The new partitions in place for Covid make the dining experience more cozy and intimate. We’ll done!

This was a perfect spot for a quiet dinner with a friend. Food and portions were good, service was attentive but not intrusive, and it was a good value.

Love this restaurant! The tables are incredibly covid -safe, with partitions which allows more private dining. The food is always delicious with an extensive menu, changing weekly. The wait staff couldn’t be more attentive. With its parking lot, you never have to worry about driving around hunting for a spot. Can’t recommend this enough.

Always, mostly, have the fish. Had Corvina for the first time and it was excellent... as I expected. My spouse had trout with the same excellent results. This is our go to restaurant for excellent food and quiet atmosphere.

Our party of six went for the Tuesday/Wednesday 3-course dinner special on Tuesday evening. Very good value and good food quality. Love their salad, fried cheese, tiramisu, and blueberry tart. Been there twice already. Have recommended the restaurant to some friends. Give it a try!

Second dinner in two weeks - pre-concert dinner in both cases. A little less quiet due to a large party in the next room but totally acceptable. Food and service were excellent as usual.

A wonderful family restaurant with excellent food. The new COVID-friendly partitions between tables make dining even more intimate, so I don't mind them at all. The staff and owners did a great job of making sure that everyone in our party was happy with their meal. Awesome!

Caesar salad was tasteless with no hint of garlic, cheese, or lemon. My veal was tough and too salty. The vegetables were excellent. Service was attentive and friendly. But the half walls placed between tables for social distancing made a charming restaurant very noisy due to voices bouncing off walls only inches from our heads. I could understand and respect but sometimes I couldn’t understand the other person at our two top table speak due to noise.

My friend’s pasta with lobster was not very good. For spending $50 per person one expects the meal to be very good.

Tempo has always been terrific. It just isnt up to its normal standard. I hope it was just one bad night. But anyone planning a dinner out should consider noise issue if a party larger than two people.

They have great outdoor dining option and easy parking.

Had the mussels marinara and the founder. Both were excellent... tender and flavorful. They know how to cook their fish and that's why I almost always get it. Nice wine selection too.

My wife and I enjoyed a fine meal at Tempo that lived up to the favorable reviews on opentable. The mix of French and Italian cuisine presented some diverse dinner choices that was well worth the 15-minute drive from Old Town Alexandria.

Tempo never disappoints, even during the Pandemic. They have taken extra measures to ensure safety, including adding partitions between some tables. Service is good. The menu is varied so something for everyone and the food is delicious. And best of all, a quiet atmosphere where you can enjoy conversations with your friends/family. Good parking.

Everything was amazing! We’ve been really sad since our favorite Italian restaurant closed earlier this year and we’ve dined at some pretty disappointing Italian places around Alexandria, but this place did not disappoint! We took advantage of the dinner for 2 menu that they offer on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Everything was full of flavor, the wine was good, the bread was warm, and the desserts all sounded amazing! The dining room was full of customers [at socially distanced tables] and it reminded me of going out to country clubs with my grandmother (all good memories.) The clientele is mature and and everyone was well dressed and appeared to be enjoying themselves which is always a nice environment to be a part of. It’s a very nice romantic date spot and we intend to dine again soon.

It's always a pleasure to eat at Tempo. It doesn't look like much from the street, but it is truly a neighborhood gem. This was our "break out of covid isolation" dinner and it was worth the wait! The food is delicious and we were well cared for with all of the precautions. Can't wait to go back many times !

Started with the oysters and mussels and moved on to the fish and closed with chocolate mousse. The food was excellent. The service was excellent. We arrived at 5:30 to find the place empty. It soon filled up. Everyone was appropriately spaced from each other.

Their sign on the road declares “Innovative French and Italian”

Red Flag #1: the menu has more options than seems possible to successfully execute.

Red Flag #2: the Specials Menu, which was printed and dated, had at least 15 MORE items listed.

Red Flag #3: the wine list is a 3 ring binder with nonspecific, whimsical descriptions of each wine while providing no vintage information.

With only 2 other tables in the restaurant the service was eager and friendly. The ball quickly dropped when I asked about 3 wines (a Barolo, a St Emilion Grand Cru and a Du Pape) all $58 - which is more or less retail - not restaurant - pricing. The waiter, after 10 minutes, did eventually return..with a bottle of generic Bordeaux and a Cote du Rhone. A 2015 Chianti Classico was eventually opened and enjoyed.

The bread - which was more “Dinner Rolls” from a random grocery store - was stale and inedible.

Everything was more sauce (which I suspect is canned and/or frozen, and or Sysco) than actual protein - the Veal was about 1mm thick sitting in 5cm of sauce.

Cognac was served in a hot, fresh from the dishwasher, glass.

At 8:30 the entire crew was sitting 3 tables away with heads on arms and looking annoyed at us.
T
he men’s bathroom is right next to the office, which had its door wide open a and person sitting just inside. The distance from the toilet to the person sitting was less than 15’. Whomever was in that office could had been hospitable and closed the office door. Awkward.

As was the entire experience.
