Celebrating the finest of indigenous British produce and making the most of what is seasonally best whilst applying straight forward cooking techniques, St. John is now celebrated as one of the 50 Best Restaurants in the World and in 2009 was awarded its first Michelin Star.
Nose to tail eating means that, where appropriate, every part of the animal should be put to good use in the kitchen and so along with Roast Beef and Lemon Sole, diners will find Rolled Pig’s Spleen, Kidneys and Ox Heart, Liver and Chitterlings as well as the Roast Bone Marrow & Parsley Salad, something of a ‘signature’ dish.
Whilst often cited as not a restaurant to take a vegetarian to, the kitchen source and prepare dishes for vegetarians with the same amount of studiousness as they do the meat, fish and poultry and desserts.

Simply the best restaurant in London. Incredible food, and a very good wine list too.
Great food and service as always. Classics on the menu always deliver.
The food was lovely. Delicious and not over complicated. I loved the very southern French influenced wine list. But the best bit was the friendly welcome and the great service. We never felt hurried - perfect for a long overdue friends catch up.
Always such a treat! The whole crab and bone marrow are a must, and the lamb liver was magical!
A culinary adventure. Their own wines were very good too.
Outstanding place - food is delicious and our waiters were the best. Totally recommend !
Family lunch for 6, our wedding anniversary. We all had a lovely time. St Johns is well known for a reason, the menu is challenging if your a vegetarian or omnivore. Do your research, this restaurant is a real "foodies" place. For us as a family it will never be forgotten. One menu has never had such scrutiny prior to ordering! A must for serious food fans.
Our second visit and didn't disappoint. Wonderful food, friendly, helpful staff and a real treat.
Only problem was a very strong smell of meat being cooked, noticeable the moment you entered the restaurant.
As always peerless - service attentive and kind, food just out of this world. Feels like the kind of place you want to keep secret!
Punchy flavours, great food, pleasant well-informed staff in a lovely airy room.
Superb meal. Lovely and laid back, food done simply with love care and attention to detail
Always great food, wine and ambience. Haven't had a bad experience at St John!
Perfect balance on the plates and perfect balance of professionalism with friendly humility in terms of service and the restaurant itself. Welcome back, St. John! So glad to be able to experience this treat after lockdown, despite the hospitality industry having taken such a beating over the last year.
The special came tepid, seemingly precooked. The quality of the produce also didn’t seem to match price, both food and drink. That said the horseradish was fresh and excellent, and the beetroot salad decent. Overall a bit of a let down.
Not terrible by any means, just an ordinary meal.
Food was exquisite. Service great and will return soon.
Another great meal at St John. Always outstanding food and excellent, friendly service.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Just an absolute banker of a great meal every time. Service lacked the sharpness of the pre-pandemic but holding no grudges here!
Outstanding, beautiful, delectable, aways consistent
Amazing food and drinks. Would highly recommend trying
Fantastic lunch! Welcoming and friendly staff, delicious food and drink, great atmosphere.
Absolutely outstanding experience for a lasting memory.
Our waiter Lucy was wonderful, in fact all staff we met. We had a lovely evening, thank you.
Still some of best food to be had anywhere on the planet. Didn’t love being sat next to the dish return. Also, 2 hour dining limit not great if you want to try lots of dishes and take your time, but quality of food, flavours and fantastic staff knowledge remain outstanding as ever.
It was AMAZING, so happy they are back!
Simple interior but really friendly staff, dishes cooked really nicely. Very clean as well
Wonderful restaurant, great atmosphere, friendly and good service and - most important - great food.
Wonderful service. Terrific to be back
All of us dining quickly agreed that St John quickly slipped into our favourite dining experiences. The premise is simple, great ingredients, cooked well and no need for much else. The service is spot on- the right level of relaxed, a great wine menu to accompany and the desserts really hit the spot to finish. Looking forward to when we return!
Excellent food as usual - quality is consistent over the years. Service was alright but not spectacular. Could be more attentive and approachable.
It's no accident that St John has been around for as long as it has and barely changed in that time - it's consistently exceptional and a restaurant that anyone who has in any interest in food must visit.
St John is a great place for the freshest fish, meat and vegetables. The simple decor belies great skill in the kitchen, backed by friendly professional service.
Wonderful as always. The cooking is sublime, the room is beautiful, the waiting staff so attentive and discreet.
Tremendous food with generous portions that completely justify the price. The wine selection is also excellent across all price points. Food came out fast but the service was a little slow, could probably have got an extra glass or two of wine out of us if they were more attentive! I found it surprising that the waiter didn't know what came with one of the dessert options but I guess the menu changes daily so I can't fault him too much for that.
Highly recommend eating here.
Wonderful experience, fantastic service, delicious food
Food very salty, not visually appealing and nothing special. We ordered the longhorn and braised pork, both very underwhelming, only upside to the meal was the bone marrow appetizer. Very overpriced for what we were served, not what I was expecting from a michelin star restaurant. A meal we were both looking forward to in celebrating our anniversary turned into a bit of a joke for the night.
We enjoyed our visits, beautiful settling really cool waiter. The desert was to die for as was the steak and wine.
The thing that isn’t cool is the tips. It is good ethical practice to allow the waiters to keep their tips not keeping them yourself and saying the tips are part of their wages, this is the kind of thing that could give the restaurant a very bad name. We wouldn’t return unless this is addressed.
Never disappointed when we choose to dine here. Fabulous.
