Best brunch in the Valley hands down! I always take my out of town guests there because of the wonderful overall experience.
Alynna was absolutely amazing
Love the vibe of this restaurant and bar. Very vibrant and no specific age was predominant. Service at the bar was awesome and well taken care of by all staff behind the bar. We ordered a few Happy hour appetizers that were awesome. the Enchiladas suizas were fantastic! The bacon wrapped dates were good. Off the regular menu we ordered a few things to share. The ginger rice, the Pad Thai and some type of tuna avocado roll. They were all three good but nothing exceptional, as they need a little something to enhance the flavors. Will definitely give this another try.
The food was delicious, the server was great, but we got seated by the door just behind the hostess desk and it was really warm. I feel really bad for the hostess.
The ambiance in the restaurant was amazing! From the second we got there they made our anniversary so special. Thanks for a wonderful evening! Can’t wait to come back soon
A great place for friends-get-together. Mexican/Asian makes it easy for anyone to chose and be happy.
Loved the ambiance. Food was top notch and served to perfection.
Sat outside. Waitress didn’t even come over to offer water for probably 15 minutes. When she did apps came quickly but while one dinner came out in a reasonable time frame, the other three took probably 45 minutes. Everyone was apologetic but all in all it was still moderately disappointing. Food was good as usual but the service was uncharacteristically terrible.
The sushi was great but the entrees were really small portion sizes. Mostly the Dynamite Lobster barely had any lobster meat in it
Great experience with wonderful service! I will be coming back.
I cannot express how AMAZING this place was. I was in the area to celebrate a birthday and this place did not disappoint. Everything from the food to the service was exceptional and I cannot wait to go back!
We went to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and were greeted with 2 glasses of champagne decorated with a flower. Our server Erin was as outstanding as the food and presentation.
Our meal was capped off with a lovely dessert with a flaming flare which was really fun.
Thanks for a great night.
Sushi was amazing!
I have been using Open Table App since 2012. I normally do not write reviews. However, this one is important.
The person at the check-in counter yesterday (July 20, 2019) didn’t know how to be polite and respectful to elders. Didn’t listen and tried to enforce whatever she had learned or had to say regardless!
Sumomaya is a good restaurant. That’s why we go there. However, if we continue to note this kind of behavior then we’ll stop going!
Don’t know if anyone from the management will see this review. I hope some one does!
We arrived to live music and the sense of celebration. Nice beginning! The menu was for brunch; fun idea that didn’t disappoint when the actual food arrived. Service was excellent. But, because of the music, people were actually shouting at each other to be heard. Detracted from the overall experience.
One of the best meal experiences this year.
I feel lucky that we were able to get a table for 14 at this amazing restaurant! Bri made it simple to plan the dinner for my coworkers. Audra took brilliant care of us all night and got everyone what they needed. Would highly recommend this place for tasty guacamole, tacos and ceviche (veggie rice was amazing too!).
The environment was amazing and great decor. It really helped the entire vibe but with how busy it was our service was incredibly bad and it was so hot inside!
It was so incredibly hot in there this past Sunday. People were literally sweating. Staff were fanning themselves.
My first drink was warm - should have been cold.
Our sides were forgotten about.
I’ve been numerous times. I chose here to celebrate my birthday. Probably won’t choose here for my birthday again.
Was good, sushi was great, tacos were spicy
Patio isn't as comfortable as we were led to believe. It was warm with no obvious relief from misters. Food is excellent but the noise level both in and outside is HIGH. Really hard to have a normal conversation.
SumoMaya is a fun experience with a creative menu and good cocktails! Whenever visiting Scottsdale we make sure to have dinner at SumoMaya one evening!
Good restaurant- food is usually good. Service is very spotty at times. This time was ok, nothing special
Delicious and eclectic menu. So unique and surprising. Took my sister for her birthday for the first time and we thoroughly enjoyed. Each dish more unique than the previous one. Explosion of flavors. Highly recommend the octopus ceviche with butternut squash, the calamari appetizer and the sea bass. Our waitress was energetic and very informative.
GREAT guacamole and sea bass dish! Our server was really knowledgeable on menu! Come to LA!!
One of my favorites. Very trendy LA vibe inside. Amazing cocktails. Chilean sea bass is amazing! Also love the pomegranate guacamole, fish tacos and all their sushi. A really fun place!
Fois gras roll A+
It was a great place for a celebratory dinner. Our server was great but really wish he would have exhibited more personality instead of being so super scripted.
This was our second time at Sumo Maya. The food is no doubt fabulous. We also loved our drinks—especially the golden triangle. Only downside is that it’s VERY loud. We were shouting to talk to each other.
Great shrimp appetizer.
Made a reservation via OpenTable and stated it was our anniversary. We got to our table and there were 2 glasses of champagne waiting for us. Our waitress was amazing. The entire dining experience met our expectations, above and beyond honestly. The vibe is 10X better than the food though.. But we got a free desert and service was perfect. We will be back!
The food was amazing and it’s best to order several dishes and share.
I think this is an okay restaurant, but I wouldn't pick it for a special occasion. Made a rez for my husband's birthday. Requested a nice table, and noted it was his birthday on the reservation. Were seated at a small table right next to a large, very loud party. They moved us when requested. The next table wasn't anything special, but at least it was quieter. The tables for two are really small for a tapas-style place, where there are many plates. Draft beer was a no-go for the night. Guac and ceviche were very good. Peruvian corn, not so much--more like a soup. El Pastor tacos were a bit dry. Nothing was done around desert time to celebrate the birthday, nothing mentioned. I could deal with all of this, but the place was really uncomfortably warm. I'm not a big person, and I'm usually cold, but it was not okay at all. A disappointing birthday.
Fresh and delicious food with open kitchen. Bar was not well stocked and did not have the items listed on the menu (I ended up having to order 3 separate times to find a beer they had available); reservations were at 8:30pm and kitchen closed at 9- we were rushed to place our order. Low stock was coincidental but don’t offer reservations so close to when your kitchen closes, especially for tapas-style dining. If you eat early, I highly recommend!
The food was great, cocktails delicious, ambience superb. However, if you have an open kitchen and people are still dining, I’d suggest waiting to break it down for the evening. Some breaking down, quietly, is reasonable but when the sauté cook is standing on the stove top scrubbing the oven hood, it’s a bit much. And when you offer coffee, and the diner says yes, maybe your reply should not be “we would need to make it”....yeah, we know...it’s a restaurant, that’s what you do...make stuff. Thank God the the food was good though.
Better experience during the past visits but this time the main beer tap was not working so only bottled beers were available. They were also out of stock of many bottled beer selections.
Appetizers were good as usual however the pork tacos were not as tender as normal and very chewy.
I frequent Sumomaya whenever I have guests in town as it is one of my favorite places. However, my last 2 visits I have had extremely poor service. So poor that this most recent visit will probably be my last. When the manager shows little to no concern for your satisfaction that is a clear sign to find a new favorite.
I looooooove SumoMaya, one of the few places I frequent since moving here from Denver 11/10-great food-fun atmosphere
Great vibe and fun atmosphere.
