Numerous good choices on menu for all three courses. Excellent food and wine choices in relaxed surroundings. A special place for dining with friends.
The menu is varied and interesting catering for most tastes; the food was very good and well cooked; service was prompt all requests were executed without hesitation; the atmosphere was friendly and we were made to feel welcome.
The Bakery has undergone a very subtle revamp and I have to say it looks fabulous! They've also got an amazing and varied new menu! It's officially now our favourite place! The staff are wonderful and the ambience second to none!
This is my first visit to the bakery & I was not disappointed. Good value food & wine / friendly staff too. If I was going to give a negative 👎🏼 it would only be the roast potatoes! Needed to be mor crisper & brown. Overall experience 8/10 !!! Well happy 😊
the bakery is a great find. the menu is not large but it changes regularly and there are nice little twists to the various dishes. one of the nicest restaurants in the area. the staff are helpful and friendly. my only negative is that it lacks atmosphere and is abit bland in decor.
We visit this restaurant from time to time and we have never had a bad meal yet. This was the first time that we had been since the restaurant area had been refurbished. The food and the choice was very good indeed.
The Bakery has recently had a very subtle and classy makeover! It looks fabulous! The best bit is the menu which has also been updated! The selection is amazing and I highly recommend the seared scallops starter and Portuguese skewer main! The chicken just melts in your mouth! If you haven’t been for a while visit you won’t be disappointed! Highly recommended!
Hadn’t been in a while but IMO its the best place for Sunday lunch in the area by some distance.
Five years on from our first visit the bakery is still serving good food with good service.
Used to come here with my family as a child and came back for my Mums birthday. Even better than I remember, great Sunday lunch and wonderful service. Will definitely be returning.
We went for Easter Lunch with the family. We did have a nice lunch, but it felt a bit rushed, with being pressured to order our meal in the bar, even though we'd arrived well before the booked table time of 1.45. Some of the food was very good, and up to the standard we expect ( e.g. the starters) but we were a bit disappointed with the main courses, e.g the fish had a very strong pesto sauce and the lamb was not as tender as usual. However we really like the Bakery and expect this was just a blip due to it being a busy weekend.
We were recommended The Bakery by several friends and happily not disappointed. Opted for lunch so not too busy but lovely and quiet to celebrate our anniversary
This was an ideal place for friends from London and Kent to meet up. We had a nice, big, round table which made it easy to talk and we really enjoyed our choices of starters and main course.
Haven’t been here for a while which I now regret as we had a cracking Sunday lunch. It was Mother’s Day and as you’d expect, it was busy but, the atmosphere was great. Three of us and three courses each plus a bottle of Prosecco along with pre dinner drinks and bread. All lovely, plentiful and filling and all in for £125. This in my opinion is good value for money. Thank you Andrew and the team... see you soon.
Old favourite now with new décor. Same excellent service and quality of menu. Décor gives the restaurant a cosier ambience. Reccommended
First time at The Bakery on a quiet Thursday for a birthday lunch. Lovely broad menu of European classics-with-a-twist, unobtrusive service, and surprisingly low bill. Will definitely return soon!
the bakery is tucked away in tatsfield and offers very good food. although the menu isn't large, there is a nice choice, although as a fish eater, there isn't quite so much of a choice in the mains. interesting starters, with just a slight twist. service is friendly and efficient. good choice of wines and bubbles by the glass. always good.
A very nice family run restaurant with a small but well thought out menu. The food was fine but not amazing but this may be due to a large table that was dining of over 20 people at the same time as us, or the fact it was a Sunday so there were mainly roasts on the menu.
Service was a little slow but friendly.
We have dined at the Bakery many times over the years but new menu disappointing and pricey. No children's menu our kids. Food good but tiny portions. "Selection of veg" consisted of carrots and mange tout. We expected more variety. Served 4 dishes we hadn't ordered due to waiter's mix up. Such a shame as it was my birthday and I wanted a special meal. The bar menu was much more to our liking so maybe we'll do that in future. Also, it was very noisy and difficult to talk.
