Has been my number one favourite group of restaurants in London while I've lived her for the last 20 years. Had a really lovely, relaxing and delicious lunch here on Sunday. First trip to a restaurant since before lockdown and was really impressed with and put at ease by all the covid-safe measures in place. Service and food impeccable. Highly recommend.
Lovely and neat set up, air conditioned.
Starter selections quite limited and a bit underwhelming. Great mains, loved the breaded lemon sole and roast Dexter.
One thing we found a bit awkward is that staff repetitively emphasise the menu is designed for sharing but the layout of food is not bite-sized, sharing-friendly at all. I would recommend everyone each get a main and maybe a few starters to share than sharing everything.
Freshly baked Madeleines is a must!!
Had a great night here. The food was amazing. Lots of focus on British food and sustainability. The service was a bit slow, but given Covid situation, I think it is a minor point. Would love to go back again.
As always first class food and relaxing ambience. Have missed this place!
Great service, some of the most delicious food and a bloody lovely atmosphere!
excellent bone marrow toast, and lamb croquette with mint sauce, portions are not large but all delicious. Lovely attentive yet casual service.
We love it! Everything and every stuff were amazing. Will come back soon!
Great foods,nice staffs 😊
I hope see you soon！xxx
The staff were wonderful, really accommodating, friendly and professional - they are a huge asset to your company and I hope they’ll be looked after by management in the weeks and months to come.
Another fantastic meal. My favourite restaurant in the world.
Excellent everything as always. Food was delicious and varied so took advantage of different dishes.
Had to take away there Eccles cakes to, they are to die for
Good wine selection, food is pricey and portion is rather small. My lunch companion order fish but it was cold. I had langoustines, they were also cold, tasted lovely but 4 for 20q .... I am very sure I'd not have that again (!)
As good as ever! An ever-changing menu that always manages to deliver tasty seasonal surprises. It’s a delicious adventure every visit. It can get a little noisy with the high ceilings and hard surfaces but ok if there’s not a large group. The basement loos always seem to wiff a bit damp and drainy, but you shouldn’t hold that against them. It’s not like you have to eat down there.
Foie gras, bread pudding and claret to die for!
Overpriced in comparison to some very very good restaurants in the area. 15 euros for 1 cup of lentils. We were very disappointed
Amazing food especially the pigeon, radish and damson and of course the delicious madeleines. Thank you for an amazing meal.
Excellent Lemon Sole. I would definitely come back with my grandmother. She likes wish fish
Excellent, start to finish. Great service, fantastic food. Bone marrow could be the best thing I have ever eaten.
I had a great meal in the perfect setting. I've dreamt about going to St John's for years and having the opportunity to go to Bread and Wine was a chance that I couldn't give up and really didn't disappoint.
Absolutely fantastic!! Great value and impeccable service
Lamb heart very good. Quail outstanding. Smoked sprats a tad salty. Vanilla creme donuts and malt ice cream otherwordly
I came here for a big breakfast — I had the Scotch Woodcock (a discovery for me) and porridge with earl grey prune, both of which were very good. The service was excellent, and the place is very nice, a good balance of stylish and cosy I think. I'll be sure to visit again when I'm next in London !
We are regular customer, but I'm afraid the place is not what used to be. The other one in Saint John street is now I'm afraid on another planet.
Lovely food, excellent service, highly receommended!
this is what British cooking should all be about. amazing flavours with zero fuss.
Great food - great atmosphere... Will definitely be back...
Impeccable! Second time at St Johns and would like to go back over and over again. Simply enjoyed every bite!
Best Welsh rarebit you'll ever taste.
Never get tired of this place, love the regular staples on the menu and there's always something interesting on the daily specials.
A superb meal, marvellous wine list, with friendly and knowledgeable staff in a wonderfully understated space. Incredible.
Excellent if you want to try new kinds of food, and very high quality. Menu changes every day but always rich ok choice. Expensive (be prepared to spend £70+ a head if having 3 courses + drinks) but justified by high quality, uniqueness and friendly quick service
Lovely staff and everything comes out fresh, but the 2 dishes I had (raw cauliflower and butternut squash with some kind of ricotta) were very underwhelming, and not worth their price tag.
I think it’s fine if you’re a meat eater so you can enjoy the whole ‘nose to tail’ experience, but this wasn’t for me.
Anther fabulous dining experience .. we had the gurnard and the foie gras with mushrooms and the suede cake. all delicious and enough for the two of us. I had a light red by the glass, perfect.
We have enjoyed many dinners at Bread and Wine as well as at St John and the food has always been honest. However of late it had become much less refined and rather coarse. Our most recent experience was unpleasant. Firstly rough service from the waitress who we believe to be the manageress. Secondly we were advised the mallard would be served pink - actually it was raw with congealed blood on the surface, not just red juice from the cut surface (I am a doctor.) The serrated knife could not cut the meat. 2 different waiters did not accept that the food was raw - they just said 'we serve duck pink'. It is a shame they do not listen to their customers.
The menu is interesting and has some unusual British dishes. The Blood Cake and Welsh Rarebit are very good and would recommend. Wines all French and a little expensive, in my opinion. Service excellent.
St. John’s was good, but my server wasn’t particularly knowledgeable about the menu. Another server helped out and she was terrific, but on the whole, they needed to be a bit better. The food was pretty good, but not fantastic. Wine choices were very good, but a bit shallow when they were poured.
Great atmosphere and service! I love this kind of cuisine where the produce of the season is used to prepare great meals. Portions are large. I’d prefer slightly smaller plates so one can try more from the menu. Great wine selection. Thanks for great evening!
A perfect birthday meal that exceeded our expectations. Flavour at the forefront, friendly service & great ambience as always.
Business meal for 2. Starters: Cods Roe (5/5 - very interesting and tasty), Terrine (3/5 - good enough but nothing special). Mains: Skate with capers & chives (4/5 - good combination / tasty), Venison & Red Cabbage (3/5 - venison a bit chewy, but not bad overall). Pudding: Eccles cake & Wensleydale (4/5 - a bit different and nice way to end the meal).
Wine list: quite long / interesting and plenty of not overly expensive options.
The decor is basic but fine. The place was full but not overly noisy. Service seemed a little stretched but our waiter did a good job given it was so busy.
Overall, we enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and I will definitely give this restaurant another go.
