Food was nice and lpesented well but main courses are expensive as you then have to pay extra for your potatoes & veg although this wasnt stated on the menu , we only found this out when we received our bill . The pub downstairs is quite tatty but you are taken upstairs to eat which is brighter & nicer . The service is very good & staff are friendly & helpful. Good choice on menu & nice variety of food ..Nice wines .
Have never been before to the Tartar Frigate but it was recommended by a friend. I was not disappointed. The atmosphere, the setting the food and the staff were superb. All being well I will be returning with my son so that he may experience what I have
We enjoyed our lunch which was very well cooked presented and served. We always have a lovely meal at Tartar Frigate.
Great views of the sea and harbour. Great kitchen with excellent sea food. Great staff making it all work well. Great place to eat.
Absolutely fantastic food and wonderful service as always. Would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Beautiful fresh food.
Staff were brilliant.
Top notch...
Despite arriving wet & weary over 2 hours late, we were met with a warm welcome (we did have the courtesy of keeping the restaurant informed), which was extremely welcome. Plenty of well cooked veg, and good sized portions. Nice views of Viking Bay. Thank you.
Food is fine but nothing special.. Its your standard fare tasty enough
A great restaurant with exceptional food and first rate service. A must do visit if you are in Broadstairs,
We had a family trip down in Broadstairs. Friends suggested Tartar Frigate. The food was amazing. Service was great. Eat Out & Help Out scheme was still on. It was great value. We had the Skate. It was absolutely amazing. The food came in with big portions as well.
In these uncertain times, eating out is such a treat. We made a great choice for our first night in Broadstairs. The menu choice was plentiful, my scallops were delicious, and my crab salad and new potatoes from the special board was superb. Others in my party had whitebait, pate and salt and pepper squid, followed by Sea bream and smoked fish pie, all delicious. Deserts were good too. Great service from a lovely lady with a table at the window, such a treat. We will return
Cheerfully greeted by the restaurant manager Limini who showed us to our table.
Magnificent view over Broadstairs Harbour and beach from our table.
The quality of the seafood was excellent and my skate in butter and capers was delicious and far superior to the several Rai au beurre noir I had tried in France and definitely superior to my own attempts.
Everybody fully enjoyed the wine and food and will certainly return when next in Thanet
Excellent food, wine and service. Felt very safe from a Convid 19 perspective.
Used to be one of the best seafood restaurants around. Let down by the salad having no dressing, missing items on my starter. No side orders to order from new menu but was offered them as the dish doesn't come with anything but it would need an explanation if they are extra charges or you could choose from a selection. Not the standard I'm used to from there .
First meal out since lockdown. Food, as always, very good. Salmon cooked to perfection and my partner had a steak which was a good size. Tables laid with only linen due to restrictions which does unfortunately affect the ambience of a restaurant, but that can’t be helped. Still one of our favourite local eateries.
Simply superb in all aspects. The service found the perfect balance between being friendly and intrusive, the food was outstanding and the view from the window was beautiful.
Average Pub meal, I’m
Surprised at the high reviews. It had no ambience except for staff shouting at tables and it all seemed a bit much first meal post COVID.. the food was ok, portions massive and seemingly new team members working or the team very unclear on what is currently allowed or being served. We visited Posillipo the next day and it blew us away and I’d recommend that over Tartar!
Had an outstanding 4 course Sunday lunch , big thanks to Lemini & her team
Very nice food, lovely surroundings, very nice friendly staffs food we will definitely be returning.
Enjoyed my Birthday meal very much, excellent service.
The waitresses were lovely and patient. Limited menu but sufficient choice. I had sea bass was lovely. My husband has skate which was a bit bland but he normally likes meat so fish wrong choice for him.
Considering the whole situation with coronavirus it was a pleasant experience and the food was first class.
best restaurant in Broadstairs for food and service. Great staff.
Sunday Lunch excellent, Large tureen of lovely vegetable soup, then good choice of starters (highly recommend the fish goujons or Chef's chicken liver Pate ), and main courses .
Had the excellent light Roulade for dessert .
Limoni and staff most attentive and professional
Fabulously delicious food. Excellent , friendly service.
Another excellent enjoyable experience, warm welcome and first class service, fabulous fish dishes and good wines.
Looking forward to the next time - thank you! Strongly recommend - this has become one of our favourite restaurants.
Lovingly prepared food of the highest quality. Friendly, warm people looked after us extremely well. It was a quiet, mid-week evening meal on a cold March night. After the meal we went down into the pub below and listened to some beautiful, live folk music. I thoroughly recommend this place.
Fantastic location and excellent food; very professional staff.
Excellent food and good value with the set menu. Loved it!
Wonderful food and service as ever
Staff fantastic as always, food was not up to normal standard
Very pleasant staff. Terrific food, just the decor needs some updating
Very good service and the quality of the food was outstanding along with the price.
Dined here several times and always spot on . Can't fault it .
Lovely food plenty of it,staff very friendly and helpful.
We will be going back asp
We love eating at the Tartar Frigate whenever we visit Broadstairs. The menu has something for everyone, the food is delicious and the portions are very generous. The staff are friendly and welcoming.
Friendly and helpful Staff, a lovely meal with plenty of choice in the menu.
Not only was it excellent value, but I couldn’t fault it!
No less than 6 vegetables served with the main course, and cooked perfectly.
I cannot imagine how anyone could leave either hungry or dissatisfied!
Never disappointed as always fab food and service. Can’t wait to go back
Restaurants should be about food first and service second. Both top drawer.
Deffo worth going too, wouldn't personally go a second time. I had the duck was cooked perfectly but not much flavour in sauce and daulphine pots quite blande. My partner had steak was very gristly and fatty. One waitress really welcoming and lovely other seemed very moody and not wanting to serve. Place is really cute and nice settings but tables well too small had no leg space very uncomfortable. So left straight away after main as couldn't sit there any longer. It's is a nice place but we just needs a few tweeks to make better.
