Stones Restaurant Matlock Ratings and Reviews
Couldnt fault the night, staff and food were amazing. Only thing i would change is next time we would like to be seated in the conservatory and not near the door, although i think this was down to us not booking early enough, apart from that, all in all 5 stars. 100 percent will be returning.
2 of us enjoyed the tasting menu with wine flight which was absolutely delicious. It encouraged us to try things we wouldn't normally which were all fantastic. Staff were friendly, welcoming and very informative about the food and wine. Overall a lovely experience for a birthday meal which felt more special than a normal meal.
We had a lovely dining experience: when we arrived early, before opening time, they greeted us warmly and it was no problem at all. The selection of food could not be better, the service was delightful and the atmosphere pleasant. The two course meal was excellent, beautifully cooked and presented. We had little free tasters to start with and finished with homemade complimentary chocolates. What a treat! They also have a great winelist with a selection of European wines which are not often found in an English restaurant. We definetly got value for money and would come back any time.
Such a lovely restaurant with so much attention to detail. The service is excellent, friendly and seamless.
As was to be expected the restaurant was full for lunch. We had a varied selection of dishes to choose from. They were all so appealing that we both feel we must return soon to taste some more. Matlock folk are so lucky to have Stones on their doorstep.
Our favourite restaurant and we've recommended it to friends who also loved it. Can't wait for our next visit. We had the taster menu again, which is very creative with a superb blend of flavours - just the right portion size, meaning you feel full but not overblown. The staff as always are delightful, attentive without being obtrusive. Well done to everyone at Stones
Absolutely love it here. My husband and I often visit for special occasions, but for our most recent visit took friends with us. They loved it too. Food is fantastic and all the staff are lovely and friendly.
Would recommend to anyone for an extra special lunchtime or evening out.
Saw this restaurant when we were on holiday in the area and managed to get a table for lunch on the same morning. I mentioned that we’d be bringing our 7wk old baby and the staff gave us a great table with space for her basket. Restaurant was lovely, service was excellent and food was delicious. We’ll definitely be back if we’re in the area again!
We took the train down the lovely Derwent Valley which meant we could have a drink. Its a great way to get to the restaurant as its situated opposite the station. This was our first visit and we were impressed. The service was personal, but not intrusive. The food was well prepared and presented and represented good value for money. Certainly won't be our last visit
What a jewel. An excellent restaurant hidden away in a small town in Derbyshire. The atmosphere relaxed and efficient. The service was very good, the perfect balance of attentive but not intrusive, with charm and wit. The food was outstanding, dishes normally only found in big city restaurants, at twice the price. The oyster veloute was particularly good.
