Located on the Old Brompton Road in South Kensington, Thali serves up authentic dishes from throughout India, many with an appealing modern twist. The grazing style restaurant focuses mainly on North Indian cuisine but also showcases curries and tandoori specials. The menus are based on family recipes, handed down through generations, and enhanced by head chef Dila Ram. We love the sound of tandoori wild boar, for example, or snow crab patties with mint, coriander and spices. The thali offers a selection of dishes, as does the tasting menu – both provide a good introduction. The décor, an interesting mix of cosmopolitan London meets the mystery of the East, ensures Thali attracts a vibrant mix of local foodies and fashionistas. Diners looking for a casual bite are welcomed upstairs to the candlelit restaurant, while the ground floor is reserved for private dining. Check out the extensive wine list, but don’t leave without sampling Thali’s award-winning cocktails!

Thali Ratings and Reviews
Our hotel recommended Thali to us as they had been themselves. It was worth every single bite. Our reservation was initially for 8pm but we arrived earlier and they were very accommodating. I went with the server's food recommendation and was not disappointed. Loved my dish and loved my husband's too ! :)
Service was great, the location was convenient off the tube stop.
Overall, simply loved our choice!
I've been here many times as it is so close to me. My family and I usually take our guests here when we go out. The food is amazing and the service is even better. It is not just your typical indian restaurant but they take every aspect and make sure to perfect it and we are always very pleased when we dine there!
Outstanding food and service- this indian restaurant has an amazing menu. This was our second visit to thali and we had the traditional indian (veg) thali. It comes with an amazing array of decent sized portions of food comprising a combination of breads, curries, rice and a dessert portion. Highly recommended.
We were in London for a few nights and were keen for some authentic Indian food. Thali came up after a few searches and the menu and location were great. We were able to book online which is a great and convenient service - especially while travelling - and went to the restaurant. Dinner and drinks were fabulous. Some of the best Indian we have ever had. Our server was attentive and helpful with the menu and answered all of our questions. It was a great night and we were stuffed. We wished we could have taken our leftovers back to the hotel to enjoy them the next day, the food was that good. Price was reasonable too.
Excellent Indian food in the Kensington neighborhood. The quality of the food was spectacular with equally impressive service. The staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent suggestions for my wife and I. Very pleased with our choice to dine there and would definitely recommend it to those wanting authentic Indian food.
It was one of the best dining experiences of recent times. The food was so balanced (like home-cooked meals), we had their veg Thali which is quite adequate for one person. It redefines classical indian food without overdoing with any of the ingredients. If you have eaten Indian elsewhere I would recommend that you try this. Service was outstanding. Very relaxing environment. Highly recommended.
Organising a last minute table for 12 on Saturday night in London can be a challenge. However it all went smoothly with Thali. A beautiful table was organised for us on the day. The very diligent staff gave us some pretty good suggestions and what we ate was amazing. Those spicy crunchy lamb chops were unbelievable! Overall food is good value. I liked the decor very much - smart, stylish, youthful and clean cut. I will certainly go back.
We hadn't been to Thali for over a year but pleased to find it was as good as we remembered. The menu has some new things on it keeping it fresh and appealing but the great things on the old menu are thankfully still there. The lamb cutlets are mouth-wateringly tender and spicy, the spinach chat delicious - when has spinach ever tasted this good. Every spoonful of the biryani was a mouthful of flavour and seabass was also very tasty. We tried an unusual beetroot dessert and had a lovely bottle of wine from a good selection. Enjoyed the meal immensely and the service was excellent as always. The kind of food you fantasise about afterwards - looking forward to going back!
Thali is by far the best Indian restaurant in South Ken. Forget Star of Indian, or Bombay Brasserie. They are so overpriced. Thali offers authentic, amazingly spiced and balanced North Indian food in a pleasant atmosphere and amazing service. Chili paneer, lamb buna, fish curry, daal makhni, and spinach chaat are to die for. There are three other Indian restaurants within the block from Thali but they are not even close to the consistency, quality and value for money Thali offers.
Thali is by far the best Indian restaurant in South Ken. It serves fresh, delicious and surprisingly light food, the service is knowledgeable and personable, the owner is always there serving with advice and help. It is a must go. We have taken several groups of friends there and they have all loved it.
Thali has ended my search for a good North Indian restaurant. The food is so well cooked you can eat and enjoy almost anything on the menu. The starters in particular are delicious. Great place for a party or a romantic meal and service is always good with staff friendly and willing to help you choose dishes which can be adjusted according to taste. Good wine list and interesting menu. Not your typical Indian menu or restaurant. Looking forward to my next meal there.
Thali never fails to impress! Vik and his staff receive you with a very warm welcome….they are very attentive and professional. The pre-dinner cocktails are moreish and the wine list is varied. The food….is just simply delicious. They have created a perfect balance of taste and texture in their modern but traditional dishes. Compliments to the Chef! I would like to see Vik sit back and quietly rejoice in this little gemstone….this restaurant is in a class of its own. Highly recommended.
