Celebrating the finest of indigenous British produce and making the most of what is seasonally best whilst applying straight forward cooking techniques, St. John is now celebrated as one of the 50 Best Restaurants in the World and in 2009 was awarded its first Michelin Star.
Nose to tail eating means that, where appropriate, every part of the animal should be put to good use in the kitchen and so along with Roast Beef and Lemon Sole, diners will find Rolled Pig’s Spleen, Kidneys and Ox Heart, Liver and Chitterlings as well as the Roast Bone Marrow & Parsley Salad, something of a ‘signature’ dish.
Whilst often cited as not a restaurant to take a vegetarian to, the kitchen source and prepare dishes for vegetarians with the same amount of studiousness as they do the meat, fish and poultry and desserts.

Waiter was so rude. I asked if he could talk us through the menu and he spoke in such a condescending way that I wanted to leave the restaurant as fast as I could. We ended up taking away our dessert.
The legend continues. Super service, fabulous food.
Excellent. Traditional but not tired fare. A deep respect for the animal is evident.
Outrageously delicious and reasonably priced for such incredible food. Understated environment and very comfortable for that reason. Clientele reflect this relaxed mood. I can’t wait to come back!
As remembered and expected very tasty nose to tail fare. My only issue was the overly fatty mutton stew. It was too rich for me but was gobbled up by my younger dinner companion.
Briiliant - as always - look forward to visiting you again on the other side of lockdown.
One of the best meals we have had in a long time. Fantastic wine, fresh ingredients that they make exceptionally tasty. Great value for the amount of food as well. Don’t miss out on the madelines - they are devine!
Excellent experience - from the service to the food and wine!
It’s easy to see why St John is such an institution on the London food scene and beyond!
Delicious food and very helpful waiters who helped us choose wines to match our meal.
Perfect pre-lockdown lunch. As ever, all conceived and executed perfectly.
conviviality and edible joy of the highest order, as always.
The latest in many visits to St John and it never lets us down. Food, drinks, service and atmosphere always perfect.
Great food and wine, amazing service, wonderful atmosphere. One of my favourite places in London
Always wonderful! I’ve been a regular for 25 yrs.
Simple (yet not simplistic) quality British food. Great atmosphere and place, very relaxing. Would recommend both for romantic date & group dinners.
Good innovative menu as you would expect, showcasing best of seasonal British ingredients. Starters were quite excellent - I had mallard with Beetroot, my partner went for the famous bone marrow. Mains were good - nicely cooked seabass with deep fried potato (well done but nothing spectacular), Guinea fowl with anchovy broccoli (same). Desert was a little disappointing - bang average chocolate cake & bread pudding which had too much going on and was just a little too burnt to justify as a feature.
Side of welsh rarebit was very good but be warned it's extremely filling.
Good waiting staff (attentive not over the top making you feel watched), Impressive wine list, and an atmosphere that I enjoyed - reasonably informal and relaxed.
A little expensive for what it was but certainly nothing unreasonable for a Michelin star establishment.
Unwelcoming service, waiter possibly had a bad day? food nothing special. Disappointing. Was looking forward as wanted to go for awhile. Expected better.
Loved our meal at St John - the service was impeccable and it had a great atmosphere. Would obviously highly recommend the bone marrow, plus we loved the crispy pig skin and crab toast as well as the ox tongue (favourite) and the mutton. Will definitely come back!
It’s just easy I’ll Since 15 years the best restaurant of London
Excellent food and service. Very well organised with plenty of the latest procedures and protocols to ensure safe dining.
Great Experience as always at St John. Everything just right.
Wonderful experience as always
Wonderful food and service as always, even with Covid safety measures in place.
Great food & wine served by knowledgable well trained staff.
The food here is delicious and inventive. Now London is in a higher tier for Covid you have to check in with email and details. But I didn't really find it a hassle. The atmosphere was good and lively despite not all the tables allowed to be occupied. A three-man business lunch was getting into its third bottle of wine but their noise level was not a problem. The dessert alone - prune trifle - was out of this world and worth the visit.
Amazing as always. Couldnt recommend it more!!!!!
Great to see people out and about during these times, food was excellent along with the whole experience
Superb as ever. Great service, great wine, great food.
Best restaurant in London... Super tasty thought out menu with great service in a beautiful building
Top class food, excellent wine and a good wine recommendation.
Thank you x
Delicious food, phenomenal service, lovely atmosphere .
Took my family here for my son's 20th. The food was immaculate - everything we had was delicious - the produce seems all to be of a very high level and there is a good selection on quite a short menu. The staff were lovely and very helpful and we were reassured that the restaurant had very good Covid protection in place. I tried 2 different wines and both were very good. Generally a very enjoyable evening and I would highly recommend.
Delicious, thoughtful, seasonal - a genuine dining experience
Covid précautions adequate
Food very different experience from norm
Professional friendly service meant we were neither rushed nor left waiting.
A classic. Unique, consistently reliable and always great food. The best restaurant anywhere.
Simple, classic, clinical brilliance. Even the covid-related restrictions and protocol somehow seemed to knit perfectly into the overall experience. Only at St. John.
The food at St John's is totally delicious, perfectly crafted, but be prepared for a heavy meal, everything is deliciously covered in lard and or butter.
Always fabulous. The rarebit is one of my favourite things in the world!
Excellent food. Managed the curfew well. A pleasure as always.
Really fantastic flavours and quality wine menu. Loved it
