Terrace on Piccadilly was a delight to eat at! Good portioned food at decent prices for London (especially the West End!). All staff were extremely lovely and helpful and professional. Happened to mention when I booked the reservation that it was my girlfriend's birthday, and they gave a little extra starter (mushroom & cheese bite-thingy) AND a little dessert plate with 3 little types of desserts with 'Happy Birthday!' written on the plate in a chocolate sauce, both of these ON THE HOUSE (free of charge)! Will definitely be going here again, regardless of birthdays or not!
So who is it who is giving this review ?
I don’t usually write reviews, but I was compelled to do so after my visit here.
I work in London, eat regularly within it. My regular places I eat are J Sheekeys
and The Beaumont Hotel.
Service at Terrace, was unconfident and s l o w. Food is poor.
The Terrace would maybe be good for a coffee or drinks and nibbles.
But please don’t both eating here. Sorry.
Post Xmas theatre dinner, very early evening, so restaurant quite quiet. Apart from them having lost the booking (thanks, open table!), everything was lovely. Great glass atrium, good seats, festive decor. Accommodating service, pretty dinners, good location. Super touristy but good people watching.
The food is really good and the service is good. Me and my friend were enjoy it very much.
Great food and excellent service. We got a tabel on a Saturday night without a problem.
Very disappointed. Limited menu. No ambience. Steaks were OK but no offer of side dishes. 15% Service expected. Poor.
When we arrived they told us the terrace restaurant was closed for refurb work . We were shown to a large room with no windows. It was like being at someone else's wedding?? There were hardly anyone there . They offered processco as a way of apologies this never appeared. They took ages to take our order and the staff didn't seem to understand our requests. They did however take money off our bill at the end after we complained . I won't return.
My boyfriend (now fiancè) took me out for a lovely meal here before popping the big question later that night.
There is no area of our dining experience that we could fault, it was simply amazing.
We were both very impressed especially when we received free dessert as it was our anniversary.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a classy restaurant.
Perfect combination! Minimalism and good taste!
We were looking forward to dining here as the photos of the restaurant looked lovely. Initial impressions were good. The restaurant looked lovely and the staff were very helpful. Unfortunately I cannot say the food was value for money. Especially when we paid £6.00 for a fresh mint tea!! I am happy to pay for quality food but we both felt the meal was very over priced. I don't think I could recommend this to others.
amazing! nice atmosphere!
Nice food at a nice place
Such great hospitality! They have amazing welcoming staff, absolutely delicious food.We shared our meals in order to have a taste of everything. The seafood platter, both the starter and main were perfect. Really plentiful and cooked to perfection. We also had the liver pâte and deconstructioned beef Wellington, again absolute perfection. I will definitely be going again.
Wasn't made obvious at time of booking that £54 set menu per person. Was not told till we sat down with my mum and aunt. I had said I was taking them fir lunch and obviously not going to up sticks. The cost embarrassed them. Need to ensure set menus obvious at time of booking. Would go again though
On telling the restaurant receptionist that I was to be joined by an elderly lady who had not been to The Terrace before she arranged for her to be greeted at the hotel entrance and accompanied to the table. The food was very good and the service was top class. A memorable meal.
So terribly disappointed. Wonderful starters were followed by an interminable wait for a depressingly awful main. Bland, almost cold and partly burnt. I have never been so deeply disenchanted by a dining experience. Need I say more? Never eat here!!
We had an early evening meal following a matinee performance at the theatre, this was a special occasion, my mum's birthday. We all had starters, no one had room for pudding.... The waiter was perhaps not the slickest in context of the price, however this did not detract from the meal, indeed the waiters friendliness, made for a more relaxed atmosphere. Two had the soup for starters, mushroom on the day, both reported very flavoursome; I had the mixed seafood board, this was exquisite, the final starter the onion tart, the presentation of this a good surprise.
Onto the mains, steaks for 2, I think the chef must be French, medium the request, however served as medium rare, quite the most delicious steak with a side of fries, not a problem for us, but possibly would be for some, one had fish, very generous in size, my dad had the mixed grill, he declared it one of the best he has had in a long time, he is no stranger to a mixed grill, this is therefore praise indeed..... We will come again, however only for special occasions, it is a little expensive for us to make it a routine!
Food was excellent but service really bad -nothing was brought to the table without asking several times (we had to ask for a water three times and wine cooler twice). Food was indeed excellent and even though service was slow, the food was worth of waiting for. Quite expensive evening though and you would expect everything to be perfect when you pay £200 for an evening.
We dined here last October and had a fantastic time so re-booked for Valentines Day - very disappointed with the overall experience this time around. I chose the Menu Deal and the food was good however my partner selected the A la Carte menu and was disappointed.
Unfortunately we won't be back again..
Very much enjoyed the night! Great service lovly food and a great surrounding. Only flaw in the place is the price of a drink. Apart from that I would return
I booked because I thought it would have a good view of Picadilly - it's a view of the store opposite! I thought the menu was standard and the prices too high. We didn't eat there and walked out to find somewhere else. As a Londoner I don't believe in paying inflated prices - it would have to be worth it.
My starter was mediocre at best, I ordered the chard and walnut salad which was saturated in blue cheese dressing and so over powered I could only manage half. My partner had the chilli squid, which came in an incredibly thick batter for chilli squid, the sort you would expect on a chicken nugget!