This was my first visit to the Bakery and I will definitely be returning. A friend and I had lunch in lovely surroundings, brightly decorated restaurant with friendly staff. The skate wing was delicious.
We had a very enjoyable evening, the food was superb, service excellent and the overall dining experience very good. We have been to the Bakery before with friends and will be returning
All round excellent experiance, the bar is friendly but at the same time separate from dining area, staff allways helpfull and food is extremely good already booked to go again
My husband and I agreed that this was one of the best meals we have ever had. We will definitely be coming back!
Our favourite restaurant - well worth trying if you haven’t already.
Lovely location. Attentive staff, although a little stressed due to the amount of people. Very large table nearby had child who didn't stop crying for entire meal, which put us off a bit. There are two dining areas, so maybe the smaller could be for people without children? Just a thought. Food good, service fair, but kept having to ask for things. Very busy as pre-Christmas, so may try another time when not so busy.
Lovely meal in a nice restaurant. Unfortunately we we’re the only table. Definitely will go back again
Considering that there were several Christmas parties going on, the service and food were very good.
It’s a while since we were here but the quality hasn’t slipped at all. A very friendly welcome, great service, excellent menu and food prepared with care and attention. The change to offering vegetables separately did not disappoint as our dishes had adequate vegetables included. We will return again.
We went to the Bakery on a Sunday on impulse with our grown up daughter. We didn't want to eat a full Sunday lunch and they told us we could eat from the bar snacks menu which looked good. We had to move tables to do this which felt a little odd as there was plenty of space in the dining room but it was worth it. The food was exceptionally good. Simple delicious and expertly prepared. We had five dishes between the three of us tapas style and it made a great experience. We will probably try the full menu but I would come just for the bar snacks again!
Very nice restaurant. And just a short walk from home. The service was excellent and the waiting staff kept my little boy (15 months) entertained.
A lovely meal for 2. A really nice restaurant without the tables being too close together and good service from staff. Would like more non-fish choice in starters but overall an excellent experience and we'd be happy to return - which we will.
Very friendly and good food. Bit pricy for the location
Great welcome and good food. Would recommend, rooms also excellent.
Superior menu, well presented, attractive surroundings, personable staff, reasonably priced, a cut above the average restaurant.
This restaurant with rooms serves excellent food and has contemporary and comfortable bedrooms. We had two starters each plus dessert/cheese. Tuna carpaccio, scallops, crab and ginger salad, leeks stuffed with squid were all excellent. Bread freshly cooked was delicious. French Sauvignon Blanc extremely tasty and a good price. Both the proprietor Andrew, and our waiter from Galicia were friendly and attentive! Excellent value for money.
We went to The Bakery and our table was booked for 8.15 pm. Our sat nav decided to take us all around the houses, so we didn't arrive until 9.00 pm. The staff greeted us in a friendly manner and welcomed us in. The food was delicious, especially the mussels. Will definitely be visiting again in the near future. Maria
This is the third time that I have been to the Bakery - the first for my Mum's 50th, where we hired out the majority of the restaurant. The second time was for a family meal and the most recent was with my girlfriend. Despite the differences in terms of catering for the attendees of each meal, every time the service has been absolutely exceptional - it's personable yet not over-exaggerated whilst maintaining the sense of an occasion. Not once are you rushed or up-sold and that's something that all is all-too-rare when eating out these days! The food is fantastic, and having a set menu with optional additions makes it all very straightforward. A restaurant for any occasion, and I will definitely be visiting again at a later date.
Strange Sunday lunch experience - only one other table was occupied, the place felt like it wasnt sure it should be open. Food was only alright compared to other reviews - pate was large portion but tasteless although bread was good, and soup and haddock were both tasty. Roast beef was again decent portion but only alright, vegetables nothing special and a bit mushy.
We enjoyed the evening, thought the food was excellent and the service attentive.
Unfortunately, a child screaming in the bar area about 9pm spoiled the ambience for our Anniversary meal!
Once again a lovely meal with great service. Throughly recommend the bakery. Its great for a pre meal drink.
