It had been a while since I visited and am so glad I did. I live in the South Bay so my friend and I wanted an early dinner. The parking is a breeze with valet parking for $7 - unheard of in downtown. I started with a drink and some oysters while waiting, and the oysters were delicious, but not quite cold - which I found odd. They were good. The bartender was friendly, made great drinks and apologized profusely after having computer issues when running the check. Once seated we ordered the tuna on rice cake, the Japanese tacos, the spicy shrimp and the sea bass and rib eye robata. I have to say the spicy shrimp have changed from my recollection of them. I recall them being much bigger, and while okay, I would probably not order them again. Everything else was delicious. The robata was exquisite. The sea bass melted in your mouth - I could have eaten a dozen! The rib eye was so tender that chewing was optional. Both could be entrees. Our server was attentive and friendly, and even the busser was on it -removing each plate the moment the final morsel was removed. It's not cheap, and it doesn't taste like it. I will be making another reservation soon.
We celebrated our four year anniversary here and loved it! The food, location, view, drinks, and attention from our server and the manager were excellent! Will definitely come back here.
We were disappointed the lounge was closed ;(
We will come back
Overall I had a great experience. The food was very good, service was great, and the location was a super nice setting. For my 1st visit I was very impressed and will be back again.
It was great! Great food, service, and ambiance! A bit cold though, but the heaters and the blankets helped.
A restaurant that’s lost a bit of its sheen. Still excellent service and a great view. Food is fine
Great atmosphere, drinks and food were excellent and the view was the best.
We got seated the minute we came in. Service was absolutely smooth. Food and drinks were delicious. Will come back for sure.
Fun spot with a good view of DTLA and beyond. Sushi is creative and great. A good choice for a pre show dinner as you can be done in 1 hour but still enjoy yourself.
Came here for dinner before our concert. I’ve been here before and loved this place. Great spot, with good food, good drinks, good crowd, and amazing views.
This experience: not impressed. At all. The manager came out and spoke with us, at which point everything was starting off great, but it was at the beginning of our experience- maybe he should wait for the latter part of the meal so people can really tell him what’s going on. Our server only came around once to check on us, and got our order wrong. When told, he said he’d fix- but never did, so we only got two thirds of our dinner. Lastly, we had to wait 25 minutes to get our check. Not happy.
I loved coming here. But if this is the service I can look forward to now, not coming back.
Overall everything was good. Definitely order the miso sea bass!
Had the best view! Perfect date night spot
Takami is one of those restaurants that tends to leave an enduring and indelible impression long after
your dining experience. From the moment you enter and take in the city skyline to the impeccable attention paid to service to a well appointed / menu selection and finall,y but not least, is the food and presentation - what's not to like. Thanks again for a satisfying dining experience.
Always have an amazing experience even tho I was late. Thank you guys!
This is one of my favorite places. I love their sensation hand roll. The Serrano kiss is a good drink. All and all it’s a good place for sushi and robata. Highly recommended
Great all around!!
Wasn’t expecting when I saw the pictures on yelp, but was actually a good place for dinner. Nice view and nice food.
Lived in DTLA for 9 years and just discovered this place! Very simplified decor with a great (open window)view from the 21st floor. Food very good - we had shishito peppers, tofu and fried eggplant appetizers and the seared salmon sushi. No complaints about the service either. Will definitely go back!
Good sushi and some things like scallops were exceptional. But I felt pressured to order more and even more annoying was patronizing waitress. I was taking three millenials to dinner who have no money and as the senior person I made the reservation and planned to pay. When my thoughtful millennial surprised me by secretly paying half the check I was annoyed with waitress for not go ing ME the check and she was pretty snotty about it. "Our POLICY is to take payment from whoever hands it to us first." Cmon lady...this is L A
Show some class! Also, weirdly enough view is only good from alongside window...also, closes too early (10) and valet downstairs ce looking for us at 10. How about valet gives u time to get downstairs? Duh. Nice manager tho.
Nice view from outside of Downtown LA. A bit more expensive than I would have liked. restaurant is located more than 20 floors up in an office building. It was a bit hard to find from the street level as I was expecting to find the restaurant on the ground floor.
The food was so good. The albacore sushi was melting in my mouth. Seeing sunset up in the restaurant was amazing.
Great food with a great view. Definitely will be back.
The food was pricey given the small portions. The rainbow roll was skimpy. We wanted to take advantage of the happy hour prices but the restaurant required us to sit in the lounge which was not as nice as outside so we weren’t able to take advantage of happy hour. Other restaurants don’t have this requirement during happy hour. Two of us dined- our meals came at different times. Our server was a little too attentive which became slightly annoying. The men’s bathroom was flooded yet the workers seemed to know about it. We sat on the outside terrace which was lovely with beautiful views that got better as the evening progressed. Didn’t see any parking options other than valet at $10.
Table next to us was extremely loud! Not regular fun loud.. extremely obnoxiously loud. It is a fun restaurant with music and a club right next door so a certain level of noise should be expected. However this was very unreasonable and I wish the waitress stepped in and have them quite down just a bit rather than simply apologizing for them...
The ambiance was great and if you want dinner with a view you definitely get it here. The food was ok, nothing to rave about. I think the food was way to overpriced for what you got. You basically are paying for the views. Service was adequate, but not outstanding like I would have expected considering my bill. I would only return for the views and not the Food.
Food quality dropped and it smells inside the restaurant
We had made reservations for the happy hour but found out when we got there that the section did not need a reservation.
We got seats and enjoyed are time.
They were flexible and our server was fantastic.
One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Food was amazing! Manager was delightful. Great experience!!!
Has an amazing view, haven’t tried all their foods but good for the most part, I wouldn’t say the price match the quality but the overall experience is why you can say it’s the high. Maybe happy hour might been better
The service and food was excellent. The ambience was great. You guys accommodated my request for a booth for a special first date. You guys ever disappoint thank you.
Location and views parallel
Service was also on point
Even though most patrons seemed to be there for a dinner date, this is also a perfect place for a special family dinner (we were there for that type of occasion).
It was wonderful sushi, service, and weather. We will be back for sure.
One of my favorite restaurants. Food is always amazing and the service is fantastic!
The food was awesome, as always. I deducted one star because even though it was a Monday, the place felt understaffed and it appears they restock their bar on Tuesday, so no Stoli for us.
But every person on the staff is wonderful and with so much for a small crew to handle, they were their usual warm, engaging selves.
My favorite sushi spot in Los Angeles with the perfect view of DTLA
Service was great, portions were a bit petit but great quality.
Very hip. Great crowd and great food and drinks. I'd highly recommend it.
It was my birthday and had very good service. Portions were a little small. We left and ate some street food after.
Great service! Expensive.
Great service!!!! And excellent environment. Highly recommend this place!
