We were just in Belfast for 1 day and decided we would eat before we headed back to Dublin. My friend had eaten here before. We arrived early were met by Lovely friendly staff, promptly served. We had tapas which were delicious shared a desert and had a very nice glass of wine. The restaurant is very nice and I would have no hesitation recommending the restaurant to anyone visiting or living in Belfast.

Food was delish - nearly had to be rolled out. Good wine selection at fair prices. The service was lovely - we were late (and rang to warn them) and we were warmly recieved and attentively minded. Great selection of food for all tastes!

My second visit within a few months after a long absence. On the previous occasion (with a friend) I had the beef shin burger which was so good I could not resist ordering it again this time and my wife had it too.
We agreed it is absolutely the best burger ever! Exemplary service as well. We could become regulars as the tapas menu is very tempting.

My partner and I visited The Barking Dog for our anniversary. We have been twice before and we're always very impressed. Service was excellent to start with, showed straight to our table even though we were around 10 minutes early. Staff extremely attentive and pleasant but not overbearing. Cocktails were served sharply and were delicious. I had the steak which was perfectly cooked for me and I devoured. My partner had steak tartare to start and the burger for main, both gorgeous, all finished off nicely with sticky toffee pudding and the apple tart tatin which my partner says is the best he's ever had. Ambience and style of the place is also a pleasure. We left full and happy. Can't wait to get back!

The food was lovely although as part of our main course the chunky chips were too salty for our taste. It has gotten even more expensive as the sirloin steak is now £31.95 which is excessive in our opinion. Starter was nice, we had tapas and the dessert was excellent.

Booked a meal for my wife's birthday - we were seated immediately at a cosy window table and given ample time to settle in and pick our drinks and food. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The food was excellent and served promptly.

It was our first visit back to Belfast for a while, we went to the Barking Dog last February and had fantastic Tapas, this is why we rebooked to go there again. However on this occasion the food was awful, we ordered Tapas and a pasta dish but literally everything was swimming in soy sauce and the pasta was inedible! We did speak to the waitress about it, she just apologised but there was no offer of any deduction from the bill. We really should’ve complained more but typically for me, I’m too polite and don’t like fuss, which I now regret as we just paid and left. We won’t be going back ☹️

Brilliant restaurant. Food was top notch but what made it such a good night for us, was the waiter.
He was excellent - he was rushed off his feet but still went all out to please all his tables. Kudos to you sir, especially after hitting 40,000 steps (This was early in the evening).

If in Belfast and fancy a relaxed place, with great food and people - I would easily recommend The Barking Dog.

We love the Barking Dog. Unfortunately we had a few problems on Sunday.
We tried to amend booking time through open table but kept getting a message saying the restaurant could not be contacted. I phoned 5 times over a lengthy period but there was no answer. I also sent a Facebook message, getting an auto reply. I eventually got through by phone (very close to our original booking time) and there was no problem getting the time changed. No big deal but just not ideal, we were already running late but spent a lot of time trying to make contact.

We ordered some Tapas
The Crab was lovely. So were the Chicken Wings recommended by our waiter.
The Pork belly was terrible. I know pork belly has a mix of meat and fat but these were easily 80/90% fat.
I also ordered the scallop and black pudding starter after seeing it on your Facebook page a few days prior. It was nothing like the advertised photo. I couldn't see the black pudding discs so asked the waiter, he came back to say they are no longer discs but lose crumbs scattered over the plate. I just about saw these, but they were very sparse and very crispy / burnt. The scallop and black pudding mix is a tried and tested combination but this really disappointed with the lack of black pudding. We returned both problem dishes.

Following that, the main course pastas were amazing, as always. Wine was fantastic too.

Our server was very good, friendly and efficient. Didn't catch his name. Tall young lad.

When our bill came down both problem dishes were still on it which we were surprised to see. We queried this and he went to speak to his manager. And this is our main concern. Despite removing the dishes we witnessed a terrible reaction to the news. She was raging, and made no effort to hide her anger at the till. Although she never came to speak to us we could clearly she was disgusted at the complaint. This definitely soured our visit. I wouldn't be as keen to highly recommend the backing dog like I had in the past.

Beef tartare starter was delicious. Wife had scallops with black pudding, also excellent. Sirloin steak was probably a poor choice as it was rather tough and flavourless (which this cut of meat usually is)- although wife thought hers was good. Celeriac remoulade is designed to look and taste like an oriental noodle dish. Coffee flavoured crème brulee was very good. Waiter Steve was very attentive and helpful.

We enjoyed our meal at the barking dog, the choice of starters for us was limited as i am caoliac. Our main meal was beautiful, the staff that tended to us were very accomodating and helpful. The restaurant was nice and we cold hear each other speak. We will visit again the next time we are in belfast.

Go to this spot when you're really really hungry. Burger seemed pricey, that's until I seen the size of it. Wow! I travel all over Ireland, north & south trying different eateries. I grade them on a scale of 1-10.
This being my very 1st trip to The Barking dog, I will give it an 8. We will be back.
