ST. JOHN Bread & Wine reflects the rhythms of its locale whilst observing the same respect for seasonal, indigenous ingredients and "the whole beast" as the bigger sister restaurant. Opening for breakfast, lunch and supper seven days a week, this branch very much beats its own drum with a menu structured towards a slightly less formal manner of dining, with guests actively encouraged to share dishes as they're ready from the kitchen.

As well as selling goods to take home from our bakery, wines by the bottle or the case can be bought from our lists to take home with some delivery available.

Bread & Wine has been voted Best British Restaurant by the Evening Standard and named as best value restaurant by The Observer Food Monthly.

The food on offer is quite different from the general breakfast menu. I had the Kidneys and they were very tasty. My friend had the Bloodcake, which also went down very well. We are ardent nose to tail fans and people who try out the special items on the menu will, no doubt, enjoy them.

Fantastic informal restaurant with outstanding food, lovey waiting staff and a great range of options from the daily changing menu and the specials board.
The crumbed kid with mint sauce was absolutely divine - as was the venison!
Will definitely be returning...

I have been to St John Bread and Wine in the past but brought my wife there for the first time for our first wedding anniversary. I was not disappointed and she had a most enjoyable experience - the menu was fantastic (especially the kid croquettes and the crispy pig cheek salad!) and we were served by enthusiastic, helpful staff. Big shout out to the waiter who was working his first shift - knowledgeable, attentive and professional throughout the evening. We left having bought the St John's cook book, but we know we'll be back for the atmosphere and treat of having such wonderful food cooked for us.

Had been looking forward to visiting for ages, but unfortunately was really disappointed.

I ordered a doughnut, which looked lovely but the rest of it wasn’t great. The custard on top had gone hard like it had been sat out for a day. There was only about a teaspoon of custard filling.

The toilets were not at all clean and the staircase downstairs to them was run down.

However, the service was ok, if a little quick at the end. Bill brought straight to us before we had asked and then within 1 minute they had brought the card machine assuming we were paying straight away.

Always love this place. Staff are super helpful and the right level of chatty. The ethos behind the food and the quality if fantastic. The wine choices are great. It's all a bit pricey but it's worth it. Hence me coming back multiple times.

The food is very tasty and reasonably priced. The decoration reminds of Scandinavian restaurants. The service is good and often comes with a kind smile.

The food quality is excellent (especially the Dexter on dripping toast, the madeleines and the treacle tart), the menu is varied and the service attentive but imo the larger sized portions are still rather small and don't really represent good value.

First time trying a la carte after previously attending two hog roasts. Food was tasty albeit a bit salty. Portions were average without being generous. Ambience was good and service was excellent.

In a word, disappointing. Best items... all baked items and the bone marrow. Most other items (mackerel and ox hearts especially) way over cooked. If I had to compare to a type of restaurant it is trying to be it would be Girl and the Goat or Publican (Chicago) Not even close to the same league and is more expensive. The most aloof service we’ve had during our month in Europe and we just came from Paris speaking no French.
Worst of all were the sweetbreads. Instead of crisp fried coating and delicate insides, could have fooled someone as a soggy chicken tender.

i hadn't been here for a while and was reassured by the eclectic menu. We opted for the pig spleen (a first for both me and my colleague) - livery as perhaps we could have expected. Smoked sprats; smoky. mince on toast - a massive portion all being shared and then belly pork with tomato salad on the side. Staff were helpful and suggested removing one dish as we had overordered which we did (the mince was indeed filling). All washed down with a large bottle of breton cider - again shared. Note to self - go back more often.

Food is out of this world good. If you are into good food good experience and are not afraid of trying new things this restaurant is for you. There will be elements of surprises and familiarity, both of which will satisfy your inner gluttony.

The day before Wochenende had dinner at 'the mothership' St. John in St. John st. - but Bread and Wine was even better! We loved the food and and a great service - these two restaurants are my absolute favorite and a must-go when in London. Great. Not more to say.

Really lovely food from start to finish. We had the cods roe, rissole, mutton, greens but the highlight were the freshly baked madeleines which I'm still dreaming about.
The only downside was that my opentable reservation did not transfer to the restaurant (my email confirmed but St John had no record of my booking) but luckily they could seat us.
Will definitely go back again and hopefully get to taste the famous ox-heart.

A friend recommended us the restaurant, so we went. The places is nice, services great, but very much disgusted about food: too much grassy oil in every plate, we couldn’t find the lamd no the plate, same salad side for all the dishes. Very sorry about that
