The Assembly House is a gorgeous Georgian gem perfectly located in the heart of Norwich. We set out to create the kind of establishment we'd love to find in one of the UK's most beautiful cities, one where old-fashioned hospitality is valued, food is delicious and where beautiful surroundings can be found hidden around every corner.
From breakfast where we serve our unique Beforenoon Tea - the breakfast edition of afternoon tea - to lunch which includes Assembly House classics and grazing boards, we're open seven days a week.
We're most famous for our themed afternoon teas which change regularly and are served from noon until last service at 3.30pm daily. As the Home of Afternoon Tea, we also serve some spectacular savoury versions of tea, including Beforenoon Tea, seafood option Afternoon Sea and our cheese-based option Afternoon Cheese. Please let us know your dietary adaptations for vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free or vegetarian teas at least 24 hours in advance.

    It's the multi-award winning service we're famous for: four gorgeous tiers served under glittering chandeliers between 12pm & 3.30pm! Afternoon Tea at The Assembly House is £32.00 for one (£18.95 for under-12s) plus a 10% discretionary service charge. ALL afternoon teas served are themed, other than for pre-booked private events. Your booking will be for one of several of our dining rooms, including the main restaurant. We look forward to you being our guests!     The Assembly House is the home of Beforenoon Tea, the breakfast edit of our award-winning afternoon tea served EVERY DAY in our restaurant between 8am to 11am. Beforenoon Tea makes any day a celebration! The menu includes a slightly smaller version of one of our hot freshly-cooked breakfasts and then the Beforenoon Tea Stand which is filled with treats including a ‘fried egg' mango and vanilla cheesecake and cereal-based cakes and tarts. Savouries include mini cream cheese and smoked salmon croissants, Cheddar Cheese, Colman's Mustard and chive scones with bacon jam, three-cheese toasties and Assembly House sausage rolls. Then choose tea or coffee chocolate mousse. All served with loose leaf English Breakfast tea or coffee!

    This is my third visit to the Assembly House for afternoon tea and I cannot fault it in anyway- the venue, food, service , ambiance, all in my view, first class. Would thoroughly recommend it.

    I was surprised on my recent visit to The Assembly House to find new restrictions on their Afternoon Tea. In the past, guests could enjoy unlimited tea, coffee, or hot chocolate alongside their meal, which added to the experience. However, they have now introduced a limit of one hot drink and one cold drink, with any additional beverages requiring payment. I’ve always appreciated the elegant atmosphere and professional service, making it a real treat to visit. However, this new policy has taken away some of that charm, and unfortunately, it has left me disappointed. Until they reconsider this change, I won’t be returning, as the experience just doesn’t feel as special anymore.

    Food was exquisite, although on the pricey side we feel. We also found service initially excellent, then realised people arriving after us were getting their afternoon teas etc before us. It seemed we’d been forgotten about for a good 40 minutes before our server noticed!
