Tea and Tattle
Chives and Cucumber
I heard this place is good to enjoy afternoon tea with small pay. As I heard, it was true, staff was really nice and cream with scone was especially good. Some people said english breakfast tea isn’t that good but to me it was lovely with a little bit of milk. I definitely recommend this place to my friend who visit london.
We had traditional style tea and sweets. Especially the cream cheese sandwich and scone are delicious! It is not as sophisticated as the luxury hotel afternoon tea, but it is very warm and cozy. The interior was unique and interesting. There are few seats and the atmosphere is calm like a hideaway. We had a nice afternoon. Thank you!
Nice ! The best scones in the world
The place was a bit empty around my reservation at 1:30pm. Service was quick and polite. I had the tea for one. Lots of teas to choose from but I recommend a more savory tea as my chamomile tea was too sweet along with the sweet scones (super delicious, my favorite item on the platter), sweet cakes, and sweet lemonade. Sandwiches were an afterthought, but also an afterthought for me so not too serious. My seat was facing an entryway halfway blocked by a wall, and my chair was wobbly, so not the best seat. Make your reservation for a table not facing a wall, you'll thank me. Overall, I think you could have a better tea at home but if you don't have to time and are looking for a reasonably priced place, this spot is great.
This was a lovely afternoon tea. Amazingly priced...gorgeous treats and tea and a quiet and laid-back environment. I recommended it to my friend who lives in London immediately after leaving. :)
I always recommend here to my friends who visit London. Awesome scones and the wonderful time I’m so happy :)
We really appreciated this little tea room. The food was nice and the service was perfect!
The staff and owner of this store is unkindness. Because am I Asian? They didn't even smile and say Thank you. And the tap water is very dirty. There was a foreign object in the water. Please check before drinking water. I will not recommend this store to my friend.
It’s the best clotted cream&jam scone i’ve ever had.
I'm gonna try all the flavors of jam with scone here!
I visited here while I was travelling London, and it was a great choice! The tea was amazing and the server was really nice :) I was greatly satisfied with Tea&Tattle and sincerely recommend others to spend time here!!
Good service, good presentation and good food. We ordered the gift certificate from the website and it worked fine and saved a few quid.
Tea & Tattle is a great little cafe near the British Museum which is deservedly popular for a quick lunchtime sandwich or leisurely afternoon tea.
Tea and Tattle is a great little cafe near the British Museum. They don't have the largest menu but the food (sandwiches, scones, cake etc) are fresh and tasty.
Sweet pastry all very good.
Everything is Great!
All staffs are so kind and friendly,
and Tea, Cake, Scone are very delicious.
Good scones and jams, the atmosphere is quiet and nice as well. Cream tea is quite affordable and enjoyable. Will be returning for scones again!
Really nice place, quiet and good food. Was a little disappointed that I had to wait a week for booking as all the times suggested last week were unavailable. When I got there, there were no other customers, so was able to talk to my family in Australia on FaceTime without disturbing anyone.
Very very goodddddd!!!!

Booked a reservation at Tea and Tattle for high tea after a day of sightseeing in London. Went from British Museum across the street to have some wonderfully relaxing tea, sandwiches, scones, fresh squeezed lemonade and cakes. You select your items from a selection and they served them very nicely. Could have conversations without straining to talk/hear and the downstairs room was very cozy.
This is close to the British Museum and offered a decent afternoon tea. But the restaurant is in the basement of what appears to be a bookstore and has a smell of incense. Kind of quirky.
While in London we decided to book afternoon tea and chose this place based on glowing online reviews and reasonable price. When we arrived the place was almost empty so we had a choice between two equally non ideal small tables - one by the door to the toilets and one by the door to the back serving room. We picked one in the back by the serving room door and I think that was a mistake (stone tile and horrible lighting made this particular area extra loud and non cozy). Entire tea room is really tiny with dingy walls, nearly no natural light, and bad artificial lighting. It is also amazingly loud - there was only one more couple talking at normal volume but it was very distracting, and our server rushing with trays of tea plates back and forth to the back room, filling room with sounds of clunking plates, running dishwasher, etc. etc. It felt more like seating in a kitchen hallway than in a tea room. Food was OK, scones and sandwiches where quite tasty but cakes seemed a bit stale (sponge cake was way too sweet). Also it didn't help that our server made no attempts to make experience special - she coldly took our orders, brought our tea and sandwiches, later brought scones and cakes after quite a bit of a delay during which my tea got colder, never asked if we would like more tea. Needless to say we didn't have any desire to linger and left as soon as we could finish our food. It was definitely not a high tea experience we have been hoping for.
