A little disappointed. Server was really nice but omakase didn’t live up to expectations. The first round was very good. Then there was a long wait for the second, which was ok but not great. Then another longer wait for the third round where the wagyu beef was overcooked, the botan ebi was dry and seemed partially cooked and the uni was super dried out. The outside dining seemed well lit on on side where a group was taking videos of them eating, and our side lacked any light, not even a fake candle or something. I mentioned it was a birthday on reservation but it was never acknowledged. Lastly, there was a gentleman, who I assume was a dishwasher of sorts, going in and out of the restaurant, watching tv by the restroom not wearing a mask properly and caught him a few times petting dogs outside. Gross. I know these are tough times, but the overall concept didn’t seem to play out well.
I know it’s the time of crisis, but I can’t say we enjoyed our first dining out in a few month. We see their delivery service is busy, and our three courses Omakase took two hours outside in cold while watching them making delivery order inside. Once it comes, the food is ok. Can’t say I didn’t like it but not worth $98 to be honest.
First time tried them for outdoor seating and very happy about it. The patio and the counter outside are awesome and provide nice ambiance. The food is outstanding especially sawara with garlic chili oil. The service is flawless
Wow. This is far and away the most overpriced sushi I have ever eaten. It was good quality, but seriously, the prices are jaw-dropping for what they put on the plate. I'm rooting for all restaurants in this challenging time, but this place is not worth the price. Crazy.
Good quality and tasty, but not really authentic. You can definitely get full from their Omakase
One of the best meals I've ever had in my life. The 15 course omakase is a must; reasonably priced and absolutely flawless.
Love this place
The food was delicious and one of the best omakase meals I've had in the city. The chef was attentive and we felt very well serviced. I would recommend to anyone looking for a great meal
If you want a solid Omakase spot, this is then place to do it. Staff was super attentive and the quality of the fish was incredible. Have already been recommending.
Amazing sushi & loved sitting at the sushi bar. It was pretty expensive though!
It’s too slow though. 15 sushi plus 1 row took me 3 hours.
I've been coming to Sushi Dojo since they opened in 2013. They have changed many chefs and many sushi concepts over their years in business, but always successfully. Their product have become better and better as well as the chefs. Tonight wasn't exception. The food, service and ambiance was exceptional. My bows to the ownership for making it happening through all these years.
Fantastic as always
Uri was not fresh, felt sick after eating it. Ruin the night, not worth the money
Food was good, however I believe the chef got backed up and was very slow between each piece. Reservation at 6pm didn’t get the last piece until 8:10pm
Amazing sushi, but strange elevator music, a host awkwardly trying to turn away people who had reservations (because they’d only made the reservation 30 minutes prior and he clearly felt like going home), staff screaming at a delivery person (over and over over the course of at least 20 mins), and a space that looked like a real sushi restaurant had moved out made me extremely squirmish. I nearly left, but was so hungry I decided to risk it. Luckily the food was amazing, shame they can’t get the vibe to match. This could be a real neighborhood gem if they fixed the glaring issues.
best sushi i have ever had... Ken the sushi chef led us through an amazing omakase
Really enjoyed the dinner. I would come back with my friends soon!
I love sushi dojo. I’ve had omakase here probably around 4 times now and each time was an amazing experience. They do a great job of keeping the experience very engaging and the food is fantastic. Perfect rice to fish ratio with lots of different textures and flavors. It’s amazing how the rice makes a huge difference. Definitely recommend this place for a date but it is pretty expensive. But for the experience and food it’s definitely worth it. Will be back again!
We did the 15 piece omakase at the bar. The sushi was delicious. The ambiance and service were pleasant as well. The only complaint I would have is that I was still a bit hungry afterwards.
This is an excellent sushi restaurant. Service is good. Sushi is made to order. Few non-seafood options. A good list of sakes.
Definitely got more than I expected here; foie gras, truffle, etc. Very creative eats for a sub hundred dollar omakase.
We have very good omakase. I would recommend to try if you want smth light.
One of the best Japanese for that I’d had ever
First omakase, won't be the last. Had an amazing time
Delicious omakase menu at the sushi bar, with very interesting and varied sushi. Overall good value for the quality and amount of the sushi, especially compared to some other high-end places in NYC. Definitely recommended!
Excellent omakase. Would 100% recommend. The pace of the meal is great not too fast not too slow.
The omakase was very poorly presented by the restaurant. For the price, it was not terrible, but not great either. Overall the portions were small, which is fine when the chef's recommendation is explained well (hence the meaning of お任せ- meal selected by chef. The waiter asked if we wanted to know about what we were being served when it arrived, naturally, we said of course that would be great. The music was fairly loud, not a very relaxing or interesting environment. Do not recommend this place.
My wife and I had the omakase sushi+sashimi which was a delightful and delicious experience. A treat of sights, smells and tastes. It was so good in fact we ordered even more on top of the original 12 courses. Excellent service. We will definitely go back.
Super fresh ingredients, outstanding omakase selection, skilled chefs and great service.
Amazing delicious fresh sushi, and super friendly waiter thank you
Meticulous care in preparation of the most delicious sushi!
We had an 8pm reservation and were not seated until after 9pm on our anniversary. This was supposed to be a special occasion and it was made stressful but this establishment's greed in overbooking. The food was good but did not warrant the price tag. There are many great omakase menus in NYC. Do yourself a favor and pick a different one.
the most amazing experience!!!!! Omakase was a pleasure.
The omasake experience was very good. The 15 piece sushi and 1 hand roll were expensive but worth the experience. The ambiance was good where I feel I have the attention of our chef and our needs are being catered. This omasake experience has a more traditional feel compared to other ones I have experienced before and it does feel like I hopped into Japan for a different experience.
The service was very detailed. The chef observed that I was a lefty and ensured the sushi is served to my left so I can enjoy the food. This experience was to celebrate my friend's birthday so they served an ice cream mochi with a candle so it was an excellent touch from the restaurant so I appreciated it.
Overall, very satisfied and will recommend to my friends to enjoy a traditional omasake experience.
Decent sushi on a budget...the fish pieces were hit or miss and wasn't too thrilled that almost half the items were seared. The server and chef were nice and polite but I wouldn't go cross town but if you are in the east village this could be an affordable omakase option.
I was expecting rap music and more lively staff. It was kind of hard to hear from the chef sometimes. I did not know what the pieces were sometimes. A few pieces tasted pretty similar.
