The Angel at Burford
Simplicity and quality are top of our "must have' list here at The Angel. We source our ingredients locally, make full use of seasonal produce and never compromise on standards.
Our menu aims to provide an exceptional standard of food that you can enjoy in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. You will find a mixture of pub classics, seasonal specials, lighter bites and dishes with that little bit extra.
Great food and service as always
Excellent food and faultless service. I will visit again.
We had a most delicious meal, well presented and served in a very cozy environment. We would not hesitate to recommend The Angel.
A nice little restaurant serving a mix of traditional and modern pub fare in a lovely building. Quite expensive for the small portion sizes, but only slightly more than other menus in Burford. Friendly if slightly slow service.
Outstanding all around. Can't recommend it enough.
Excellent atmosphere and food!! The staff was very kind as well!!
We love The Angel for its food, ambience, fabulous staff and warm welcome. Whether sitting in the garden in the summer or inside the cosy pub in winter, the warm welcome and fabulous food are the same - we think it is THE place to go in Burford.
Great food and atmosphere for a Christmas Eve family get to get together! Staff were wonderful and it made the start to our Christmas perfect!!
Food was absolutely lovely and the staff were really polite and friendly. We really enjoyed our meal and would definitely return.
The Angel is my favourite pub in Burford, the ambience is great as is the food and the service is very friendly. It did not disappoint on this visit!
Excellent food . Service was outstanding. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant
Food not as good as we have had before but still good.
Great place and we like it but unfortunately not at all kid friendly despite having a kids menu.
We have a 3 yr old with autistic/ ADHD signs. After being very good for almost 2 hours he wanted to look around the place. We had already decided to leave but was asked to ensure he stayed by our table. While we wait for the bill and put coats on.
Not quite sure what was expected of us as he wasn’t loud or disturbing. Perhaps the owner expected us to smack or shout at our child ? But this does not work.
If our son had more physical or obvious disabilities would this had been said?
Did taint our visit and hope that other parents are aware that this is not really a family place but more of a adult venue.
A lovely pub restaurant overall but there is very limited space to have a drink and catch-up before sitting to table. The front door opens into the eating area so very drafty with people coming and going. There was one open fire lit but, even though we arrived at 12.15 on a Thursday, it felt cold in there. Not very ‘Christmassy ‘ at all even though close to Christmas Day.
Service was good but I was disappointed with my meal - having said that my three dining companions all felt their meal was very good.
I chose scallops and bacon as a starter - scallops too small for the price ( £11 for 3) and the bits of bacon so crisp I had to use fingers to eat it, but tasty enough.
My main course was the olive and tomato risotto - olives tasted and looked like standard ‘cheap’ bottled green olives and too many for my taste. The rice - far too soft and more like a pudding !
No desert so no comment although the choice looked excellent.
The food was excellent and the staff very helpful and friendly. Had 2 meals at The Angel and would thoroughly recommend it to any visitors to Burford. Also it is dog friendly which was a nice surprise.
Great service really good Sunday roast and lovely atmosphere
Amazing service and food, Sunday roast and desserts were beautiful
We had a lovely time at the Angel, we have been many times before and it never lets us down.
Amazing food ..definitely try the roast ☺️
Fantastic Sunday lunch, couldn’t fault the food or the service.
Fantastic food and service
Would highly recommend the Angel
Hidden away in side road from the main Burford High Street, the Angel is warm, cosy and intimate. The food was excellent and the service was very good. Only very slight negative is that our table was positioned in close proximity to our neighbours and the fireplace & my partner felt slightly uncomfortable at times as if he was in the way of the staff passing by.
You are guaranteed a good meal at any time of the day the The Angel.
Terrific menu choices and the staff are delightful!
Perfect for a cozy meal or celebration alike.
Pre- booked on a busy Saturday lunchtime. Weather was awful so Dining area was full. Even so
Service was good and attentive but not over attentive. Food was excellent as usual and menu had just the right amount of variety without being pretentious. Overall a good lunch dining experience. Would recommend booking in advance as we did particularly at the weekend it's very easy on line.
Had a very pleasant evening with extremely good food. Best in Burford in our opinion. Thanks
Good first visit. Not wowed but enjoyable lunch and would return. friendly service.
A really nice pub atmosphere, attentive staff ... could do with an extra person helping to serve and clear our table and others !
Tasty food which is expected
Tucked away down a side street off Burford High Street is this lovely little pub, set-up mainly for dining, with small bar area. Most of our food was excellent, scallop starter delicious, as was the liver and steak was good too. Fish and chips not so great, fish over cooked and chips not great. Desserts fab!
All in all definitely worth a visit; friendly staff and traditional pub feel.
Enjoyed Sunday lunch even though we did not have the usual Sunday roast. Food was great highly recommend the cheese soufflé and cod loin delicious. Service very good especially as they were pretty busy when we arrived. Lovely meal and will definitely be back
Really lovely evening. Perfect service. Just very squished where we had been sat.
Excellent Sunday roast but I found a bit disappointing only one tray of veggies for 3 people
Met up with three friends. The pub is the ideal location for us as we all travel about 1hr 30mins.
It has a nice atmosphere & is friendly.
We're always made to feel very welcome, the food is always nicely presented, beautifully cooked and extremely tasty. Afterwards we go for a walk before departing for our respective journeys home.
Great food, love the cheese burger. Good soup too.
Our meal was outstanding had there soufflé to start ,great than had cavles liver excellent service first class can't wait eat there again
Food on the plate was good, however severely let down by Sunday service. We had to ask three times just for a jug of water, our food was not hot so by the time you were near the end of the plate it was cold. a couple asked for carrots, we thought this was a good idea as we only had cabbage with our roast, then realised we were supposed to have a bowl of root vegetables which never appeared and this was not acknowledged by staff. Would not recommend.
As always, The staff at The Angel were welcoming, the choice & quality of food was super and generally just a lovely, cosy experience - thank you
Sunday lunch was lovely, great quality food, lovely friendly service too.
Our second visit to the angel - gorgeous food, atmosphere and drinks!
Lovely evening as always, staff attentive and food was great!
I have been before and food was lovely
But sadly this time lamb was tough and the knife blunt so hard to cut. I did tell 2 members of staff it was tough but no response. Would still try again though.
Highly reccomend the Angel, it was really busy but we didn't have any wait, the food was great, the service was excellent, friendly staff, have been in again since we had lunch. Go.
