Great food, great owner, great value. Recommending them to my friends from now on.
Great food. Owners were very hospitable. Ive traveled to Isreal and this was the most authentic Med food, Ive had in NJ. Great place.
Food is good and reasonably priced for a kosher restaurant. Since they do not have a liquor license, I have seen patrons bring in their bottles of wine, kosher of course. Try it but make reservations.
We met friends there and enjoyed the band. The waiters were prompt, the food was good and the music was excellent although it was a little hard to hear our friends talking across the table and we moved to sit side by side to facilitate our conversation. The only slightly negative comment is that we ordered our meals on two separate checks. We ordered light items such as salads and falafel and chum is. Our friends received their food about 7-8 minutes before we were served ours which was slightly awkward. Even though our meals were on two separate tabs we were functioning as one group. Other than that we enjoyed our evening. We go to Tavlin often and recommend it. Their deep dish hot chocolate cake with parve ice cream is absolutely delicious!
Came in at regular day after work dinner with my ladies co workers. Service was quick. BYOB which was a plus! Had Branzino filet with cous cous and hummus to die for! Highly recommended!
Nice restaurant with good food and relatively quiet surroundings.
Food was excellent. we were upset that our friends didn't want to get a chummus plate for the table because the chummus is SOOOO GOOOD!! Next time we're ordering one anyway! A little bit noisy and a little hard to hear at times but manageable. Wouldn't mind the background music a little lower. Already a return trip
Very disappointing after reading all the reviews.
Great place, great food and a nice place to meet. Always.
The food is so fresh and delicious and the prices are so reasonable. Worth a trip.
food was great (every dish we got was great)
food came quickly
room was loud and a little hard to hear but was ok
never once did anyone rush us
we all left saying we have to come back another time
Consistently excellent food preparation and service. Eric oversees the restaurant Welland pitches in during busy times. We eat here often and highly recommend it.
Food always good. Service also, but not this last visit.
Food and environment was Wonderful but a little loud
The food was cold. And we were waiting too much time.....
Food was good especially the Mediterranean hummus bowl. Getting served initially was slower than usual.
Terrible...very slow service...noise level unbearable...food less than mediocre
4 people party; meal came out overcooked; new order not returned before all others finished their meals and side ordered (which was delivered separately was cold. Cancelled the order and did not get to eat meal. There was zero customer care and the owner, aware and involved, made no attempt to handle things in a gracious manner.
Have been there many times but will not return or recommend.
Food is great but service is really hit or miss. Sometimes you have a lovely server and get your food quickly, other times it takes a while. This last time was a disaster. We were there on father’s day. They supposedly were down a cook, but didn’t tell us until 2 hours later. Took forever to just get menus and for someone to take our order. The servers all seemed annoyed that we came there to eat (?!). Then it took almost an hour for some of the appetizers to come. Drinks never came. No one apologized or told us that there was an issue in the kitchen. After waiting almost 2 hours for our food and watching everyone else in the restaurant yelling at the owner and storming out, we realized it was time to leave. My kids were starving and I just needed to go get food elsewhere. The promises of “ten minutes” were everlasting. When I went up to say we were leaving and I’ll just pay for what we had eaten up until that point, the owner seemed annoyed that we were leaving. He didn’t really try to make anything right by us or the other several tables leaving. Just a shame bc we really like the food there but now all those in our party will most definitely not go back. If the owner would have been upfront about the kitchen issues, apologized for the wait and offered some appetizers or drinks, I guarantee all those people would have stayed. Just a really poor example of customer service and ruined a lot of people’s Father’s Day.
We all enjoyed our selections. We especially liked the fact that you could choose your fish entree and then choose the preparation option. They were very flexible about accommodating a request to prepare a side vegetable in a different manner than the standard offering. The staff was excellent, very pleasant.
I would recommend Tavlin for its wonderful ambiance, its Israeli food, and its friendly and intimate setting.
Tavlin is a go to restaurant for us. The food is consistently terrific. We also love being serenaded with music that we recall from our younger years. Can’t wait to go back
Over priced with poor service. The table we sat at was unstable and the wait staff did not try to fix it. The food was poor at best. The humus tastes as though it was our of a supermarket and was overloaded with oil. The blackened tuna was over cooked and had no flavor nor was it blackened at all.
As always, Tavlin is consistently excellent. Nice servers. Thankfully no special Mother's Day menu. We shared a couple of appetizers and the excellent Israeli salad. Shwarma was top notch.
Food was good not outstanding, however service was very slow. Even though it was Mother’s Day the restaurant was not packed; yet it took about an hour to receive our main dishes. Additionally, we had to constantly get the attention of the wait staff for water or the check etc and each time this took more time than most restaurants.
I had lunch with friends at Tavlin about a year ago and we all raved about the food. So when my friend came to visit from Florida (and I know she loves Mediterranean food) I suggested Tavlin and told her about the yummy lunch I had had there.
I felt really bad that I had built it up as being this terrific place that I knew she would enjoy. We were both very disappointed.
Tavlin rocks. While we started on the early end we extended into the dinner hour when it was busy. We enjoyed our shared plate appetizers and everyone's meal from the kid meal to the adult meals were outstanding. Also enjoy the BYOB policy! Cheers!
Tavlin continues to hit all the right notes. With a large group of family members including little children we wanted to be sure we were taken care of properly. We were. Food was excellent and service was excellent. Eric always watches over all with a good eye and a kind hand. Regards.
The food is very good, but the service is poor. It took over an hour for appetizers to arrive and waitstaff was routinely slow to respond.
A kosher restaurant with great food and charming architecture. The live music at night was a huge bonus!
Loved the band.
Food was good but expensive.
Would amd have recommended to a friend.
Eric is a friend and always takes good care of my fiance and me. The service, food and ambiance are a perfect blend.
Family visiting from Israel....and they loved the food...
And the boss...
The food is always great and plentiful. We had four servers come over to take our order. My wife asked what else was in the lentil soup. The sever said, just lentils. We insisted she ask the cook. Someone else, came, not her, someone more junior saying it has lentils, carrots, onions. The older sever was just arrogant and did not know. We asked FIVE times for an extra napkin until we got one. They served dishes and refilled glasses of water reaching over us - just not proper service. There service is always TERRIBLE. I do not get why.
Very fresh and good food. We enjoyed the restaurant very much.
Great food, service needs improvement. Had to return coffee 3 times because the soy milk used was rancid.
It was fine. Nice to have a fancier kosher restaurant than what is usually around. No to convenient to get to.
Tavlin is a terrific Israeli restaurant. The hummus is outstanding and all the kebabs will make you think you're eating in Tel Aviv. Add a little schug if you like things harif. I've never had a bad meal here, but the place can be really noisy. I learned way too much about the gap-year program of the daughter of a man sitting one table over.
Really fresh good food with fair prices. Great service !
Great food and smbisnce
