Best restaurant EVER. Perfect for any occasions. Thank you for making my mum’s birthday special. She enjoyed it and so did I. Will definately be coming back.
Food and Cocktails was great, I fell in love with their goats cheese mash.
Location, Food and service was fantastic. I was a bit disappointed on the mandatory service charge added to the bill as I like to be able to do my own tips directly to the staff that served us
dined here on sunday 20 October at 12.45 it was quiet at that time and we were shown to a table near a window. Other tables were rather dark. The waitresses attended unobtrusively and the 4 mains were very good 3 steaks and a veg meal. All the steaks were well cooked and tasty.
overall a good set up for the theatre ahead.
Food was good. Service average. Waiter came to table in beginning then only saw him one other time when he tried to have me and my husband share a salad! We both have colds. Not the best of ideas. Never saw him again after that. Atmosphere was lively. Jazz singer there. Couldn’t hear her set cause way too loud inside. Overall ok experience. Prices seemed fair.
Myself and a friend came for dinner just before our friends Jazz Performance. Quirky restaurant which is much bigger than it appears from the outside. Lovely food and wine and great ambience. Service was good as a whole but flaked off near the end of the evening. It was very hard to get the waiting staffs attention to get a drink and the overall bill. But apart from that we have a fabulous evening of lots of food, drinks, jazz and a generally perfect atmosphere. So thank you very much!
Great place to have quick dinner before going to the theatre - the cocktails are great too.
Consistently good food.......ambience and service.
Good food and perfect location by South Bank. But I resent a "voluntary" service being added to my bill. If I wish to reward good service I will. I don't need management to do it for me. And to add insult to injury, we were informed that the service charge is not passed to staff but added to the business bottom line. We declined to pay the service charge and tipped the waiter in cash.
Friendly, lively hang out for a mixed age crowd. There is often live jazz from piano or small band. Downstairs bar and tables on higher levels, and in the conservatory. Excellent range of food. Interactive and attentive staff, prompt service, and a great central location near Waterloo and the South Bank.
Lovely venue and conveniently situated for Waterloo, the South Bank and Central London. Great place to meet with friends and have a long lunch. Great Food, good service, all in all highly recommended
Always love the Arch Duke. The staff are very welcoming and have got to know me over the years, it means a great deal to have the personal contact.
The noise level was excessive spoiling the whole experience
Love love love this place. It’s my 2nd visit this time with girlfriends after a matinee. Relieved to know also all of my friends loved it too. Food is good, not overpriced as is the wine and steps away from the station. Perfect
Location is novel being under the arches. Service was good and the food was excellent. Would definitely recommend and will be back.
Wonderful staff, exquisite food, top-notch entertainment and all in a fantastic location!
We'd reserved a table at the Archduke for a family reunion dinner largely based on favourable reviews plus convenient location to our hotel. Staff were friendly welcoming & all four of us enjoyed our food. I went for the seabass which was very good, my dining partners had cumberland sausage, burger & boeuf bourguignon respectively (the one who had the burger declared it was actually the best he'd ever eaten). Portion size was good but we still all managed to find some room for dessert which was also good. As well as the food itself, I was impressed with the prices which I thought very reasonable by London's standards. A successful evening - great location, good food & very reasonable prices to boot.
Great place to stop off if you're travelling to/from Waterloo train station. Though the place was busy the staff were excellent and extremely efficient and friendly. We booked for dinner and had a quick drink before our table was ready. I was pleased to see a fantastic selection of non-alcoholic cocktails including Seedlip! The food was delicious and there was live jazz music. Lovely end to the evening. Would definitely go again.
Great meal, great value for money. Service could've been a bit quicker, but to be fair, it was Saturday evening. Nice venue. Would not hesitate to book again.
On a Saturday evening service was efficient and timely, food was hot and tasty and not overly expensive for London. Atmosphere was also nice and would go back
Met the manager who was charming and when busy, which it became, rolled his sleeves up and got on with it. That’s why the brigade are so good. Food as always fresh and well cooked. Tip top!
Food was very good but noise level really too much !
We had an enjoyable evening at the Archduke. Pre-theatre menu was reasonably priced and steak was excellent, cooked to perfection. Staff were friendly and mainly attentive. Will definitely return and would recommend.
Always a good dining experience. Good food and choice of drinks. Very good service and pleasant atmosphere
Food was only average
Very dim lighting
Service was average
We enjoyed a lovely bean soup to start and the Boef Bourgignon was lovely and tender. Staff were attentive, and the Portugese red wine served in a caraf was very good.
Good food, good service at a reasonable price. Great as a pre-theatre meal.
We had the pre-theatre meal and it was great value, really delicious. The service was prompt and friendly, and the whole place was really cool with a great atmosphere. We’d definitely come again!
A classic, always a good place to meet friends and have a well prepared meal. Reasonable prices too.
I always enjoy the Archduke being a regular for a number of years. On this occassion took some friends who hadn't been there before. They enjoyed as well and it was just right for what we wanted to do, sit and chat and catch up. Only black mark was running out of the excellant beef bourguignon; we ordered three but only one available!!
We made a booking online to hear the Jazz band perform and mentioned that we will just be having drinks. Our table wasn't ready for half an hour, and after being moved twice we finally sat down at our table. A few minutes later a waiter came up and said we can't sit there if we're not ordering anything, and that people are waiting for a table so we can't just take up space. Not only did he say this in an intentionally hostile way, we were moved to a fourth table in the span of 40 minutes. The whole experience was very unpleasant as we felt more like a nuisance than customers, and the waiter's behaviour was rude and unprofessional. It's too bad because the place was great, but the service was something more akin to a chip shop.
Great place for a pre theatre meal. Good value for money but leave enough time as service can be a little slow when they are busy.
Really tasty food and good value for money for this area. Lovely atmosphere with the live music.
I really enjoy going to the Arch Duke. The staff are very welcoming and as attentive as needed. We are never rushed and can take our time with a drink before ordering. The food is always good.
Very enjoyable pre theatre meal. I would recommend it for a quick meal.
Not our first visit, but yet again very good. Staff are great ,very helpful and were able to give advice re dietary problem. Smoked salmon starter was very tasty, reasonable sized portions. My partner had the lamb cutlets, rare as requested and 4 good sized cutlets. The salmon was tasty but a bit over cooked for my taste. Good sized portions. Would definitely use again.
We are in our mid 70s and have travelled extensively. We have NEVER before been chased in the street by a waiter who accused us of not paying our bill correctly. The bill was £80.44 including tip and we left 4 x £20 notes plus a £1 coin. This was on a Friday evening when there were so many people around, all of whom stood and watched us being accused.
We have used the Archduke many times before but now we dare not return.
Lively restaurant and ideally located close to Waterloo and Royal Festival Hall. We chose the pre theatre menu, which did not disappoint. Varied menu and lovely food. Would recommend.
I think the standard has gone down a bit - food wise. My sea bass was a bit overcooked and a little dry.
I brought my mother and family members here and everything was spot on for everyone ! We will be coming again when she’s in London , this time with my dad
It was very loud with Jazz and people singing, etc. Food was fairly good. Carpeting was dirty and rundown. Service was good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back, but might if I were in that part of town and just looking to get a meal.
