Had a lunch here and decided to try it as a dinner venue. Overall very disappointed the staff were unfriendly, struggled at a basic language barrier level and failed to bring any drinks orders correctly or on time. They reached right across my guest's face to deliver drinks over the table instead of walking round. The calamari starter was rubbery. The mains were fine but the sides for them came out over 10 minutes later. On clearing the plates the waitress dripped sauce into my guest's lap. Shame as I had big hopes for this place but would not recommend.
Taberna Etrusca always provides delicious food but can be a bit quiet in the evening.
Nothing exceptional, quite average food despite great looking menu.
Excellent place for a proper Italian lunch. Great value 2 course menu, definitely recommend that
This place is very good, with a little bit of extra effort it could be brilliant!
Good lunch menu
A restaurant with a real table cloth in the city at an affordable price, nice food and perfect to have a good talk
A great place for an outdoor weekday lunch. Attentive service, delicious and authentic food and a courtyard that's shady but still outdoors.
Fine weather so sat outside in the courtyard. Excellent tuna steak.
This was my first visit to Taberna Etrusca and the restaurant was not overly busy as it was a weekday evening. I visited with a friend and our food was, in fact, delicious. It was my birthday and the restaurant helped us celebrate! Thank you. We had a lovely time.
If it's going to be Italian then this is the our default place to go! As always, love this restaurant and more importantly the food! My personal favourite on the enzo spag bol, an absolute winner! You can also have starter sizes for your mains, but be sure to tell the waiter/waitress head of your order. There is some really cute outdoor dining space too, you should put the request in early as in the simmer months it is usually booked, in fact it's always best to book ahead for seating as it's very popular for business lunches.
Taberna Etrusca is a tiny piece of Italy, uprooted and planted in the City of London. Delicious cucina casalinga, a good and not over-priced wine list and friendly service. It can be quite cramped but the jolly atmosphere amkes up for that.
Delicious, authentic Italian food and nice wine, and friendly, helpful staff. Will definitely go back!
This is not the first time that we as an office have all gone to this restaurant for a lunch. It is a smart casual restaurant that is equally able to handle a business lunch. It has a very homey feel - like you are in Tuscany in a family restaurant. The food has always been excellent and good value for money. Will be back again!
Even though this is only over the road from my office, first time here and went on strength of recommendations. Went for a social occasion and was happy enough - think I may use it more for business meals going forward. Assuming you have 2 courses and a lower-to-mid-range bottle of wine, this is easily a £100 - 140 meal for 2, inc. service charge. We had a £29 bottle (which I have to say was very good, an Italian blend I hadn't come across before), one pasta main and one meat main, starters at £10/11 and it came in at £100. So...do I think it's worth it? There is no doubt this is authentic Italian cooking and the osso bucco was a good "test" dish for that. Lobster ravioli very good, a bit light on portion size perhaps. The service was friendly enough though the multiple attempts to top up the wine glasses (when barely touched )was OTT. I would be happy enough to go back for the cooking, but think it's more expense-account territory for me personally. Will return on that basis!
The food was excellent. Everyone of us said we would definitely go back. The service was exemplary and the staff very helpful. There were dishes on the menu which we thought would not go well together but we were proved wrong. There was a great variety of choices too which you don’t often see in central London.
Definitely worth going to. Excellent authentic Italian restaurant.
I truly love this restaurant. Good food, good service at a very reasonable price.
I always go back when I want to a hassle free evening and don't have to worry for a second about the food, wine and service.
Fabulous food as usual particularly my personal favourite the veal Milanese!
This was a last minute booking for a get together of 7 friends and we chose this restaurant out of few options as we all liked Italian food. Unfortunately, when we got to the restaurant, it appeared that the only option for a group of more than five people was to have the Christmas menu, the fact that wasn't made clear we made our online reservation. This menu wasn't really Italian (turkey but no pasta), which we could have overlooked, but it also only gave an option of ordering 3 courses (and of course paying for 3 courses even if you only were hungry to eat one or two!). The manager was unhelpful, and just repeated that no other options were available to us. We stayed only because it was too much hassle to find another restaurant. As a result one person in the group didn't order anything at all, and some hardly touched deserts. Difficult to understand this inflexibility in a half empty restaurant for only 6 of us ordering (I would understand if it was a larger group), and forcing to order and pay for 3 courses is a rip off! Unbelievable the restaurant thinks it can get away with it. Food itself was ok-ish , definitely not coming back.
