Great meal - and great value for the quality of food, which was outstanding.
Very good food, wine and service. Prices on par with similar quality restaurants.
Wonderful evening, service excellent, food divine, only drawback was bill presented before we were finished. Otherwise, first class, will return
A very pleasant and comfortable evening with enjoyable tasting menu and wine pairings. Staff were friendly and efficient and the ambiance was good.
We were pleased to see the Artichoke gain a Michelin star this year, which we believe was well deserved and overdue!
Amazing food and excellent service
Thank you for a lovely afternoon
Excellent food with great service. Had a brilliant birthday surprise.
Absolutely fabulous food. The least appetising on the menu was a choux bun but this turned out to be the star course.
The food has always been good but since Laurie got the well deserved star everything is top notch
Lovely food. Great service. Try sit downstairs if you can as it was a bit quiet upstairs.
The experience was spoilt by having to share a bench seat with an extremely fidgety woman. In addition, the tables were too close together, enabling our neighbours to butt in on our conversation. Not what you'd expect from a Michelin starred restaurant. Food and service excellent though so if you are only 2 people make sure you ask for a table with two chairs.
Brilliant food. Definitely another visit coming up shortly.
Excellent and attentive staff, good ambiance, we had the 6-course tasting menu, a good selection of dishes and beautifully presented but the edge taken off it with too much salt.
Have been coming here for years - always been very good, but seems to get better and better as the years go by. This was a really exceptional meal, not quite perfect (a tiny bit heavy on the cep ketchup, too much jerusalem artichoke) but very close. Superb skate, cooked just so and lifted from the bones and folded artfully showed there’s a lot of skill in the kitchen, matched by the knowledge of the excellent sommelier.
I noticed nearly all the service staff had changed; the previous team had become familiar and many had been there for a long time. The all-new team were pretty good, though, so not really an issue.
One problem - they now have their Michelin star, which might be the reason we couldn’t get our usual table in the main dining room, and were seated in the sort of corridor-like space directly behind the door and front desk and between two service areas - which doesn’t have quite the same ambience, to put it mildly. It’s a shame, it won’t put me off going back, but I would check the table booked next time.
Service was excellent and very attentive. The variety of food on offer from each menu was fantastic
We had an excellent lunch last Saturday, plenty of menu choices at different price points. Delicious food and great service, especially in looking after our two boys. I am already planning on returning!
Lovely lunch again, for a friends birthday, lovely staff, we had the set lunch which was good, small portions but well executed.
The extras are quite expensive but all good and enjoyable
After eating at the Artichoke since its second year we were delighted to see that Michelin have recognized the excellence of the whole team.
Fabulous meal. The truffle and Lancashire cheese choux was amazing as was the lobster ravioli. Amazing value.
The vegetarian tasting menu was a delight. Enjoyed by all 4 of us, none of us veggies, and one of whom described it as the “best meal “ he’d ever eaten !! Excellent and innovative cooking, unobtrusive service and tables sufficiently far apart to allow for conversation.
Very highly recommended !
Fantastic lunch celebrating my dads birthday. All the in season food superbly cooked, attention detail from both the kitchen and front of house was evident all the way through. The M star well deserved recognition but with or without it an excellent experience.
Brilliant as ever
I would recommend this restaurant.I went with my sister and Husband, we all had the 6 course tasting menu with the wine flight. Each course was explained to us as was the wine for that course. Presentation for each course very good. Couldn't fault the service. My husband said he wants to start going there for lunch once a month, I wouldn't say no to that.
The meal was excellent. The only disappointing course was the baba dessert.
Quality of ingredients was high and the imaginative flavours were outstanding.
Enjoyable tasting menu, relaxing venue.
Artickoke deserves its first Mihcelin star. Innovative cuisine featuring prime ingredients with exceptional flavour combinations. Friendly but professional service.
This was our second visit to the Artichoke and anticipated a fine meal. We decided on the six course lunch tasting menu. The choice was disappointing, while there is undoubted skill in the kitchen, not all the dishes served were easy on the palate. The bread and the skate were wonderful but the beef course was not. One beef dish was good the meat was red to pink and soft the other dish was obviously cut from the end it was brown in colour and very narrow compared to the other dish, not of the standard expected. The remaining dishes were fair but not outstanding. The service was attentive but over fussy and why the forced broken english was spoken when straightforward talking would have been better and easier to understand. The most worrisome part was my partner who was extremely ill a short while after lunch. Not a good experience and not what was expected of the Artichoke I know they can do a lot better. Just a bad day I expect ???
This was our first visit to The Artichoke. We went for lunch for my husband's birthday and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent and good value for the quality but don't expect huge portions. Service was friendly and welcoming and it was busy in the restaurant which created a nice ambience. Would definitely recommend.
Pleasantly surprised by elegantly relaxed ambience despite having a party celebration going on. Food beautifully presented. Ravioli could have been a little warmer. Please be careful of opening too many doors - freezing cross draft for diners. All culinary efforts appreciated.
Great decor, comfy seats, fresh warm bread with great butter and awesome food. The pear dessert and seafood ravioli were highlights for me. Good chat with maître d' / sommelier around drinks and infusions. Cheers All!
Service impeccable, food amazing 6 course tasting menu & wine flight. One of the best meals I have ever had! Thank you all for such amazing gastramonique. Perfect
First visit food amazing, each course really complimented each other, only down was tables a bit close to each other.
Better late than never..
Congratulations on the well deserved Michelin Star!!
Thank you for yet another memorable evening.
Absolutely perfect dining experience! We were lucky enough to get a table at this fantastic establishment following their Michelin star award. The food, wine and service were outstanding. A night to remember!
Service pretty slow, especially early on. Waiting staff difficult to understand. Menu is mostly tasting-menu although food quality is good. Tables awfully close together, so you’re always sharing your conversation with the next door table. Very pricey wine list.
Our evening at The Artichoke was a 70th birthday celebration. The food was excellent, beautifully presented and served in a relaxed and attentive atmosphere. A special place.
What a fabulous evening. The service was excellent, extremely considerate staff that waited on our table. The food was exceptional ! The ambiance of the restaurant is wonderful.
I can never fault it, always great food and service. Well worth the Michelin star.
Expensive but a real culinary experience👌🏼
We really enjoyed the artichoke and the value for money is phenomenal and we will definitely be back!!
Amazing place, amazing food and an absolute great waiter...knew his food, his wines and was very friendly.
Absolutely delicious food! We had the tasting menu with flight of wines for our celebration meal and were not disappointed. Outstanding.
