Great vibe, excellent service. It was my Stepfathers Birthday the previous week and I forgot I mentioned it when I booked and the Manager asked and gave him a complimentary prosessco. Food was nice, service prompt and atmosphere great!
Dined here several times. Introduced some friends to the Archduke on Thursday, they were suitable impressed.
The service is excellent; we arrived before I book time and was still taken straight to the table. One of our party was late but will put under no pressure at all. The food is always good and the steak frites was cooked precisely right.
Due to mix up between ourselves we overpaid the bill but within a few minutes I’d had a call from the manager to sort it out. Really friendly and professional.
Eating here numerous times , always first class , definite 5 stars
Large family gathering - we were originally booked into a large seating booth but the staff very kindly though that might be too cramped for all seven of us, so they offered to prepare a larger, more open table and moved us when it was ready. Very accommodating environment, pianist and double bass player added some easy background jazz whilst we drank, ate and chatted. Good food - slightly small portions - good value though.
Really great aesthetic, just under Waterloo station, very convenient for that area. The food was good (we had steaks) and the staff provide an excellent service. It's a little noisy because of trains nearby but it's not too bothersome (at least it's not music!) I would recommend this place.
What a nice evening! Great friendly greeting and very competent staff looking after you. Got the table I requested as well. Have booked again for next week!
Always a lovely choice!
We were greeted with “no steak frites no lamb’ as we entered. The air conditioning was blasting out though it was 6 pm and almost empty. They didn’t bring our starter and the shepherds pie was tasteless. Burger ok. What a shame this used to be a good place for pre theatre
We reserved the table for a special occasion so I called to ensure a nice table has been reserved for us. When we arrived the waiter had no information about our request and just said you can sit where you like. Which wasn't a problem as the restaurant was not very busy. However it would have been nice to be expected. The waitress wasn't very attentive and looked like she rather wants to be somewhere else.
The food was very good and the ambiente with the two jazz musicians was great. We will definitey to again, but with less expectations if it is another special occassion.
Excellent as usual. Definitely returning for more!
Great service, friendly, charged my phone which was a great help
This was not my first visit and will not be my last. The whole experience complements my (infrequent) visits to the RFH and thus I have a very enjoyable evening out. Thank you.
Vacation in London and this topped off the trip perfectly. Great menu, super separate bar area fabulous environment (between the arches of an active railroad overpass). Steaks are the absolute shrimp best we had anywhere in the UK - and we were there for 30 Days!
Great food and service as always!
We eat at the Archduke before attending concerts at the Festival Hall. It is pleasant and reliable and has a pre-theatre menu which is good value. Vegetable side orders were disappointing but a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc by the glass was excellent.
I enjoyed a birthday meal here, the ribeye was very good and the wine and dessert were excellent. Service was attentive and friendly, and we never felt rushed or ignored. The ambience is excellent, being in a hub of activity near the South Bank and under the arches of a railway. Overall value was excellent. Would definitely go back.
Lovely meal after a long day. Seated very quickly and served with drinks. Food order taken when we ready and the food came cane in a timely manner. We all had steak, but each had a different one. All the steaks were cooked perfectly although I think they could have been rested a while longer as we all had juices flowing on the plate. Didn't bother us but may be off putting to others. Overall very good.
Food was barely average. Service was very poor. Waitress forgot to bring our salads and brought the two of us one to share at the same time as our entrees. The salad consisted of lettuce and a little cheese sprinkled on top. Never saw her again after that and had to ask another waitress for our check.
We arrived 15 minutes early which was no problem, we were shown to a table straight away,
The service was great,we had a lovely meal with live jazz in the background.
This was a very pleasant experience. The booking was simple and efficient, the atmosphere busy but buzzy. My reason for giving only 4 stars was that the steak was tasty but rather chewy.
Having recently tried the nearby Black & Blue and been disappointed, we decided to try the Archduke instead. We certainly received a more friendly welcome and service was much better. We had the pre-theatre menu which offered an adequate choice for the price and was well cooked. My cinnamon cheesecake was a bit overpowering but my wife enjoyed her ice cream. The main downside was the noise (I assume) from the extractor fan plus the rumble of overhead trains. There was also something suspicious floating in the wine carafe!
We were taken to an area that at first felt a little out of the way, however I discovered it was ideal for us to have a good natter uninterrupted. Excellent food, cocktails and friendly service. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.
Great place to meet pre-theatre and wondered why I've never been here before. Good menu and the food was really good (although a little under-seasoned if I'm honest). Love the live music as well. Good for popping in for an informal drink or supper.
Great venue and surprisingly quiet when we visited! Great to hear the jazz piano. Excellent service and lovely food. We will come again.
Lovely restaurant, great for celebrating special occasions. Everything was well. Thank you.
This is a friendly stylish place, very handy for Waterloo and the theatres and concert halls. The restaurant has excellent views and the food and wine are good and reasonably priced.
Lovely place, great food and great music in the background - love the vibe
This was my 6th visit and it never disappoints. It has become our 'go to' choice when meeting friends / family in London. The staff go out of their way to make every meal a pleasure, the ambiance is perfect for a relaxed and enjoyable meal, whether it is for a celebration or just for 'the hell of it'! The food is good value for money and nothing is too much in terms of special requirements. Am already looking forward to my next visit.
It's a little pricey, the food isn't amazing (but it is good), and the service is some of the best I've experienced in London in 13 years.
A very pleasant place to meet. Not too noisy to chat to an old friend we only see once a year. Good service. Interesting menu including some old faithfuls. Not rushed out to make way for others.
Lovely venue And there is a piano player! Cocktails were delicious..although it was a bit cheeky having a card on the table indicating that all cocktails were £6 between 4-6pm...but after 6 cocktails.. we realised in the small print that it was Mon-Thu only! It was Friday!
But food was delicious and yummy.
We arrived at 2.30pm for lunch! Just the right amount of busy!
We were seated upstairs near the live music and we could also see a drawing class that was taking place, which was fun to watch.
We ordered a bottle of wine and were then told its 50% off wines!!
Being the classy girls we are, we stayed until 9pm and had...a lot of wine! So much so i woke up the next morning to my horror with a voicemail stating we hadn't paid our tab!!! We must of drunkenly walked out! I was mortified! I called the Archduke as soon as they opened to apologise and confirm i would pay! The General Manager was very gratious and very grateful I had called. He stated he would investigate and call me back! I later got a voicemail confirming I had actually paid the majority of our bill, it was just another bottle of wine ordered after that hadn't been paid. The General Manager confirmed he was so pleased I had called back to make payment that the bottle of wine was on the house!!! It pays to be honesty and good karma comes bqck to you! Lovely place!!
Very good food and the live jazz band was a prefect touch to a great evening
We ate here for pre-theatre dinner. It was adequate. The food was average and so was the service; no complaints but I would not choose to eat here again.
A lovely pre-theatre meal was served with elegant service. The waitress was attentive but discreet and the Sicilian wine was good. We enjoyed our meal (Butterfly prawns and steak) before attendinga concert at the RFH. This was a return visit and will not be the last.
First time I have been here and have booked to go there again.
As always lovely well cooked food and friendly service with the added benefit of soothing live jazz.
Staff were lovely and very accommodating of our quite messy 1 year old! They took time to chat and we felt really looked after. A very relaxed atmosphere.
