A super dinner, great atmosphere and professional without being stuffy service.
Very enjoyable meal! Pleasant environs and great service. Value for money too, as the work in preparation and the team behind the dishes are excellent. The wine pairing was interesting to say the least
The autumn tasting menu was one of the best I have eaten in Artichoke - original, skilled, delicious and unlike anything else being served outside of central London. The consistency of the delivery and use of the best sourced ingredients is one of the reasons we keep going back. The other is the frequent updating of the menu. How this restaurant does not have Michelin stars I do not know when pubs get 2 stars within 20 miles.
6 course tasting menu was delicious. Good service and a nice restaurant.
Much more formal than I realised when booking. Very awkward, over the top service. Food is fantastic, but it's very stuffy and formal. Way too many staff, felt very over aended. More wines by the glass please, its mostly whole bottles which is too much for a lunch. Can't fault the kitchen, amazing food
Very good food but silly over expensive wine prices
Always great interesting food with friendly professional service
My wife and I had the lunch time taster menu with accompanying wine flight. A delightful way to spend a couple of hours!
Been there several times, usually for "special" occasions. Whilst it is a little on the expensive side, you definitely get what you pay for, so a food venue for those "occasions". Will be going back.
Great menu and service. The Artichoke maintains a level of consistency and brilliance which is very difficult to beat.
Overall a brilliant place to take your other half for a special time- never fails to deliver
FABULOUS! amazing restaurant. So lucky to have Artichoke nearby. Haven’t been able to dine there for 18 months , so wonderful to get back. Thank you for a wonderful evening
Birthday disappointed with service
This is the second time we visited this restaurant. Excellent experience again. We chose the set lunch menu and were really blown away with the tastes we were given. Just amazing food an interesting menu. Superb staff well trained and friendly and very knowledgable. Definitely going to be more visits here. Lovely atmosphere.
Great place, brilliant food- new lunch tasting menu is exquisite- all round worth many visits . Good friendly service
Fine dining without the travelling. We had the vegetarian tasting menu for my wife’s birthday perfect service a marvellous array of tastes and an expensive thoroughly delicious bottle of champagne. Extravagant yes, but a great way to celebrate thank you.
Excellent tasting menu. With excellent service and a great atmosphere. Tasting menu was well judged and was well paced so as not be too over-whelming.
Would definitely find an excuse to go again.
We have always been impressed by Laurie's cooking at The Artichoke. And it seems to improve each time we go there.
On this occasion we were slightly disappointed, but that reflects as much the high standards we have come to expect at Artichoke as the actual standard of the cuisine. We ate from the 6 course set menu. The first four courses were excellent; for us, the two dessert dishes were in our view disappointing. And we had an inordinate wait for the final dish - not sure if something went wrong in the production.
It still remains one of our favourite restaurants.
Perfect enjoyment :delicious and unusual food, efficient and charming service, delightful ambience
Absolutely outstanding meal. One of the best I have ever eaten. Chef continues to develop and surprise. Seafood miso was unexpected and astonishing. Every course was magnificent
We have eaten here four or five times and have never had anything we didn’t enjoy. Particularly interesting vegetarian menu. Our lunch tasting menu was summer on a plate.
Another excellent meal at The Artichoke in Amersham. We had the six course tasting menu and all courses were delicious.
Good food although the service needs to be reviewed. We had a chat with the waiter re wine and he recommended a bottle that wasn’t on the menu for £80 and then when we got the bill we were charged £120! All we got was a “sorry I made an error”. He could have at least honoured the initial price (as it was his mistake) but didn’t. Food was delicious though so can’t fault that and they weren’t so hot on their feet when it came to topping up our waters.
We chose the 6 course tasting menu. Probably one of the best we have had. Crab, stuffed courgette flower, lamb, 2 deserts - chocolate and strawberry. All beautifully prepared taste trips. We chose 2 1/2 bottles of wine - a white Gavi and red Gigondas. Hi standard of service.
Really nice evening.
Having been recommended & also read reviews this was something me & my partner have been looking forward to very much, we decided to make it a special lunch for my partners birthday,
What we experienced was totally amazing,We chose the 6 course tasting menu which was an array of wonderful dishes full of flavour, & visually incredible,
Attended by knowledgable waitress about the dishes we were about to eat,
We went on a lunch time which was perfect just about the right ambience, service was spot on all in all a lovely culanry experience which we would easily return to have again!!
How this restraunt isn't Michelin starred is a mystery it should be!!
We've eaten here over a number of years, the food and wine is always amazing - but this time was probably the best yet! Quality, presentation and taste all superb. A real culinary experience.
This restaurant is constantly good, aided perhaps by their style of menu which helps the kitchen present food at its best. An interesting wine list with a helpful, friendly and proactive sommelier. Well with a visit.
Excellent as always. Wonderful lunch in peaceful surroundings with utterly professional staff.
Great service and great food. I will return.
First time at Artichoke but a delightful experience-couldn’t fault the six courses we had and our waiters were very pleasant. A leisurely lunch - no pressure and each course was a delight. Couldn’t single one out to be my favourite. Perhaps wished I’d been in the left had side of the restaurant- more ambience. Only negative -found the petit fours rather too sweet. Had the flight of wines - very good.
What a fabulous lunch from the Lunch Tasting Menu - every course was excellent but would pick out the smoked trout and the pork belly with mushroom sauce and pappadelle which was sensational. We paired it wit the wines flight - again all worked really well - esp loved the unoaked Malbec with the pork.
We only moved to the area 2.5 years ago and somehow had missed this restaurant. Service was first class - relaxed but precise , overall great value for money. Definitely will be back.
Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. We loved every mouthful of this amazing sensory experience. The tasting lunch scored 10 out of 10 every course from all of us paired with exquisite service. Thank you Artichoke - we look forward to returning.
Came in for a lunch tasting menu for our anniversary. The food was delicious, seriously delicious, and was fairly good value for 5 courses. The artichoke and pork belly in particular were amazing. The staff were attentive and lovely, even swapping out a menu item for me and bringing us a little dessert surprise. It's in a quaint little town with parking nearby. Great experience and would love to return sometime.
Some of the best food we have eaten in a long time highly recommend
Very friendly service. Wonderful food.
Amazing food, matched perfectly with the wine flight. We enjoyed the six course tasting menu and found each offering absolutely superb. We would return every week if finances allowed.
Fabulous! We had the Taster 6 courses and it was delicious. The service was excellent and we will definitely be back bringing more friends as we loved it. Thankyou.
I have visited the Artichoke 3 times, and have enjoyed each occasion. This time I took my husband for his Birthday, and he thought it was the best meal he had eaten out outside London. Highly recommend the Artichoke Restaurant, the food, wine and service are excellent!!
Great place, great food - wonderful lunch tasting menu - worth the extra. Staff are very friendly and attentive and are perfect representatives of the restaurant. A perfect place for a date meal to relax and chat whilst enjoy the food and wine.
An amazing dining experience. We had the 6 course tasting menu & wine flight and enjoyed every morsel! The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and very accommodating to my gluten free/no seafood diet. It was my birthday treat and they made it very special. Highly recommend!
The ambience & service were old fashioned and a little cold, but the tasting menu was excellent!
We notified the restaurant about a special occasion (25th Anniversary) & therefore requested special seating. We were next to the staircase & kitchen. They did however present us with a beautifully decorated sweat plate.
