Stables Ranch Grille - Tubac Golf Resort
In 1996 the resort was again in the limelight, hosting notables Rene Russo and Kevin Costner during the filming of 'Tin Cup'. The gathering place of this fabulous resort hideaway, Stables is known for its simply perfect steaks, fresh fish and unique Mexican specialties. Executive Chef John Wooters creates the menus, directs the kitchen and enjoys planning banquet and specialty wine and tequila dinners. Stables is known throughout the region for its ambiance, cuisine and hospitality.
Service is extremely slow. Food was lukewarm after waiting a long time. At least the bread was tasty.
Visiting the Tubac area and picked out from reviews. All was good. Only minor issue is noise, which I tend to be more aware of as I age and my hearing goes.
I was very excited to dine here & the menu sounded great when checking their website. We had a reservation & were seated on time. The service was a little slow but adequate. The ambiance was very nice & this was the best part of of the dining experience. I ordered the chicken breast & my husband the meatloaf. My chicken breast was rather tough & also dried out, even though covered in a sauce with peppers. I felt like it was not a very good quality piece of chicken. My husband had the meatloaf, which he said was ok but nothing special and has had much better. All in all, eh...ok, but frankly shocked this is rated as a top restaurant by AZ Highways.
Excellent as always. Very consistent with nice ambiance
Used to be a favorite.... very disappointed with prices, service, seating arrangement
We like to die in here while it is still light outside. The view from the windows of the dining room is quite beautiful. The dining room itself is rustic rather than elegant. Also, when the dining room is filled to capacity the noise level is uncomfortably high. The food and service are excellent, however.
Our annual trip to Arizona to visit the in-laws always includes dinner on the patio at The Stables. The setting outside is fantastic as the sun goes down. The waitstaff is attentive and the drinks are fun. The food this visit was disappointing, including one steak that was difficult to cut, much less chew. My hope is this was just a bad night because the Stables has been a tradition we look forward to every year. This is such a beautiful little desert resort.
Lovely place, however our service was slow. Our waiter, Carlos, was great- very attentive. However, the food was slow to come out. We ordered a hot appetizer but it didn’t come before our entree. It was served with our entree and it was cold. I ordered the Sea Bass and it was excellent. My husband ordered the ribeye steak and it was just mediocre- wasn’t hot and sizzling and wasn’t the cut of meat we expected for the price. The bread pudding dessert was amazing. Carlos took the appetizer off our bill, which we appreciated. We’ll give them another try, but won’t order the steak next time.
Thank heaven for Carlos! We had been seated for fifteen minutes with water and menus but no waiter. The waiter for the table next to us was catering to every little request of theirs without aver acknowledging our existence.
Finally Carlos came over and said”I don’t know why no one is helping you but I’ll take care of you”. After that his service was outstanding and the food was excellent.
Wait staff needs more professional training. The setting is beautiful and the ambiance is wonderful.
Service was very poor. Server did not attend to us at all. Food was only warm when served. Food was very good.
I felt the server tried her best but was over matched in terms of the demands.
I would return as we have been pleased in the past.
Christopher's excellent and friendly service made the food and overall experience even better than our previous visits.
We have been here many times and always pleased with the friendliness of staff.
The food and drink is good with a wide selection to choose from.
The resort grounds are reason enough to go to this restaurant, but the food was what made the night. I was pleasantly surprised. Creative takes on traditional dishes. Not your typical gold club food. The only downside was the cleanliness. Our table had food and silverware underneath it when we arrived, there was a horrible septic smell coming from somewhere, and through I asked twice, there was never any hand soap in the ladies room. Little things like that make me worry about kitchen cleanliness, and seem especially egregious when one considers how much one pays to eat there.
The place is nice inside and out, the food was above average but there was a table with several older men who were loud and used to many expletives, and there were children and women in the eating area and the none of the service people were bother by it or said anything.
I did not intervene, bad, very bad.
Awesome environment, the entrees were outstanding, and our sever was attentive without being overbearing. We will DEFINITELY be back again
Ambiance of the Stables Ranch Grille is rustic warm and authentic. Everyone in our party of three thoroughly enjoyed their meal. My husband and I had the ribeye and they were perfectly prepared to med rare+. Service was prompt without being burdensome. The only suggestion I offer is to not have the golf cars parked outside the dining room in front of the pond, hence ruining the view! The view is beautiful with the pond, green grass, mountains and animals...the golf cars do nothing but distract from enjoying what makes the grille a wonderful place to dine.
