We are excited to announce that award winning restaurant, the Artichoke, set in the beautiful market town of Old Amersham, has revealed its new extended space together with sumptuous contemporary interiors. Those who have dined before will notice the fluid addition with its soothing and muted colours which compliments the already carefully considered décor. The gorgeous ‘Living Wall’ of herbs is still in place, and you are now seated in either the 'Garden Dining Room’, or the 'Kitchen Dining Room, where you can view Laurie and his team hard at work in the open kitchen and reserve one of the Chef's Table, a great option for sampling the innovative tasting menus. There is also the ‘Wine Dining Room’ on the first floor leading to the well stocked cellar, perfect for sophisticated business dining, private celebrations and wine events. Chef/owner Laurie Gear oversees the refined modern European menu filled with not only charming seasonal additions but foraged herbs, berries and flowers.

What a fabulous lunch from the Lunch Tasting Menu - every course was excellent but would pick out the smoked trout and the pork belly with mushroom sauce and pappadelle which was sensational. We paired it wit the wines flight - again all worked really well - esp loved the unoaked Malbec with the pork.
We only moved to the area 2.5 years ago and somehow had missed this restaurant. Service was first class - relaxed but precise , overall great value for money. Definitely will be back.

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. We loved every mouthful of this amazing sensory experience. The tasting lunch scored 10 out of 10 every course from all of us paired with exquisite service. Thank you Artichoke - we look forward to returning.

Came in for a lunch tasting menu for our anniversary. The food was delicious, seriously delicious, and was fairly good value for 5 courses. The artichoke and pork belly in particular were amazing. The staff were attentive and lovely, even swapping out a menu item for me and bringing us a little dessert surprise. It's in a quaint little town with parking nearby. Great experience and would love to return sometime.

I have visited the Artichoke 3 times, and have enjoyed each occasion. This time I took my husband for his Birthday, and he thought it was the best meal he had eaten out outside London. Highly recommend the Artichoke Restaurant, the food, wine and service are excellent!!

An amazing dining experience. We had the 6 course tasting menu & wine flight and enjoyed every morsel! The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and very accommodating to my gluten free/no seafood diet. It was my birthday treat and they made it very special. Highly recommend!

The ambience & service were old fashioned and a little cold, but the tasting menu was excellent!

We notified the restaurant about a special occasion (25th Anniversary) & therefore requested special seating. We were next to the staircase & kitchen. They did however present us with a beautifully decorated sweat plate.

I hadn't realised that the meal choice would be between two tasting menus only. The food was beautifully presented but for me, not exceptional - no 'absolutely delicious' comments to make. Everything tasted good and competent, but nothing remarkable. Foody friends of mine who highly rate the place would no doubt disagree! Fantastic service, friendly and professional.

We had the set lunch menu which offered only two choices of starter, mains and desert. The menu choices were unique and interesting. However i felt in the service I was pressed to consider the tasting menus which were much more expensive, and I was pressed to order more wine than I was comfortable with. The wine list was outstanding if you could afford it. However choice of wine by the glass was in my view too limited.

8 course tasting menu - all dishes wonderful, especially enjoyed the cod dish and beetroot sorbet.
Warm and friendly service but not too intrusive.
We were glad to note that Wine and champagne by the glass were served to us on the generous side of correct measures.
The prices mean that this is a special occasion restaurant for us and we will look forward to our next visit.

Really disappointing . Service hit and miss - no thought for dinners.
Food decent - but certainly not worth the £££ - for the £90 a head- find somewhere else - sorry but being totally honest .

The food here is well executed, with some inventiveness and, at £60 for a 6-course tasting menu, quite good value. Unfortunately, the service is not up to the standard of the food. Conversations were frequently interrupted to provide unnecessary descriptions of the food or to try and push more bottles of wine and water. Having said that, the restaurant is quite quiet, allowing conversation (when the staff leave you alone).

Went on a Tuesday and had the six course tasting menu. The whole experience was lovely, the staff were very attentive and helped suggest a lovely bottle of wine when we decided against having the wine flight. The food was utterly delicious and we didn't feel over faced at the end. Have been here a few times now and can't wait to go back.

One of my favourite local places. Ideal for a special occasion because the attention to detail is spot on. The value for the taster menu (6 or 8 courses) is extremely good. The flavours are sublime. All in all top notch experience.

First class restaruant and really good value. However, £11.00 plus 12.5% for two cups of coffee & 4 small sweets is excessive!

Highly recommended
