The Angel at Burford
Simplicity and quality are top of our "must have' list here at The Angel. We source our ingredients locally, make full use of seasonal produce and never compromise on standards.
Our menu aims to provide an exceptional standard of food that you can enjoy in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. You will find a mixture of pub classics, seasonal specials, lighter bites and dishes with that little bit extra.
We had a very good Sunday lunch experience. The roast beef with all the trimmings was generous and beautifully cooked and the ploughman's and cheeseburger chosen by others in our party looked equally good. The service was patient with a slow decision-making group. The pub is cute and cosy with nice decor and good loos. Heartily recommended.
We had a warm welcome at the Angel at Burford from the bar staff and was served promptly with drinks and directed to our table.
The Angel has a great atmosphere with wood burning stove and wooden beams.
We enjoyed a two course meal which was extremely delicious and filling.
The waiting staff made sure we were well catered for and were very friendly.
Fabulous food would definitely recommend and hopefully one day return.
Fab little place in Burford! Food was beautiful, lovely flavours and nice choice of meals. Very good value for the quality too. Nice & cosy setting, perfect for a winters evening! Will definitely return :-)
Recommended by a local and it was a delicious late meal. We actually ordered apitizers and made that our meal. It was a nice mix of tastes and flavors. It was also quiet and cozy. A great ending to a perfect day of traveling around The Cotswalds.
Delicious food, a menu that caters for all needs, and service that is efficient and attentive but not overbearing. A warm welcome and excellent value for money.
Live locally and want to try all the eateries available and this one will be near the top of my list so far. Staff very pleasant, the atmosphere very pleasing and the food and beer were both excellent. Highly recommended.
Great service. Great ingredients very nice time there will visit again and again
We have been to the Angel before and had a great meal. this time it was disappointing. The meal choice was poor with several things from an already limited menu sold out. No mains specials at all! This was at 7.30 on the bank holiday Sunday. Were they really going to be able to restock for bank holiday Monday? The tables for 2 were squashed together with very little privacy between couples. No apologies for the limited choice and no attempt to offer a suitable available. Fresh veg had run out so a salad was offered!
The food we eventually had was ok. Service was ok, but I don't like to have to open my own wine.
Excellent Sunday roast, even at 18.30. Never fails to disappoint.
Lovely pub, lovely garden area as well. Excellent food & service and dog friendly
Celebrating my Husband Brian retirement and it was a great place to stay, stayed there many years ago so it held great memories.
A lovely gastro pub in the heart of Burford. Not the most extensive menu but we all enjoyed our meals and wine. Very friendly clientele and staff
Great food in great setting for a celebratory meal with old friends.
Very accommodating and helpful staff
....allowed us to wait at our tables 'til our friends turned up late after an horrendous journey from West Wales!
FIRST TIME WE HAVE BEEN HERE AND WE ARE REASONABLY LOCAL. 5 OF US SAT IN THE WINDOW ON A ROUND TABLE (DO SO LIKE THOSE) AND HAD A REALLY GOOD MEAL. MUSIC FESTIVAL GOING ON AND JUST A REALLY GOOD ATMOSPHERE ABOUT THE PLACE. THERE IS A FANTASTIC BACK GARDEN THAT GOES ON FOREVER! HIGHLIGHTS WERE THE SPICY MEAT BALLS, STEAK AND ETON MESS. BEER FESTIVAL WAS ON AS WELL ...... WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK?
Great food, good value for money. Had a great evening all round. Live music at the summer festival was fab
We had a lovely meal at the Angel at Burford, the food and service was very good.
My only disappointment was the seating availability, we had booked well in advance and ended up seated near the door and the bar with a number of locals right next to our table. There was another option but it would have been cramped between two other tables.
The food was excellent and we could not fault the service.
Enjoyable light lunch in the garden, on a beautiful summer’s day (another one)
Nice pub, nice staff, reasonable food!
Great food and service, had a lovely time. Will be back
We enjoyed our lunch ocsssion with family members.
Pleasant garden. We would come again.
Met with friends from different parts of the country for Sunday lunch. We'd all travelled over an hour to meet up.
Was a hot summers day, we have a coffee out in the garden and then found a shady table and ate a delicious Sunday roast.
Service was quick, but unhurried. Atmosphere was relaxed and I came away feeling I had a lovely meal and good day out.
Thank-you so much and we will all be back in the Autumn.
Food was fair. My Sunday lunch was good, but dessert was average. Let themselves down with terrible service. We were there for 2.5 hours. Starters didn't arrive until 1 hour after seating.
Was looking forward to the meal, but was disappointed with the overall experience and won't return.
Staff great, food so good.we sat in the garden which was lovely.
Absolutely first class place to eat, we will definitely be back again in the near future
Very easy to book online. Lovely garden with plenty of shade. Interesting menu. Soup far too spicy for the two who choose it (should have been warned and no compensation for not being able to consume it). Rest of the meals were very nice and the waiting staff helpful.
The pub has a nice beer garden and friendly atmosphere, the food however was poor in absolute and value terms too.
Given that our visit was at the end of a busy hot Saturday evening, we were still not satisfied. This table had been booked on Open Table over a week beforehand a table of 4. Not too much of a challenge..There was Food not available, serving staff asking the same questions several times. We asked for the wine list but it was not delivered until after the main course. We were served Black over cooked and burnt right thru "skin on fries". There were lenghty periods between service and £12 yes £12 for a not very well endowed cheese board. We did get a replacement for the Fries but was then charged for the replacement! By this stage we had simply lost the will to complain. We just paid and escaped putting the evening down to experience. We will not return! We will not recomend this establishment to any friends, as we think one evening spoilt is one too many.
Excellent menu to suit all tastes. We have visited on many occasions and every time it is superb.
Unfortunately they had ran out of the roast beef. But as always great food and service
We have used this restaurant before but for a reunion with friends as Burford is close to being halfway for all of us. On this occasion, as it was Fathers' Day, we had booked lunch for 2 in advance although only a few days before due to a late change in our plans. The restaurant was busy but we were seated promptly. There was a small delay before our order was taken. The meals delivered to us were not quite as ordered even though the waiter had written down the slight variation however the situation was quickly rectified by the kitchen, that said the food was excellent.
Nice atmosphere, good service
And lovely food. Would recommend again - 3rd visit since March and each time doesn't disappoint.
We had looked forward to our night at The Angel and although the service and food were good the same could not be said about value for money, we always prefer good quality food as opposed to huge portions of ordinary food but the size of the meals offered by The Angel don't measure up to the amount charged. We're visiting Burford again this September and won't be eating at The Angel.
Waiter did not listen to our order. He forgot the wine on two separte occations
The booking process was fine but 3 inches of Cod for £17 very poor vfm!
The Angel provided a friendly if not unconvincing dining experience. The staff were friendly but the food was late coming out when the place was relatively quiet. Quite expensive for what was essentially pub grub although quite tasty. Nice environment in the pub garden in the sunny weather. I would go again but wouldn’t order the expensive puddings as I wouldn’t be able to justify spending £7 on them.
Nice pub with good service. Food is of a high standard but the portions are fairly small considering the price of main meals.
Booked a table last minute for Sunday lunch. Excellent as always. Best Sunday roast around.
Lovely country pub close to the centre of Burford. Great food, service and atmosphere. Went two nights in a row and enjoyed both equally.
Third visit with friends. Very good food with a good range of choices. Excellent service.
Would come again.
Had a great meal at the restaurant. Sat round the back. Nice authentic feel the place. Food was great and service equally as good.
Fantastic atmosphere and first class customer service. Food was very nice. Would highly recommend.
