When we serve a steak, it’s not just about the pleasure of eating, but the culmination of the perfect Yorkshire process; the welfare of the animal, the care of the farmer, the diligence of the preparation, and, of course, the skill of the chef.
We believe passionately in animal welfare and full traceability, so we source all our produce locally – from farmers we know personally. Our Wagyu Beef is always hand selected, aged for up to 28 days, precision trimmed and cooked with care over our Josper Grill.
Our kitchen team is led by head chef, Jonathan Davies. Jonathan is trained to a Michelin star standard and has worked in some of Europe’s finest restaurants.
Agréable steakhouse avec un décor sympathique
Our party of six were impressed with the quality of the food, especially the steaks which were tasty and tender. The staff were attentive without being overpowering and we felt well looked after.
To hear the words "this is the best steak I've ever had" uttered from my wife's mouth is one of the largest compliments you will ever hear
Stockdales has very comfortable interior with the right level of noise to be able to enjoy a conversation. The waiting staff were the right level of attentive with a great knowledge of the menu. There was a wine to suit every taste and budget. The duck egg starter was very decadent and a great portion size. We would definitely visit again.
It was a birthday meal which everyone enjoyed. The steak was really good but our party weren’t keen on the smoked taste. Service was excellent and the birthday treats were a lovely surprise.
The food was excellent. Subtle and imaginative. The service was good, friendly and attentive. Just a really nice place to have dinner.
faultless and fabulous
Noisy and poor quality food. The restaurant obviously hasn’t been looked after since it first opened, dirty tables and chairs and really dusty.
The place is just horrifically noisy, it’s gone from a quite high class steak restaurant to what is akin to a Toby Carvery for new-money chavs. Kids screaming and running about whilst the parents don’t give a toss.
Gutted it’s gone downhill so much really as it used to be really nice.
Best steaks in town- great service and sophisticated place.
Absolutely fantastic, we have been a few times now and it never disappoints. Would highly recommend to everyone. The staff are friendly and attentive and the food is amazing. Thank you for making our Anniversary special
Fantastic food, good service, highly recommended, centrally located, all good.
Visited on our wedding anniversary and were very happy with our food choices. Although primarily a steak restaurant other choices were readily available. Nice touch at the end with a petite fours plate with Happy Anniversary written on it. A good experience.
Lovely meal, all really enjoyed everything we had. Highly recommend
Mussels starter amazing 10/10
Sunday lunch was disappointing the beef wagyu topside was ok bit chewy which I didn’t expect and the accompanying veg and 3 roasties weren’t the best. Expected a nicer Sunday lunch.
Ambience amazing so quiet. Service also fine but 1 guy was abit pushy kept asking if I wanted drinks but I didn’t want to drink alcohol only waters.
Complimentary sourdough and oil was gorgeous too. Might return but won’t get the Sunday lunch.
I have been to Stockdales many times and up to now the food has been excellent however on this trip both my partner and I ordered Ribeye steak which was very tough & not enjoyable. Hopefully this was an exception.
Lovely food, excellent, attentive and knowledgeable service. We will definitely be returning!
Great food, little over priced, service was ok, was a little over familiar by calling one of our guests ‘mate’ but would recommend and go back
We visited Stockdales a number of years ago for my husband's 40th birthday and I'm pleased to say the customer service, food and overall experience did not disappoint again. On this occasion, it was for our 2 year wedding anniversary and the staff kindly surprised us with a complimentary dessert to share, which was a lovely thought.
Gorgeous food again at Stockdales. We had the chateau briande, which was amazing. Highly recommend
Lovely birthday meal, everything delicious and especially appreciated the dessert Happy Birthday plate
Amazing venue for a birthday meal, all meals by all were fully enjoyed. Beautiful presentation, flavours and great service by waitress team. Thank you. I look forward to coming back.
This was the first time we visited Stockdales and we were in for a pleasant surprise. From old fashioned dinner etiquette to great staff, this has just become our new favourite restaurant in Leeds.
By far the best steaks available. Highly recommended.
Great food, great service , great value for money, great location, great ambiance, if you haven’t been before try it you won’t be disappointed
Amazing service as always, the staff were so accomodating as we had a sleeping three year old with us. The food was superb, steaks were cooked perfectly with great sides and ended with an extra special birthday dessert.
a spontaneous lunch with my boyfriend in a lovely lunch atmosphere 😊
Fantastic, the food was amazing we really enjoyed it. Only downfall was the food did take along time to arrive, however when we did receive it the standard was fantastic. Full of flavour.
Fantastic food and great friendly service. Everything we tried on the menu was full of flavour - especially the bone marrow and house gravy, I would highly recommend giving these a try!
A group of six of us had the loveliest evening at Stockdales. We'd specifically asked for a table where we'd be able talk without shouting so were given a circular table towards the back of the restaurant which suited us perfectly. Really great service and delicious food meant we had a happy and fun evening. We all said we'd return.
Good overall experience, nice food and service. Gave 4 stars as I put in the comments when booking that it’s my husbands Birthday. When we arrived and throughout our dinner nobody acknowledged this or asked us if we have a special occasion to celebrate. For me this makes or breaks a restaurant from being outstanding.
Amazing food and service.i can’t wait to visit again.the best steak I’ve ever had
This was our first visit to Stockdales, as a group of 6.
We we're greeted by a friendly young lady, who advised that our table wasn't ready as yet, and after taking our jackets, directed us to a snug area where we ordered drinks. Our table became available after around 15-20 minutes, where we were then shown to our table.
The starters ordered were Mackerel, Soup, Scallops, all of which were very nice. However the Lamb Fritters I found the 2 on the plate quite small and dry and the 1/2 Lobster Thermidor was a very small lobster, only 2 small pieces of meat in the shell, very expensive at £20 for the small amount of Lobster meat.
The mains ordered were Belly Pork, Fillet Steak, Fillet of Bream and Mixed Grill's, the Mixed Grill is very good value for money. All the mains were very nice.
Desserts were Sticky Toffee Pudding 'delicious' and Cocktails which were very well made.
Service was excellent I think it is a wonderful touch when the waiting staff know exactly what each person has ordered when they place the plates down.
The overall evening at Stockdales was very enjoyable.
This was our 2nd visit to Stockdales and this time we took a couple of friends with us. All of us enjoyed the ambience and the food. Three of us had the featherblade of beef, which was delicious and the other person had the fillet steak, also delicious. The waitress was attentive and appeared genuinely interested in our dining experience. A definite return, next time we visit Leeds.
Having previously visited Stockdales for a dinner, I booked the restaurant for my graduation. I told them well in advance that I was vegetarian, yet there were only 2 suitable dishes available. I ordered the cauliflower and bulgar wheat and it was quite frankly the worst meal I have ever received in a restaurant. It was over cooked, bland and had the consistency of porridge. I just can’t comprehend how any restaurant in this era can offer such poor vegetarian choices. The only redeeming factor was that the dish was immediately wiped from the bill. However, I am always going to remember a very negative aspect of my graduation and for that I believe the restaurant deserves 1 star.
Blade of beef was mouthwatering and we loved the dripping dip that came with our bread. Perfect setting to celebrate our dauhter's graduation. Service was friendly, efficent and inobtrusive. We would have no problems recommending this restuarant.
