Located in the island town of Menai Bridge, The Anglesey Arms is over 200 years old, a favourite local pub-restaurant with friendly service and a warm welcome for those fresh off of the famed Telford bridge that brings visitors from the Welsh mainland. Carefully refurbished in the summer of 2011, The Anglesey Arms Hotel blends genuine traditional Welsh charm with contemporary styling, embracing local heritage within its long white-painted walls but still feeling clean and modern at the same time. In the pub, with its wood panelled bar – hung with the tack from the first horse across the Menai Bridge - salmon pink walls and row of stools, guests enjoy well-kept J.W. Lees real ales, carefully picked wines and a full range of spirits alongside simple, delicious bar food. Appropriately The Anglesey Arms Hotel’s menu lists the very best of British with traditional pub classics the backbone of the selection.

Have eaten here before at lunch time so thought we might try for tea time. On arrival we were told a third of the menu wasn’t available which gave us second thoughts about staying. We were told no Sunday roasts no steaks no burgers no hake no mussels no chicken strips which left us disappointed as we were meeting family and had recommended we eat here

I booked a table for 7 people at 7pm online. I received instant online confirmation as well as an email to confirm our booking. When we arrived the staff said they had no record of the booking. The restaurant was only half full so they were able to seat us anyway. It was a Sunday and we had primarily chosen the venue as their Sunday roast sounded good and was served until 9pm. As we sat down we were told they had run out of Yorkshire puddings. Within 10 minutes they came and took the Sunday menu away and said it was now unavailable but we could still order from the standard menu. My mother in law asked if it was possible to swap chips for mashed potatoes with the pie and was told no, the mashed potato portions were already allocated to other meals. At this point we left. The staff did try and seemed sympathetic but were annoyed when we left as they had poured out a couple of the drinks order.
The restaurant looked like a good place - it was a nice setting but the menu was expensive and other diners could be heard complaining they had been waiting a long time - even though they weren't busy.
We were understandably really disappointed with the whole experience.

Very disappointed. I had previously heard very good reports but we had not been there for a while. The staff were lovely but the service was exceedingly slow to the point that it took about half an hour to be served, after a reminder, the “While You Wait” bread and cod goujons, the latter were huge chunks of cod in batter and more like a main course. They forgot to bring the water. No one seemed to be in charge of managing the staff, there was no sign of any maitre d’. It took ages for the main course and desserts to arrive and, when they did arrive, they were really not worth the wait at all. We will not be going again unless things improve.

The staff were very good, and flexible as we had guests arriving at different times. They were attentive to the kids (aged 13 and 7).

The food was good and the outdoor area is good for children.

We got there and the waitresses just ignored us, so we had to grab their attention to let them know we had a booking and whether we could just choose a table. When we went to order two of the waitresses were having a domestic in front of us. After taking my order the waitress walked off when my friend still needed to order and again had to walk around the bar to say we still had an order to make.

This pub/hotel restaurant has had a contemporary makeover and provides honest local food at a good price. There is plenty of choice on the menu, including daily specials, and a good wine list. The beer battered fish and chips were delicious - other favourites were the home made lasagne and steak burger.

Visited the Anglesey Arms for an anniversary meal. Waiting on staff clueless! When asked what is served with the chicken dish....she replied "not much really!"
Seated at a table and then asked to move as it had been reserved.
Table next to us waited 30 mins for rice pudding - still uncooked when it finally arrived.
Dining room staff need clear direction / training and educating on the menu.
The food was ok. Nothing special. Expected much better quality. Access to smoking area is right through the middle of the restaurant....
The Anglesey Arms are trying to do everything - hotel / restaurant / pub - sadly not very well.

It started off badly when they had no record of my booking. They did find us a table eventually. We ordered drinks which took over 30 minutes to arrive. We ordered beef for two of us and the other two had burgers. The children had Lasagne. The burgers were uninspired, the chips were ok what little of them they had. The beef was lovely but the bed of mash it came on had so much pepper in it that it was inedible. We waited 30 mins for a server to clear our plates. At this point it was no longer busy. The desserts which took their time coming and when they did the children's icecream was half melted already. The waitress did not smile once. The bill which was high for the level of food and service we received. We will not be returning.

Had a nice evening out as a group booking dining for a birthday celebration, service was good the only let-down was very minimal choice for vegetarians. Definately need more choice.

The service was pleasant and thre food of a good standard pub style.
There was a friendly busy atmosphere - we would go again. Good value.