When it came to the mains I had the fish casserole which was average, but my partner ordered the lamb, with mint sauce. However the mint sauce never came out. We had to ask twice, and when it finally arrived it was hollandaise, not mint. After complaining it finally came out just in time for my partner to enjoy his final lamb cutlet with it - not the service, nor standard of food I expect with the price tag of the restaurant.
Lovely restaurant. First time visiting (didn't know it was there, yet have worked nearby for three years!). It was a beautiful day and I thought we'd be sat outside (only reason I booked it, as it comes up in the Al Fresco dining search). Sadly they don't do meals outside, only drinks/nibbles.
However, we stayed, and sat in the gloriously spacious conservatory-esque restaurant (reminded me of Kew Gardens greenhouses but modern).
Service was ok. Food was a treat. I had the vegetarian Wellington, which was a total delight - I enjoyed it so much I followed with the apple crumble.
Wine selection was good, as were the non-alcoholic cocktails (working lunch, pfft).
Worth a visit!
We went before seeing Thriller Live so we ate early - 5.30pm. only one other group of diners bu it didn't matter as there were other guests in the lounge area an bar. Food was excellent. I am veggie and was very impressed with the vegetarian burger. Staff were very attentive and service was excellet. Couldn't fault it.
Nice venue. Hidden away from the street below. Food tasty. Would be pricey without the special offer. Dealt with food allergies quite well.
Poor, inattentive service – staff looked really fed up about being there, and needed calling over every time. The Sunday brunch buffet for £49 was very poor – very little selection, unimaginative options and bland, tasteless food. The unlimited Prosecco was the best thing about it, although for £19 each, you might as well go somewhere and knock yourself out with a bottle apiece. By the time we got to desert at 1430 there were only a few messy, sorry-for-themselves options leftover on a very messy table. Overall, very poor, the all you can eat buffet at Pizza Hut would have been a preferable option. Shame, as it is a great venue, and we enjoyed it last time we ate there.
I use this quite often as a location to have morning meetings. Both food and service are excellent.
We had a pre theatre meal, and were very short of time due to the tube strike. The staff were very accomodating and brought the food quickly. It was of excellent quality, and we made the show in time. Recommended - especially for the beef!
The view from the terrace was great, and the dinning area nice and clean. There was not many people dinning, and the service was very slow. the menu was nice but confusing as it only mentioned the price in numbers. i.e 28. It was like having a number on a Chinese menu. The food was nice and we had plenty. Bit pricey. Enjoyed it, but would not go back again.
Poor service, my partners's steak was cold and very fatty. My seafood dish was over charred and tasted very bitter!
Service was very attentive initially but when we asked for 5mins to consider our drinks order we were given at least 15!
Overall, disappointed with the experience as we had been there 3 yrs ago and really enjoyed it
We have been dining in this restaurant several times and this experience is worth it. The food is delicious, services are excellent and location is perfect for London night life.
My meal was what I expected it to be for Tiger Tiger. Really good, but nothing special. Service started well, but as soon as the restaurant got busy my friend and I seem to have been forgotten.
Great location, beautiful architecture, could do with a little more atmosphere
We opted for the set menu: £25 without wine, £29 with wine. The food was of a good standard - we all started with the crayfish cocktail followed by various mains.I had the duo of fish (fish was beautifully cooked but the dish could have benefitted from more vegetables); one of my friends had the beef (the meat was also beautifully cooked and there were ample vegetables) and anoher had the risotto, the vegetarian option (which was good). We were all pleased with the food - puddings were good too. I recommend the gin bar - fantastic range. The only disappointment of the evening was that we also ordered wine and made the mistake of assuming that these fell into the set menu price! No they didn't! Ouch! Expensive error....
This is a great place to sit & relax. The food was very good & the waitor was friendly. The only criticism would be that the coffee was very expensive, (over £4); this would be OK if we had been offered a top up but we weren't! Overall, I would definitely recommend it.
Beautiful presentation and excellent in flavour!
had friend from abroad in town, and here was the perfect place to catchup while having dinner. Ambiance, quiet and relaxing, friendly staff, delicious meal. i'll be back soon
Having anticipated going here for my 30th with 12 friends, it came as much of a dissapointment. The waiter who served us (one waiter to 13 people) was unable to understand the most basic request of a drinks order and still managed to forget several peoples drinks and get the drinks order incorrect - no ice is a simple instruction! Admitidly we were in a rush but the kitchen which took over an hour to produce steak and chips (though the steak was good) for 13 people was unacceptable. The mains arrived still served by one waiter over a period of 10 minutes followed by 15 minutes of sides (though they caught up and added an additional waiter for the sides), with some of the sides being forgotten or not taken correctly my said same waiter. Poor
£4,50 a small coke?staff was super fantastic and olso you charge vegetable with maincours and bernese souse? In many hight class restaurant in knightbridge and mayfaire you dont pay £4,50 a small coke i will never be bak again staff was fantastic food was ok but not for a restaurant in 4 star hotel
First time here and I was really pleased as it was for a group dinner for a friend from overseas. Lovely venue. Not too posh / hard an environment but comfortable with very pleasant staff. Food was very tasty and good portions too. Great central location but it's somewhere you'd want to be able to relax and take your time. Not a venue for a quick eat.
