Thai Square Trafalgar Square
Looking out over one of London’s most famous landmarks, the flagship branch of Thai Square is a great choice for lunch or dinner near Trafalgar Square. Formerly the impressive Norwegian embassy, Thai Square is a seriously spacious venue full of traditional artefacts, heavy wooden doors and sprays of exotic flowers – perfect for laid-back lunches with friends and cosy romantic dinners. And when tourists invariably tumble in by chance, they are rewarded, as you will be, with excellent Thai cuisine. Thai Square’s authentic menu is full of familiar favourites like fiery tom yum soup, fragrant green chicken curry and chargrilled duck breast with tamarind sauce. Vegetarians are spoilt for choice with delicious dishes like aubergine and shiitake mushrooms stir-fried with sweet basil and garlic. At the weekend, the club downstairs is open until 3am – perfect for diners who want to dance the night away in style.
Have been to this restaurant many times in the past and it has certainly not fared well. I believe it is now part of a chain? Very slow service, we had to get up to ask for things. Food poor! The papaya salad used to be the best I’ve had, but this one was tasteless, and lacking in some of the ingredients. My duck was tough as leather, and the sauce unidentifiable. Shame!
Abysmal. Was there for 1 hour 25 minutes and received no food. Had a show booked so had to leave, was charged for the bottle of wine we had and told they had knocked the service charge off for our troubles. The service charge was discretionary we was not going to pay it anyway! Disgrace
A great reliable choice for a good Thai meal out in Central London
Great location, great atmosphere, food lovely, staff friendly
Starters were delicious
Main was okay, the vegetable dish a little on the salty side.
The waiters came to tell us (in not so many words) to hurry up so we felt rushed at times which spoilt it and why I’ve given 2 stars for service.
Quite overpriced average food, but okay and quite expected considering the super touristy location. It did the job as we needed a pre theatre meal and service was quick.
Unfortunately only 3 serving staff on the night so very poor service. We had long waits and forgotten orders :(
Highly recommend less table covers when staff numbers are low AND better communication about possibly delays.
Great food but worst restaurant service i have ever experienced.
It was a shame that there was only 2 staff on when the restaurant was so busy. There was no one to greet on arrival. The food was not hot and the toilets were a lot to be desired.
Such a shame.
I love this restaurant. It is the best Thai restaurant in London. Even though it is a chain, this is the best branch. I often held my birthday dinner here over the years. The menu is wonderful and the staff are lovely. They have long opening hours and a club downstairs.
Repeat visit for me, this time brought my wife. The staff was very good but not enough to handle this full, popular restaurant. So we had to wait a bit longer than perhaps we should have. The food was excellent, as I remembered, if a bit pricey- but it is London. Decor was very cool and appropriate.
Food Tasted really nice put plates were cold and food came out of the kitchen lukewarm
Food was so lovely and reasonably priced.
Great food as usual, probably best chicken satay I’ve ever had. Service was relatively good and it’s such a beautiful venue. However the private party upstairs got louder and louder, and it was impossible to hear my friend. Just glad I wasn’t out Ona romantic date.
Was excited to eat here based on good reviews. Unfortunately, service was curt. Had to ask for drink 3 times before it arrived. Was seated directly under cold air conditioning vent. When asked to move, they said it wasn't possible but could turn down air conditioning which was never done. Did not live up to the reviews I read and unlikely to return.
Food was nice, we got in when they opened and there was a few people. Food came out EXTREMELY quick so not sure about how it’s made but food was hot. Servers was nice but was rushing and pacing around and taking peoples plates immediately after they finished so was rushing people. Other than that it was nice.
The staff were very accommodating, they showed 1:1 care, and very polite. Had been celebrating my birthday, and I left there being very satisfied
The restaurant did not ask my booking and my name even if I told them I made a booking from open table. Then I received an email for no show!
Great service , even when under staffed
Fantastic food along with excellent service. I’ve eaten here a couple of times and it is always outstanding.
We were in town for a show to celebrate my husband’s birthday.
We chose the venue for the location and a previous positive experience.
The food was great and full of flavour. The restaurant was busy and therefore slightly delayed. It also felt like there were one too many tables in the restaurant meaning that you felt like you were sitting on top of the table next door.
Been here a few times and it never disappoints. Service excellent food delicious.
We had good time , nice food and friendly service
A la carte order.
Starters were good, slight lack of seasoning on the corn fritters and the butterfly prawns
Steamed Seabass was excellent perfectly cooked.
Prawn red curry was very good, would have loved a little more Thai basil to balance the flavour overall.
Loved the coconut ice cream!!’
I had a really great experience here! The staff were so lovely and patient with me as my friend showed up late! Amazing food and it came out on time! Highly recommend and also another thing..looks beautiful inside x
We liked the ambience of the restaurant, the food was delicious and the service was very good.
Lovely place, good service and good food. Good place.
Customer service was fantastic. The food wasn't that great. Not sure what's happened as I've been to this restaurant on other occasions and the food was amazing.
Food was awful…. Local Chinese is better!! Also why do they have a sign saying they won the best Thai for 2021 and restaurants have only been open a month this year??? Confused much
35th wedding anniversary and Father’s Day
The staff were very polite and friendly the atmosphere was very relaxed food could’ve been better the mix seafood soup was not that great pad Thai was ok
An excellent choice for a pre-show meal. The service was quick and friendly and the food was outstanding
I had drunken noodles but the beef was very hard . the curry duck was great !
Classic Thai dishes fresh and tasty. Nice South African Sauvignon Blanc.
We have been to this restaurant a few times and it never lets us down.
During this strange time the place had ample room between tables, menus on the phones so no handling paper and lots of hand sanitizer available.
Would thoroughly recommend a visit to eat this delightful food.
A nice evening out. Service was a little slow at times, but food very good.
Had a really good meal here. Food was very good and it was immaculately clean and lots of space to enjoy your meal. Very attentive service to boot.
Everything was perfect. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all and we have a lot space between the other tables. This was for the safety but it’s also bring more privacy.
Very good service and food in a nice setting
I would certainly recommend it for excellent and affordable Thai food in the heart of London
