Tamashi Soul is located on 1849 Union St. in the heart of Cow Hollow. Union St. has a long history of great restaurants and we hope to uphold that tradition.
Using the freshest ingredients we aim to take a contemporary approach to traditional Japanese cuisine.
I had a great time - went on a first date (those can sometimes be awkward) but it felt like the staff was really there for us! Also great food and kind service.
The staff was extremely accommodating with our changing reservation, we really appreciated their flexibility!
Glad that Tamashisoul is back in the game! Love this place. Great sushi and drinks. The outdoor seating was good, but I’m thinking non-see-through plastic between booths would be best. The sun was intense and if you’re going to create a screen to separate tables, why not black it out to promote privacy...and to keep the sun out.
Great experience and food!
They just opened back up this week after closing due to Covid. Sushi, goyza, and the avocado bomb were all fantastic. Service was a little slower but we were there to eat and enjoy our time so no complaints from me!
Truly sushi as an art.
Great sushi spot! The avocado bomb is amazing! Great spot for a date or just dinner with friends. Can be casual or on the slightly nicer date night option.
We waited 40 minutes after our appetizers had come for our sushi rolls. 40 MINUTES. Normally I wouldn’t complain about something like this but others who had come in after us had received their food before we had. I work in the food service industry and understand that stuff like this happens but an explanation was not given at any point. Also we came on a Friday night and it was incredibly loud. My party and I had to yell at one another over the table because the music was way too loud. In fact I asked a waitress if it was possible to turn the music down and neighboring tables thanked me for speaking up. Average food, horrible wait, but interesting restaurant
Second time visiting - our waitress remembered us - fantastic service and food!
We went during the blackouts in Marin bc of the Kincade & the restaurant was super busy for a Monday night. We sat at the bar & our bartender was busy, but still was super on top of everything and so helpful! He chose both of our sakes, which were delicious. The lights could have been a little dimmer, but that’s just splitting hairs. Great dinner. Definitely will go back.
Arrived at 645 on a Saturday night - place was not crowded, so did not experience the din that some other diners have experienced. Ordered several rounds of sushi and rolls, service was fantastic - every dish was explained perfectly. Looking forward to returning!
Good food and drinks. Great service. But the music was so loud we couldn’t carry on a conversation.
Excellent place
Attentive, quick service, friendly staff, and great food. Also had good happy hour specials. Nice family friendly place to come to.
TamashiSoul hit the spot for us - we were looking for a middle of the road sushi dinner near the Golden Gate Bridge. The reviews about noise and speed of service are 100% accurate. We're on the hard-of-hearing side and go to a lot of concerts so it wasn't terrible for us, but I could easily see others getting put off by the loud millennial-geared music. Tables are close together, so it helped drown out our neighbors. The cocktails were delish and sushi was fresh! 9$ for a single piece of sushi is a bit steep - we assumed they would come with 2 pieces for that price. We ordered the Wagyu and Tuna sushi (non-sashimi, the one with the rice mound underneath), they were OK but def overpriced for what was delivered to the table. Still very pleased with our meal overall!
Great service and food was amazing. Ask the server for recommendations, they are happy to help.
The food was exceptional. Our server recommended the tuna belly ( flown in from Tokyo this morning ), it was as good as any sushi that I ever had in Japan.
Very attentive service.
The ambiance is fun and lively (AND REALLY LOUD!!) including a corner with sports bar. It is age-appropriate for my 40 yo self. It was lively enough that I was totally surprised how good the food was. Fish is very fresh, portions are huge - nigiri platter is delish and a good deal.
Very friendly staff and chef.
I enjoyed my lunch.
Music is way too loud, service was not good and food was mediocre.
The sushi was really fresh and the atmosphere was very nice. We had torched salmon, Uni, and Wagyu. The most disappointing thing was that we found a bone in our torched salmon. After I told a waitress about it, they told me they would let someone know. They forgot about us until the waiter came with the next dish and I had to remind them again.
Great sushi, great price, perfect casual double date spot!
We were surprised the food was awful. Even the salad tasted bad - I don't think it was washed. We ordered salads, soup, potstickers and sushi. Both of us took a couple of bites of everything and left most of the food. I rarely leave a restaurant hungry with food on my plate. After we left, I went home and ate. I don't understand how this restaurant can serve so bad sushi and survive in San Francisco.
I loved the food and overall feel of the place, however, I felt pressured to quickly order and get out. The waitress checked in every few minutes which was too much. The place quickly became packed and very loud where it was impossible to have a conversation. They were very accommodating to my celiac and outside of the above it was a good experience.
The menu should mention when a fish has spicy sauce in a roll. Also, $7 for a bowl of plain edaname is a bit high. I have never had a spider roll with tempura shrimp instead of soft shelled crab.
Please hire servers who understand and speak English a lot better.
A great find in our neighborhood ! A new fave.
Okay spot but much too loud for a group of seven girlfriends to catch up. Food was good (loved the edamame) but not great, especially for the price point.
They changed the menu and prices and now it’s crazy expensive and not much has changed with the food. Very disappointing
Great appetizers and sushi, excellent service!
The food was some of the better sushi I have had in the Bay Area. Nothing overwhelmingly amazing but definitely a great dinner spot for date night, catching up with a friend, or just grabbing a drink and a few items to share for happy hour. Formal/casual blend where you can dress nicely but also can stop by after a yoga class (which we did).
Good food and service, but elbow to elbow seating and deafening noise level was not our style
Everything great but just too loud.
Great service!
Food was delicious. Fish was fresh and creatively prepared. Prices were very reasonable. The noise level was deafening though and really detracted us from enjoying our meal overall because we couldn’t hear each other across the table.
AMAZING sushi, 10/10 would recommend for any occasion.
Fish is fresh but the rice was stale
Brittany is the best
In City for vacation, and saw this on open table. Great choice! I highly recommend this restaurant for those whom are in search of great fresh sushi. Talked with local patrons and enjoyed their friendly conversation and recommendations for sight seeing in the area.
Friendly service. Excellent very fresh fish. Great flavors in the rolls.
San Fran is so expensive. So nice finding reasonably priced good sushi!
