The Baby Grand
Lovely place for a pre/post theatre get-together with friends. Lovely staff and atmosphere with a special shout out to the pianist!
Very enjoyable evening for pre theatre menu before going to the Kings Theatre ..
This is a great wee restaurant. Great food. Friendly staff
The restaurant were not expecting us despite a booking confirmation from OpenTable! The service was poor and the chefs in the open kitchen were very noisy. Very disappointing.
Food and service was excellent but not a lot of choices on the menu
I visited the Baby Grand in October 2018 and was impressed so this time I booked in advance. When we arrived I asked for a gin & tonic but there was no Beefeater or Tanqueray so I had to make do with Gordon's. We were seated next to the kitchen and my wife noticed that one dish had been sitting on the serving counter for some time. She said to me "I hope that's not for us", but it was and was and was nearly cold when it arrived. It was sent back which resulted in me finishing my meal before hers arrived. The other annoying thing was the noise; maybe it is always noisy on a Friday but normal conversation was impossible. Overall not a great experience!
Excellent service , fantastic food, everything very made fresh. Shall definitely return
The waitress forgot to put our order into the kitchen, causing a big delay. The food was okay, but not exceptional. However my companion did enjoy the meal a lot more than me.
The food was great and big portion sizes worth the money. Couldn't fault the service very attentive not over the top. Cosy would prefer table nearer the door. Bit too tight at the back. Depending who sits at the next table. Apart from that no faults puddings win.
We had seats close to the piano which was an advantage. The a pleasant jazz style. The service was excellent. The railway station is next door which is great for transportation.
First time visit and was very impressed with Baby Grand-ideal before a show at Kings!
I arranged meal for friends prior to afternoon theatre performance. Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived, the reserved table was as i requested, staff friendly and helpful and food amazing. Could not have asked for more...i have used this restaurant many times over the years from morning pre meetings to lunches, dinners or drinks. I will be back. Thank you so much.
Food was average & service was appalling. Will not be back at Baby Grand
Fantastic service and food is delicious, such a lovely wee hidden gem.
Came after a matinee at the Kings for a quick bite. I haven't been for a while but it's still as good as ever. Friendly staff, great food and atmosphere, and happy to tailor the menu for our 5 year old.
Perfect food and service will return and recommend.
Tasty food, friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere.
Lovely pre theatre meal. Excellent service but sometimes over enthusiastic. Not given much time between courses. Felt a bit rushed at first.
Lovely meal - all six of us were pleased with our choices and the staff were friendly and helpful
Great value with the voucher. Very nice service and tasty food. Desserts a bit poor but all other food looked and was great. Nice setting and good atmosphere. Thank you.
Booked our table via OpenTable site which was very easy to do. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good and portions size just right. Was a pleasant evening made even more enjoyable with the beautiful sound of the piano being played.
Great service and food and as our work is next door offered us 20% discount on total bill
Never been here before. Food was really good. Jamaican jerk chicken was fantastic as was the starter red pepper and curried onion soup. The serving staff were excellent. Nothing too much trouble and the piano player even played our request. We had pre theatre menu which was good value for money. Highly recommend as is a stone's throw away from kings theatre.
Friends group often meet here pre- theatre as it is very handy for shows at the Kings theatre. We have always had great service but had problems this visit. The staff were quite slow and inattentive. The waiter tried hard and was very pleasant but did not have a full grasp of English and got a couple of things wrong with drinks and one of the meals. One of the sweets came with cling film still round it having obviously been heated in the microwave. Kitchen staff very quickly sorted our complaints and we were given a free drink to compensate, but we felt it was not the usual high standard from Baby Grand.
Excellent food, we all chose from the pre theatre menu. There was a good selection and the service was efficient and friendly. Thanks
The Baby Grand itself was great, however - we booked via Open Table and the restaurant had no record of our booking, so we were let down by technology, rather than having a table for 2 we ate at the bar, which was nice but not what we booked for. Staff were lovely and had obviously been experiencing this issue all day.
Very nice venue for pre-theatre and lovely food! Service a bit slow but charming waitress. Had to forego the desert because of lack of time.
Booked in here as we were staying in the Premier Inn 20m away. Cosy little bar, really good food and very nice atmosphere. Staff were attentive and service was good. Would certainly go back again next time in Glasgow
Just felt that the place was smaller than it looked on the website, staff were pleasant and we had a lovely meal but just a tad small.
Lovely , cosy atmosphere with a buzz.
Piano music certainly addsto ambience.
Good service without being rushed. Most accommodating as I'm aVegetarian and can be choosy.
Firm favourite . Never fails.
Taste of food marred by the overpowering smell of burnt cooking oil. Table cramped and ambience noisy. Food just adequate
Service was great and food tasty. A bit cramped at the table but I guess that's part of the charm of this cosy restaurant
Good food, shame about the service. We were a large booking crammed in the back and waited ages for our food.
I have been a Baby Grand customer for several years and although I would continue to recommend it to friends the quality and selections on the menu can often depend on the current chef. There needs to be a wider choice and more fish on the menu. Also gluten free options need to be advertised.
I am sorry to say that the current piano player is dire.
Extremely good evening will certainly book again when in Glasgow
Nice Piano player
Tell all my friends
Lovely meal and staff were very friendly and efficient.
This is a small restaurant nestling in the concrete jungle next to the Charing Cross railway station. It could be hard to find if you didn't know about it. We went for Sunday Lunch before an event at the Mitchell Library. It was in perfect walking distance. It would also be good for the King's as it is round the corner.
We had good sized portions of beef salad and wild mushrooms with tarragon. The desserts were extremely good; chocolate parfait and lemon tart.
We highly recommend it.