Excellent food and service, wonderful cozy, rustic atmosphere with a great view.
Very nice get together to celebrate a birthday with friends. Excellent cocktails and wine list. The menu had many diverse choices. Dessert was the molten lava cake to share. Wonderful experience.
Always a great experience. Food good a usual as is the service.
First time to dine at the Stables Restaurant was one of the most enjoyable experiences in dining than I have had in a very long time. I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys fine dining!!
We love this resort and this restaurant. We have dined here many times. We noticed this time that the waitstaff seemed rather distraught and not very happy. We also feel that they need to up their game on their menu. For example: What was listed as flatbread was actually a frozen pizza. The margaritas were fabulous!
Service average and food good but not over the top. We ordered a bottle of wine but she only poured the first glass and didn’t offer to cork the remaining wine as we were staying at the Resort but did not finish the bottle of wine. It was my husbands birthday and I told them that when I made the reservation but nothing special was done for him from a desert perspective. We did order a blueberry bread pudding which was very good, I had chicken pasta dish and my husband had the beef stew. Both were good. I think more effort from the waitress would’ve made the difference.
Stables remain one of our favorite restaurants. Western atmosphere, great food and excellent service. Mid day patio dining is great as well with views of the golf course.
The food was not what we ordered and awful. Husband ordered Blueberry Belgian Waffle with a side of bacon and I ordered Strawberry Banana Candied Pecan French Toast. We waited a very long time (mind you they were not busy, it was a Thursday between breakfast and lunch). The nice waiter came out and said cooks dropped his waffles and it was last of the batter and what else did he want. Um, so you can’t whip up more batter? Wow. So he orders pancakes. A while later out comes the food. Husband’s pancakes are so-so (not fluffy at all) and his bacon is like beyond dead. Dark brown and devoid of flavor or meatiness. Just blah and disintegrated when touched. Then comes my French toast (inner two cold, outer two warm) with NO candied pecans. I ask politely for them. The gal (new to us) says she will bring a side dish of them. Our male waiter comes back with cold walnuts. I am allergic to walnuts and note I would have ordered something else had I known they didn’t have the nuts. The strawberries were white. Ew. So all in all it was terrible. The waiter was nice, the view was awesome and they didn’t charge for my French toast. But we won’t be back which is a shame. Years ago the food was great and matched the great view so it was a wonderful restaurant; now...skip it!
We repeatedly return for big events like birthday celebrations. Have never been disappointed with food or service. When we go in December, we get to see the Christmas decorations. Love walking the grounds. As with most public places, noise level is hard for those with hearing disabilities and hearing aids. Too late, we thought about having asked for a table away from the other diners for possibly more quiet (this last visit that may have been an options). As all visiting family enjoys this locale, we will be returning.
The Stables is always a winner, the Prime Rib on Wednesday night is fantastic!!!!
Very difficult to find after dark! Area not well lit at all!
I knew my cousins would be thoroughly impressed with dining at Stables. Everyone loved the ambience, the food, and great service. This is my favorite place to dine in all of Arizona.
The server Guillermo saved the day. It appears as if the staff was unable to handle the pace of work. Although Guillermo was not assigned room our section. He was the only one diligent and accommodating. Dessert options were great and the view of the golf course
Everything was wonderful and made all the better by Marta our server. She is special! Please let her supervisor know from us!
Perfect! Great server.
Everything about this location is lovely, the food and drinks exceptional, and Monica is a really special bartender! We 4 ladies thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Very Nice !
We had hair cooked into one of our dishes
It was replaced but no further compensation or apology was offered
I found this to be very disturbing
Considering we eat here often
Birthday. Great view great food great service
Tin Cup Margarita is the best Margarita I have ever had in a restaurant! The Chile Relleno is perfect. Light golden brown, gently fried and stuffed with heavenly melted cheese. Well worth the drive from Tucson!
Tried their Tuesday Pasta Night but was not as impressed as ordering a fresh pasta dish
We love the Tubac Resort - our son and daughter in law got married there 4 years ago. We always try to take a weekend during the summer. It's the perfect getaway from Tucson! Everyone we came across couldn't be nicer and more helpful.