Lovely meal with friends - delicious authentic Italian food and good service in this quiet little restaurant, tucked away off Cheapside. Will return!
Always good food, service and wine
Great food and freindly staff. Menu was great much better than the usual chain restaurants. Would definitely recommend
The food was lovely and the service was friendly. We both ordered the lobster ravioli which was perfectly made. We also treated ourselves to dessert, which were equally good.
Ok place for business lunch. Fish was quite dry. Service a bit cold but ok for business
as usual all good, enjoy very much going there and have been going for over 30 years
I have been eating here since 1970 and keep coming back !
It's still under the same family ownership and continues to offer great food and attentive service in an historic setting, with outside dining lending an extra dimension in the Summer.
The private courtyard out the back is lovely! Would defiantly recommend this (weather permitting).
Food overall was very nice at a reasonable price for the area.
For a quiet night the staff could have been more attentive to us. But overall, lovely evening!.
The restaurant was reluctant to let us have one of the two outside tables (which were set for four) as we were only two, saying they were booked - so we ate inside. Yet no one sat at either table during the three hours we were there. Clearly neither table was booked.
Brilliant as ever. One of my favs happy new role lets me dine there more often
The food was not good, we had starters that would be just about acceptable but the main courses, one veal chop and a Rib Eye steak certainly were not. The veal chop ruined by some glutinous gravy and the Rib Eye steak ruined by having half an onion cooked on top of the steak and all that one could taste was the onion. Good meat ruined for no reason! The plus side a very nice Chianti Classico.
Unlike my last visit the service was a little disappointing and inattentive!
nice atmosphere and reasonable food. Service left a lot to be desired. we seemingly had to try hard to get the attention of our waiter.
with plenty of options in the city they need to try harder.
Solid but unspectacular. My arancini starter was nice but needed to be a bit warner. Wife's prawn starter was good but lacked any kick from the chili. We bot had the veal for mains; it was a little tough and lacked any strong flavor (either the veal or the accompanying sauce).
Staff were attentive, helpful and friendly. They did give us a free dessert as we were there celebrating our anniversary which was a lovely touch.
I get the feeling from the speed our meals were delivered after eating that the raison d'etre for this establishment is business lunch - in and out in under an hour. Would recommend it for that but nothing further.
Great food in a pleasant environment, right in the heart of the City (off Cheapside)
Lunch for three on Monday 27th Feb. Food was very good. Service was a little bit indifferent ; it is a City restaurant so busy in the week, and the waiting staff were pleasant but not interested. Also if you are sat near the door, ask to be moved; many people do not seem to know to close the door to the street, and the staff didn't seem to notice. I would go back (and have been there before), but next time I would choose where to sit.
Quite a narrow menu
This was a dinner for two on Valentine's Day. The restaurant was featuring a special Valentie's menu.
The service was rushed and a bit clueless, and the restaurant didn't seem geared up to an evening operation, much less a 'special' evening - as opposed to hurried lunchtime service in the heart of the City. So there was no champagne available by the glass, only Prosecco by the glass or full bottles of champagne. We ordered cocktails and a bottle of wine; the cocktails appeared but the wine was forgotten and had to be chased. A bread plate was on the table (with no bread on it) and was taken away, so we had to ask for bread. Water was not offered; we had to ask for it especially. There were no sides offered on the menu, and sides would have been sensible to go with the dishes concerned. The food arrived quickly - far too quickly - with the starters appearing while we were still drinking the cocktails.
Most of the food was actually good - tasty and well cooked - as were the cocktails and the wine (when it eventually arrived). But the way the whole process was handled, was unimpressive. On Valentine's Day evening, I don't expect to sit down at 8pm, and to have had cocktails, starters and main courses, and have ordered dessert, all before 9pm.
This restaurant may be fine for a quick weekday lunchtime meal, but I wouldn't consider it for an evening meal, much less an 'event'.
Very good Italian restaurant with good food and good service. Large menu catering for all tastes with authentic dishes from Italy. Good find.
Waited too long for food. People ordering after us being served before us. Food was very desapointing (grilled octopus was way too dry and chewy)
