Had a lovely lunch here, the food was really good (biggest posh ham and chips I've ever seen!), and the service is faultless. We lingered long after we had finished our food and paid for it, without feeling any pressure to leave. Highly recommend.
Whilst I appreciate it was busy..we had booked and would have expected our table to be at least laid. Cutlery arrived after food. The food lovely but asked for child's portions did not get that and lots of waste food. Had to ask to be served for drinks. Some of the food cold.
Very nice food and portions are a good size, and at a fair price, staff were friendly and provided a good service
It was a very pleasant experience with two different generations eating together, two 80plus grandparents and two 20 plus year old grandsons. Good menu to suit both and ambience lively enough for youngsters but not too noisy for the oldies.
High quality food, excellent service at reasonable price.
Lovely food, quick service, lovely setting, definitely worth a visit.
Lovely food, convenient to get to, noise from the road is a bit much at times. Staff were very friendly but did have to wave them down a few times to get extra drinks / menus etc
This would have been five stars for everything, but the main part of the veggie option for Sunday Lunch - a sweet potato and pumpkin seed polenta slice - was rather under-seasoned and bland, and the ‘maple roasted carrots’ were outrageously sweet! However, the service was excellent, the waiting staff friendly without being overbearing, and the non-vegetarian Sunday Lunch was terrific.
As always, lovely food and friendly attentive staff.
Menu was a bit limited. And my pasta was way over cooked which was a shame as it was a nice dish overall. On the fence for recommending.
Very enjoyable limited menu well cooked overall very good
It’s a very enjoyable and relaxing atmosphere with fantastic food and service from the staff and very good pricing of food and drinks in here!
I can’t understand for the life of me how I made a reservation for 7, got a confirmation email from the restaurant asking if I was still coming (to which I replied yes) and then when I showed up with my family, was greeted by a server who told us “we’d have to hurry up because we stop serving food in 7 minutes.” Everything was so rushed that three out of four of us ordered the same thing.
Also, we ordered halloumi fries for an appetiser which came with a sweet chilli sauce. 3 of us ordered salt and pepper tempura shrimp as a main which came doused in the same exact chilli sauce. Sickeningly sweet, store bought, bog-standard commercially made sauce. Wouldn’t a heads up from a server be a nice touch, someone who cares about the dining experience? Half the Sunday roast menu was unavailable as well. Not sure why the restaurant would be open for dinner and accepting reservations at that time of day if there wasn’t enough food to go around.
My parent’s were staying in a room upstairs also, so we were sort of shocked at the lack of hospitality. The bartender seemed to be making as much racket as he could with glasses and cutlery, to the point where we stopped talking a few times and looked over to make sure there wasn’t a brawl going on in that side of the room.
All in all, a rather disappointing experience. We’ve been looking for a local place where my folks could stay on frequent trips up from London, but I’m not sure this is going to be the place.
Fabulous food! As it was Sunday we chose the roast. Chicken snd beef. The food was delicious, hot, tasty and well presented.
We had not visited before and found the food to be excellent, it exceeded our expectations. My partner loved his roast pork and the pesto was super tasty with the halmoui burger. The service was great, really firendly staff. We will be back!
What a place. Great food, excellent range with plenty of gluten free options. Lovely staff and a very reasonable bill to finish it off. Highly recommended
Staff were excellent. Food was really nice and good price
Creamy garlic mushrooms. Starter was superb and of the excellent quality food we had come to expect , we had ham. Egg and chips for main, but in comparison to starter it wasn't really all that, too much ham and too many chips which weren't overly special. Ham was incredibly salty and had a strange texture. Our table was unfortunately sat facing a wall hung light bulb which irritated my son as he was sat under it and it was shining right in our faces on the opposite side. I appreciate social distancing but maybe some better positioning of tables or light shades would be more pleasing. The waiting service was spot on and very attentive, the pub was clean and tidy as were the facilities.
My birthday meal with the family . Sat outside with heaters and had a lovely evening. Thoroughly recommend.
Lovely modern pub/ restaurant. Lovely outdoor covered eating area and clean and modern inside.
Staff were attentive and friendly but not too pushy. Good lovely too.
Would go again.
Another fantastic evening at the Sugar Beet. Food was lovely and the staff were great.
Lovely place to eat menu could be more extensive, but very good !!
Good food as always at a good price and a friendly atmosphere.
Had a lovely breakfast. Quality ingredients. Friendly service.
Good food as always, staff very nice very clean environment
4 of us enjoyed our meal very much. My only personal criticism was that I asked for a slice of bread with my tempura prawns (which were lovely) but bread wasn't. Was given two big door steps of very dry granary bread.
Unfortunately no steak or roast available. So limited menu to choose from.
Nice peaceful environment, food was good and service fast and friendly
Nice roast dinner and very good service thanks . Excellent roast beef cooked pink which was tender and very tasty !! Was late in the day so had run out of roast potatoes , but was offered a substitute .. excellent value we will be back 😃👍
Lovely Sunday carvery the vegetables are delicious
We enjoyed the meal and everything about it, apart from individuals on the next table who were smoking which was nothing to do with the restaurant but just individuals not thinking about others
Lovely breakfast, a bit slow service but will come back again :)
