This is one of those hidden gems you'll be happy to discover. It's in a cute old Inn with a wonderful setting, great food, and friendly service. We had the nicest time and can't wait to return. The duck confit salad, scallops, halibut, and mixologist drinks were all wonderful.
Elegant and safe outdoor dining. Food and service were both outstanding.
Great, cozy place. Good menu, great bar, lovely ambience.
Tabard Inn is an old school, boutique hotel and restaurant. The food is good and the table service, excellent, although the hostess seemed either tired or uninterested, when we arrived. Unfortunately, its ambience has suffered because of Covid restrictions.
Been here before years ago. Decided to come back when visiting DC. Food did not disappoint! Wonderful grits, but rats, and baked goods. Great patio that is very relaxing. Service was a bit haphazardous. Our waiter seemed to disappear after food was served and then random other people kept coming in to help.
Let’s see. Excellent food (halibut special, lobster ravioli, Caesar salad), terrific service, beautiful setting (the patio), and very comfortable table spacing and ventilation. Hmm. Yup, that deserves five stars in every respect.
My friend and I wanted a quiet dinner and were not disappointed. The restaurant is quaint with nice decor. It had ambience even though it was quiet during our stay. The food was well-prepared and delicious.
The menu is a bit limited due to the current situation but everything is made fresh that day, so definitely a worthwhile trade-off. I would recommend and will return.
Amazing in every way. Meal is foodie-fantastic. Service is outstanding.
Once again, a splendid meal and service at a unique outdoor and covered patio.
Luis was our server and he was charming and gracious. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. What was extra special was the setting. Upon entering the old hotel we had no idea a mystery garden with sculptures and ambient lighting awaited us. So beautiful. We will go back.
Great anniversary dinner!
Excellent food at decent pricing. Beautiful . I ordered the fish of the day. It was generous portion sized and cooked very well so that it was moist and slightly crispy
How can you not come to The Tabard Inn while in DC. Brunch for us is everything and there is no other spot to come. If we know we are going to be in DC for a weekend we make reservations. That is a must so you get a table. The food is amazing. For those that like a guilty pleasure, you must have a donut...or two...or three. Served fresh and warm with whipped cream. Heaven!
Nice and cozy feel even while accommodating the restrictions due the pandemic. We are in the rooftop like courtyard area and the ambience was nice. The food was good, a little pricey but not too bad. The wait staff was amazing!
Due to covid we were almost alone the the Resturant . We had hear great things about the Resturant we decided to give it a go. Food was good. The Burrata with green fried tomatoes was excellent as well as the steak as chicken dishes. Services was excellent,
The hostess was extremely rude and inconsiderate. Otherwise, the wait staff and food were excellent!
Brunch for my boyfriend’s birthday. The food was outstanding, the hotel itself is incredible. Would absolutley go back.
The Tabard Inn is a very quaint place whether you are staying in the hotel, drinking at the bar (non COVID) or having a meal.
My family had never been and/or eaten there before but I've stayed many times. Our brunch was terrific and everyone was impressed with the food quality and service. The décor is beautiful on the patio.
We would definitely brunch there again.
This restaurant covered all the bases and provided the experience you only hope to have when you go out to eat. Service was exceptional, the manager was polite and generous, the food was delicious. I hope the Tabard Inn survives the pandemic, it’s one restaurant that deserves to stay around.
Exceptionally loud in the covered courtyard so much so that you cannot have a conversation with your dining partner without talking loudly. This is because of all the hard surfaces in the space. The tables are Home Depot patio type metal with diamond mesh tops that rock back and forth on the floor. (Not sure how those types of table tops can be sufficiently cleaned because of the open mesh) The food is good but not as it use to be pre-COVID. The wine list is scant and not many interesting options. Not sure I’d return until a vaccine is available and dining can return to being inside and the food /wine comes back up to par.
I continue to dine here because of the delicious food, attentive staff and the overall quality of service. They have made a wonderful space for diners to eat safely and comfortably.
Brunch daily! Who doesn’t love this! The food was excellent and was easily enough for more than one meal. The courtyard was charming at first glance, then, you notice the art. It is the season for ghouls yet my feeling is that this is the decor always. It tickled my quirky sensibilities yet it’s not for the squeamish among us.
We had a great time out on the patio. Gigi was a fantastic server. Looking forward to returning.
They did a great job of socially distancing us. Food was good, service excellent.
Terrific food; lovely and quiet ambience; careful attention to keeping diners appropriately distanced; attentive wait staff - the perfect place to have our first dinner out in 6 months.
Food is really not as good as it used to be - not worth the price anymore
Excellent service and food. Very courteous staff
Great to have a meal at a restaurant after far too long. They have done a great job of separating the tables throughout the restaurant and the atmosphere in the courtyard was very pleasant though I did get attacked by mosquitos.
Great food, nice atmosphere. Hope the staff was coming to us more regularly, but under the situation, it may have been difficult.
My friend and I really enjoyed the outside patio and ambience of this place. The food was also very good! Definitely worth a visit
Wonderful spot for our anniversary dinner. Very good food, excellent service and perfect atmosphere on the patio.
Excellent adaptation to CV-19 and food as good as always.
The service and space was great! I have to return as the kitchen did not have an oysters for a po boy. But I enjoyed my BLT and gazpacho.
Thank you for a lovely lunch!
We had an absolutely fantastic time at this gem of a restaurant. The vibe is eclectic and artsy without being stuffy. The staff was attentive and kind. The food was delicious. Each plate was better than the previous- not sure how they kept topping themselves! We are especially impressed that it is an employee-owned company. You will not be disappointed for choosing the Tabard Inn for dinner.
Amazing place with great food and great cocktails!! Everyone in our group had a great time and liked their back patio. Friendly staff and the manager, Gris, was awesome!!!
The service and food were outstanding but the mosquitos made outdoor dining impossible. They were so accommodating packing up the entire meal to take home to eat. The pandemic makes indoor dining feel like a thing of the past...for the foreseeable future.
We had a lovely anniversary dinner sitting on the Tabard Inn's patio. There was just one other table occupied in the patio and it was a good distance away. We had the ceasar salad and arugula salad, the softshelled crab and NY strip. All was well-prepared and delicious. They also brought us complimentary prosecco and dessert for our anniversary which was lovely.
Fantastic ambiance, service, and food! Order the donuts and the corned beef!
It was excellent and very peaceful atmosphere and intimate
The outdoor dining experience was lovely..lifted our spirits