Love this place! The staff were nice and I love the scones.
Very nice and cosy for afternoon tea. Friendly service with a smile. Delicious scones and excellent tea. Crab sandwich was also very nice and large. Good value.
Very nice. We ate Afternoon tea. Specially, Scon was wonderful. And carrot cake and lemon drizzle were also perfect!
Quite nice. Lovely atmosphere. Great jams and pastries. Next time I'm on holiday in London, I'll certainly stop back.
A very nice tea room near a tourist attraction. Peaceful and welcoming with nice staff. Good for get togethers.
They even met a special request with no fuss.
This was my 2nd visit to London & my 2nd time here. The tea service was wonderful & reasonably priced, which was why I returned.
this is a great tea house in central London. I love coming here whenever I'm visiting London.
It was great....we liked it
Would go again
Atmospheric little tea room across the street from the British Museum. Read about this place in British Heritage magazine and it lived up to the description. Tea and cakes were wonderful. The sandwiches and scones were on the smallish side, but tasty. A great place to regroup and refresh after a day in the museum.
A lovely, lovely spot for afternoon tea, very British [well, in our impression]. We tried the traditional tea for two with scones (amazing!!!), sandwiches (great!!!) and cake (decent). Do make a reservation to get in!
My absolute favourite spot for afternoon tea in London. I believe this place is family run - the woman and man I always see working there are friendly and provide great service. The food is fresh and delicious.
Tea and Tattle is small tea room in the basement of a building, very quaint which lends to the atmosphere. Upon arrival we were greeted and immediately sat our table, which had a reserve sign on it, which indicated they were ready for us, excellent! We opted for the afternoon tea service, which include a traditional tea sandwhich (wide variety of choices), a scone, dessert, and choice of tea or other beverage. Everything was very good and service was prompted. Keep in mind this is a local tea room, so was a less formal tea service. Tea and Tattle is a wonderful place to stop for nice casual tea and light food, and a great location by the British Museum. We would indeed return for another visit.
The tea for two was fantastic. Able to try two different sandwiches, 2 scones and 2 cakes. Of course the Tea as well. Chicken /cucumber/lemon mayo was by far the best. The hummus and red pepper sandwich was also very tasty. We tried the plum jam and the raspberry jam which were both great. And for the cakes, a lemon drizzle cake and a coffee walnut cake which were both fantastic.
The whole experience of walking into a bookstore on a street, and having to go downstairs and it being this quaint little cafe for tea and sandwiches. Too adorable to sat the least. Great food, great service and the ambience helped the whole English tea feeling.
Completely recommend this place for it is a hidden treasure in my opinion.
Family of four stopped on way to British museum. Traditional Tea was available early as well as breakfast, brunch and lunch options. Excellent for a family of mixed foodies and picky teens with jet lagged stomachs!
The scones with raspberry vanilla jam were delicious! I really enjoyed the peppermint tea. A nice end to our trip to London!
A quiet informal atmosphere for a nice afternoon tea.
Good choice of tea with excellent scones!
Met up with an international work colleague here. It was very quiet and perfect for our needs. Loved the book shop upstairs too. Good coffee. Felt I was in someone's home. Didn't explore the menu too much. But will definately return .
I had read good reviews and wanted to find somewhere cheaper than a lot of the London hotels. I wasn't disappointed - but it wasn't quite as good as I thought it would be. I don't understand why the afternoon tea (£15.00) is more expensive (even with the most expensive sandwich on the menu) than buying the same items separately - surely it should be cheaper - other than that it comes with home-made lemonade. Sandwiches were okay, but a little dull. The scones (and tasty, different jams) were lovely - but pretty small. The cakes were nice but I felt it was lacking something extra. The service was very good. However, tea came already brewed, with no teabag or tea. Later, we asked for more and the waitress said she's have to ask if more was being made! A bit odd. Anyway, we did get another pot (one out of the group of three did) but it seemed strange when we went for afternoon tea to be told it depended on whether more was being made. I think we should have been offered more anyway - and some extra sandwiches would have been nice, too.
It was very quiet - a little bit of music would have been welcomed - but the staff were friendly and the location is great, as is the bookshop upstairs. Certainly a good find in Central London but I felt it could have been slightly more special. Still, our American friend really enjoyed it, especially the fresh scones, so that counts for a lot!
