurant was quite empty. Dreadful Gin and Tonics - little gin and flat tonic. Ignored by most of the staff. I’m not sure we will ever go back though it has been a favourite of our family. So sad
We had a delightful dinner for 6 and everything was perfect. The room is such a beautiful setting for a special meal, and the food does not disappoint.
I surprised my partner to a birthday dinner at Spring. I had never been there myself but after having done some research on romantic places to dine in London and looking at their menu I decided to give them a try.
Spring definitely did not disappoint. The ambiance was lovely and the host and waiters were very friendly.
The menus is slightly expensive but I can’t complain as everything we ordered was cooked to perfection.
I would happily recommend Spring for those special occasions and I would definitely go there again.
Delicious ‘scratch menu’ and the best blood orange sorbet on the planet!
Whenever l am in London l visit this restaurant. I find so many restaurants in london are noisy and dinning is high speed! This restaurant offers a warm and welcoming ambience , the service is five star , friendly but discreet , the decor has relaxing colours , the food is always delicious and l was able to talk to my friends for hours without having to shout . This is a firm favourite
A really lovely experience.
Excellent food, beautiful room nd ambience.
the Sommelier and all the wait staff were wonderful.
One of the finest restaurants I’ve been to in the 5* league! Outstanding and beautiful.
Service was absolutely lovely and the staff are really faultless but the pricing is extortionate considering the food is just only good and can’t be called anything special
Outstanding food, immaculate service, terrific service. And mercifully quiet ambience.
Cannot recommend Spring more highly.
A very special restaurant.
My third time there and will definitely return.
Thank you to all the staff. You are the best.
Spring is certainly an experience: the ambience within a wing of Somerset House is that of a kind of high-ceilinged luxury canteen - little intimacy, perhaps, for diners wishing to snuggle up in corners. Expect a very good, very friendly and knowledgeable service throughout. Our own first meal there revealed unevennesses in the dishes served: a beautifully melting fresh pasta dish led to spice-rubbed fillet steak which certainly treated it as the star performer on the plate, cooked to order beautifully 'a point', but the advertised Harissa potatoes and 'three-cornered' Labneh as accompaniments failed to add anything to the dish overall, and indeed some might have called the relatively tasteless Harissa potato element an unfortunate disaster in having been somewhat burnt, at least overcooked. My wife and a guest had very simply cooked rabbit leg with saucing involving prunes and Armagnac but little change from £30... why??? Lightness and freshness followed my steak, however: blood orange jelly, celebrating its short season here at present (late January). Prices, however, are very steep across the board - particularly for wines 'by the glass' which run upwards of £14. Just be aware that you'll be visiting a lovely restaurant that has eye-wateringly high mark-ups caused in part, I guess, by what must be the phenomenal ground rent of the restaurant's prime location in Somerset House.
Interesting food, but no tit bits whilst waiting.service not convincingexcept lively sommelier
Annoyed that unexpected donation added to bill BEFORE Vat added to total....WHY?
Bill stated vat was on this total , thus including donation
Manager denied this several times, yet total sum showed that vat was added to donation
Why did he lie, or was he out of touch?
I suggest customers are given option of rounding up the bill as a donation....likely to provide more cash to good fund than £1 donation....+ vat ?
Front desk staff took coats but forgot to hand my hat back....bit dozy of them so separate trip to reclaim next day.
Both problems severely detracted from very expensive food.
Why encourage awful habit of food selfies; ban mobiles in a supposedly top class restaurants, as good clubs do.
We did the Scratch menu and enjoyed every course. It's a great idea to use leftovers to create a menu and we weren't disappointed. It's also a good menu to do pre-theatre as it's only available 5.30-6.30pm. This restaurant is beautiful - we loved the decor and the fact that you can't hear the busy London streets outside! The only downside was it was very cold!
Utterly gorgeous decor that immediately slips you into a sumptuous mood. We had the Scratch Menu and despite the sound of it, the 3 courses were delightful and beautifully presented. Delicious Asian/Mediterranean flavours and food was plentiful. The Desert (cookie & ice cream) was a bit slap dash, the biscuit was a bit overdone, but was totally forgivable under the ‘scratch’ circumstances. I’m going to save up my pocket money to have the a la carte next time.
Great ambiance and service, rich food - would recommend!
