Food was very good but WAY overpriced — $35 for a tiny rockfish filet. Service uninspired and abrupt. Venue is aesthetically charming as always but quality of overall dining experience is not at the level it was in prior years. Many better options out there, I will not be back.

Wonderful date night evening, with an early start so we could get a spot on the comparatively quiet patio. Servers provided good care without hovering and our server recommended the perfect French sparkling rose to complement the watermelon gazpacho and duck breast entree. Desserts - be sure to try one! Music- some of the loveliest tango music. A perfect romantic evening.

Patio is shaded and lovely, it was delightful to sit outside at the Tabard on a not too-hot evening. Always good food, gracious service (thanks Gigi!) and a magical setting whether inside or out.

My Husband and I went to Tabard Inn for a dinner date. We sat outside on the covered patio and the dining experience was magical. We felt like we were in a secret garden. The food was wonderful. We shared the calamari and octopus for an appetizer. My Husband enjoyed the perfectly cooked duck breast, while I enjoy their special for the day (rock fish over a bed of vegetable risotto, and topped with a roasted red pepper sauce). I added the sautéed mushrooms to my dish for an earthy twist. Everything was delicious. We highly recommend this special gem of a restaurant

The service was tepid at best. The “homemade” biscuit was hard as a rock and the house made preserves were bitter and tasteless. I paid $7.00 for a strip and a half of bacon which is absurd. And while I waited for my dining guest to arrive, I was offered water and nothing else. My waitress had a wariness and trepidation that made me wonder if this is the right line of work for her.

We went on the advice of a good friend. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and the Tabard Inn did not disappoint! It started with a. Personal written card if congratulations and two glasses of champagne. We shared the buratta and the salad special both amazing! I had the special of the evening, rockfish and my husband had the steak. Both of our meals were perfectly cooked. We shared the German chocolate brownie for dessert. We could not have had a better meal or evening.

Exception experience. A much needed summer respite. Menu was just right. I’m a polenta snob, the pork belly polenta starter was amazing. I chose that for my entree and the water melon gazpacho was a perfect compliment to this evening . Thank you .

The Tabard always has excellent food, and it's a hidden gem in DC. If the weather is nice, sit on the patio, but if it's hot or cold out, the inside dining room is perfect. The service last night was a bit odd. We had an 8:30 pm reservation and arrived on time. It took a while for us to get sat, and then for our waiter to come by for the first time, only to tell us the kitchen would be closing at 9 pm and we needed to order quickly. We ended up feeling rather rushed at the end, too. We wanted to have an after-dinner drink with dessert, but the bar had already closed, and we could hear the sound of a shop vac doing some work around the corner. Timing and service should be adjusted to match late seating times. Otherwise, I hope to be back soon and enjoy one of my favorite restaurants in DC.

We celebrated a special occasion and had dinner, mid week at 5pm. It was very empty and we had our choice of covered patio or inside. It was lovely , service by all the owner employees was Excellent: attentive, friendly efficient. Food was excellent and all onsite or farm fresh. Presented nicely, good portion size. Only negative of eating outside was that we got 10 mosquito bites between two of us, but we are highly susceptible. The staff was so helpful even with this! Highly recommend!

Someone I had not seen in over 40 years happened to be in town for a conference. She loves classic old places that have history and maybe even stories about being haunted, and Tabard Inn did not disappoint. I lived in the neighborhood 35 years ago and yet had never actually eaten dinner here. Our server, Fatima, not only was very attentive to us during our meal but also shared with us some stories about sightings of possible spirits or ghosts. My friend loved it and I was entertained as well. I would most definitely come back the next time I’m in town.

Always great food and the prettiest little patio in DC. It’s great because it’s an indoor patio but has outdoor vibes. The service is always very good however a little hard to hear through the masks the staff still wears. Cocktails are excellent and always interesting.

The woman at the front desk remembers my request via email to sit outside along with my name. Very impressive! Friendly service. I hadn’t been there since they enclosed the garden-like out door eating area and was disappointed at the new look (6 years ago) but it was pleasant.

I hosted a party of 5 for my daughter's birthday. The. ambience continues to be wonderful, warm and quirky. However, the food was quite bland -- lacked seasoning. The service person was very nice, but it took a very long time to get our drinks and took a long time between courses. The bill was slightly higher than I expected, but considering the mediocracy of the food -- it was expensive. I will go back for drinks or brunch, but not dinner.
