Currently we do not take reservations with a view of the screen for sport and during big games we do not take reservations at all.
Very slow service and food lukewarm.. even after heating up food it took a while to receive it back. Roast was fine, dessert would be the highlight. Not sure I would go back though.. A few customers around us were left with empty plates for half an hour until they went to pay at the bar as there was no staff around
The staff were great but there weren’t enough of them.
The food was really nice and enjoyed watching the football whilst easting. My partner who had the vegan roast wasn't too keen on the wellington though as it tasted quite spicy (almost like a samosa taste) Potatoes could if benefited from longer in the oven to crisp up also. But yes we would return
A bit stuck between pub and restaurant, started off by taking drinks orders at the table but then took ages to take food orders so had to ask and didn’t know if we should have ordered at the bar. Average roast with very watery gravy. Ordered vegan Wellington which tasted ok but was actually a pasty
We had a roast, the apple sauce was missing, the potatoes were hard and most of the plate was taken up by heaps of kale! Unusual Sunday roast accompanyment. The Actress is a lovely pub for drinks.
The staff are very accommodating as always. I made my booking a couple hours before and they were able to seat me in front of the screen for Wimbledon men’s final. Prawn pizza and sweet potato fries were perfect. Thank you!
Went for a family Sunday lunch. The staff were really welcoming and the service was great. The menu was really varied - good choice for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. They are very welcoming to families so there was a bit of noise from young children but it was all fine. Lovely roomy and airy pub with a good seating area outside too. Thoroughly recommend.
Food was cold and pasta was dry. Good friendly mostly helpful service but wouldn’t eat there again
Great neighborhood family meal spot, definitely high on the recommended list. Book in advance, especially on game nights.
Staff friendly and efficient
Pizzas good - thin tasty base - could have had a bit more topping but still tasty
Downside was Tuesday lunchtime was a crèche- we were the only 2 customers without babies and toddlers so perfect venue for those with preschoolers then !!
Lots of chaotic kids running around! Wanted something more fun. Food was delish but we were in and out within an hour. Didn't want to be surrounded by screaming ten year olds even if it is NYE!
They didn’t honour the booking.
It was busy and after buying a drink and standing I asked the manager when we could be seated. She responded saying that it was too busy and couldn’t offer us a table. When I asked why this was the case, she said it was because she couldn’t move anyone on.
I found this to be ridiculous and pretty weak of her. I am often told when I book somewhere that the table is for a set period of time as they have to accommodate other diners. I find it strange that they are unable to enforce the same.
I would not book here again, ever. You should take it off of your roster of restaurants.
Lovely Boxing Day lunch... only slight hitch was being given the wrong menus and the whole table being in anticipation of profiteroles only to be disappointed they they were no longer available.
The veggie roast used to be amazing but it's been changed to a vegan roast which comes with a calzone thing, which isn't very good. The rest of the veg was amazing. Would be better if there was a vegan and veggie options.
Our waiter was so lovely and helpful, couldn’t do enough for us. The place had a really nice cosy atmosphere and we felt very welcomed and comfortable. Also the Sunday roast was amazing - just what we were after! Will definitely be back.
Just an all-round great pub, highly recommend for any occasion.
Good as always and very accommodating of our requirements. The food is good quality and tasty.
The ladies serving are always very friendly, atmosphere is welcoming and love vegetarian roast!
We loved the actress, looked after well, we had a toddler and s 5 yr old with us too and we were made to feel very welcome. We were there for sunday lunch and the roasts were really good but we all felt slightly let down by gravy that was too salty (The food was really nice, apart from the gravy so our star rating might be harsh but it was the only way to reflect that unfortunately. - BUT TO THE HUGE CREDIT of the staff there when we were asked how our food was and then we gave them our feedback on the gravy they went out of their way to try and rectify the issue)
We would 1 million percent go back there and recommend it to anyone, and im now thinking we're quite harsh at giving out star ratings (but I find it difficult to give 5 stars unless it's flawless)
Thanks to the team at the actress!!!!
I took 12 children here for pizza and burgers for my son's 8th birthday. They didn't seem to be expecting us despite the booking and we had to push tables together ourselves. The bar staff were unresponsive. The chef was very nice and the pizzas were excellent. Most burgers were good (1 was burnt a little too much) and pasta slightly greasy, but overall a great meal.
The most I like was the awesome staff! People make an experience the icing on the cake! Genuine Dog lovers here which was great as we have one!
Excellent Service and delicious home made pizza, good space.the restaurant is good for bringing children.
Booked for a family gathering for 12 people - Great restaurant, lovely roast. Love the nachos
The Actress is a pub with a food corner. Their speciality seems to be pizzas which are done in a wood oven. We had starters and mains, all of us having pizza but one. The pizzas were very good and a great combination of toppings and not just your normal arrangement of options. One person had the pork burger and they said that went down a treat. The outstanding item on the menu has to go to the chicken wings in honey and soy sauce. These were absolutely amazing.
Only disappointment was all the food turned up at the same time rather than being separated into mains and starters. Also with only, what felt like, one person doing the food section it was difficult to get his attention to order drinks or get the bill etc.
Overall a good meal had.
Excellent, friendly and extremely helpful staff. Good selection of dishes on the menu and food was cooked to perfection. One area of suggested improvement would be to review the noise level of the background music. Very few people in the pub when we ate, yet the music was so loud we couldn't have a conversation at our table. This is a minor point when viewed against the overall positive experience of this venue. We will definitely eat there again.
