very quiet for Thursday evening - the food was excellent perfect portions, beautifully presented and very tasty quality plate.
As good (if not better) as some Michelin start restaurants locally
It was our first proper meal out since the start of Covid and what a way to celebrate. Everything from start to finish was first class: from the initial welcome from the helpful staff, to the amazing food (I had the Dingly Dell pork and my wife had the sea trout), and the overall service. I couldn’t fault it. We sat outside in comfort and although there was a little noise from the main road it was no way intrusive. Highly recommended!
We were thoroughly well looked after.
The food and service were excellent. We had a window seat, so had good ventilation and fresh air. Felt and was more COVID secure. Thank you. Will come again soon.
This was a really lovely meal. The staff are really welcoming and the atmosphere is lovely - we had our 3 children (10,8,5) and had an early evening meal. The food was brilliant and we especially enjoyed the terrine and it was a tough call between the lamb and the pork which were both really good, well balanced and delicious. Will definitely come back and would highly recommend.
Beautiful food with excellent service. Very accommodating of my allergies.
This quality gastro pub is a real gem. We thoroughly recommend going there. My husband and I have been here on a few occasions with friends and this place has never disappointed. The food is of very high quality, the service is excellent and the atmosphere is just right.
We loved the bar, the staff were friendly, professional and service was second to none but we didn’t rate the food. We’ve never had a Smokey Joe’s before but we wouldn’t try one again… we were disappointed the brisket was slices of tough beef opposed to slow cooked shredded meat. I know staff were really excited about the bank holiday offering but we would have been much happier with the regular menu.
The food arrived cold. Warmed slightly in the microwave but still not hot. Opening hours advertised they were open till 10pm, however we were asked to leave at 8pm because they were closing. Disappointing especially having spent £10 each way in a taxi
Great Sunday roasts - in particular the beef - with good and friendly service. Even with the triple roast, you didn’t feel that any one particular meat was short changed.
That being said, the portion of vegetables which are served with the roasts were a bit on the small side. Feels like one of the places where you get the same amount of vegetables if you order 1 roast dinner or 3, but that’s purely my speculation. I’d suggest ordering additional sides if you’re the hungry kind.
Amazing food well served great lunch
Sunday lunch was very enjoyable, our waitress recommended an Italian wine when I asked for a glass of Chardonnay, I was not disappointed. Lovely atmosphere really relaxed. We shared the crab tart to start, delicious with a short crust. Our main course was the chicken to share, beautiful juicy chicken nice accompaniments, potatoes were quite crispy but we were quite late to service. My only complaint would be the coffee, our double espresso was watery and bitter, maybe just bad coffee or the machine needed cleaning I only mention this as it’s the lasting impression of a meal, all in all really good, will be back to sample the A La Carte soon
We had the most excellent service .. being greeted by a charming manager followed by the warm and friendly staff. Our food was excellent, delicious & beautifully presented. We highly recommend.. can’t wait to go back!
We were very impressed by our visit for Sunday lunch and will certainly come again
We had a very pleasant evening. Good food and excellent service. Pleased to see a local venue supporting local vineyards on their wine list. Left feeling that we were looking forward to coming back.
Lovely meal and service. Hadn't been for a while even before covid lockdown, but will be back.
Excellent food. Friendly and attentive service. What more can you ask for. First class.
The staff were excellent, service good, surroundings lovely, the food was lovely and cooked well but unfortunately for us the portions so tiny came home feeling very hungry. Was recommended by a friend to try the restaurant and should have looked at the menu before hand! A lot of money for very little food! Wouldn’t go again unless we’d already eaten!
Excellent late Sunday lunch - relaxed atmosphere, staff attentive but not overbearing.
Super starter, Main meal good - roast potatoes a bit disappointing and would have preferred the cauliflower cheese to be a bit softer and cheesier!
Overall though a great meal.
Hi - we had a lovely meal for 4 adults for Sunday roast however my only complaint is the lack of vegetables/potatoes they provide with the meals. For a table of four, one small bowl of vegetables is just not enough so we had to order more.
Compliments to the chef and kitchen, food was perfect
Service was excellent, thank you.
Excellent roast beef lunch - thoroughly enjoyed. Staff as attends always. We’ll be back!
Went with friends to the Abergavenny Arms in Frant, for Sunday Lunch. This was our first visit and we all agreed the food was very good and the staff engaging and attentive. We would certainly go back to sample more of the menu and would certainly recommend it to our friends.
We look forward to next time.
Cute little country pub dating back to 1450 (!!) which had the character and charm you’d hope. Great food - we both had a fabulous halibut main which felt more like a Michelin star restaurant than gastropub. Friendly staff - all in all exemplary. I would definitely come again if we were to pass through.
Lovely food and faultless service. Highly recommend this lovely pub
Amazing food. Brilliant service. Would highly recommend
Really good food excellent welcome staff couldn’t do enough to help will certainly be back
Really good meal from start to finish. Trout was fantastic and the rhubarb tart just right to finish. The best however was the Cullen skink which I loved will be back here and recommend it to all
An all round amazing dining experience. Kat and his team are professional, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food was well presented and delicious. Thanks guys
We ate in the newly created shelter which was fine - a bit like being in a shed/garden centre. It did not matter - at least we were out and the staff were charming and friendly. The food was excellent. Some people were in smart zip up pods but we did not mind - it was great to be out.
Good, friendly service; delicious food (had 4 starters between 2 of us). Only downside was the temperature but that’s not the pub’s fault! Will definitely return soon.
We weren't sure what to expect as it was our first eating outside 'Date' since lockdown, whichever this one, is eased.
The staff were lovely & helpful, the food delightful and the setting/dining area was light warm and relaxing with comfy cushions & woolly blankets should the weather have turned.
Thoroughly Enjoyed - THANK YOU
Outside seating. Food served on cold plaes, so not as hot as it needed to be.
Nice food coped well with covid restrictions, excellent staff, will be back
Food was gorgeous (sunday roasts) service great. Would love to come back to try the pods asap!
The staff cannot do enough for you, really fantastic service.
Great service, great food. Definitely recommend. 👍🏼
Great Sunday lunch! Perfect for vegetarians! Will be back soon!
