The Barking Dog
Lovely food and evening had here, went back second night for more
Service as always was v good and the food also very relaxed surroundings.
A definite stop for a fun delicious meal in Belfast- Thanks Lonely Planet for the recommendation!!
We had a lovely meal and they were very good at accommodating my specific dietary needs, however I was not impressed that when spending £70 on a meal, I was charged £0.40 for mayonnaise. In a restaurant of this standard I would expect that to be included and very petty to charge for, especially given the meal I ordered, had many of the items missing to accommodate my diet but yet I was still charged the same price.
That being said the food was delicious and the waitress very attentive and friendly, but the extra charge put a sour taste in our mouths.
Food was very good. We had skirt steak and hake. Unfortunately the service was poor. It appeared they were understaffed.
Barking Dog is an attractive restaurant with a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. Service is prompt and attentive. Crab tapas not the freshest (maybe out of a tin?). Steak tartare very good. Sirloin steak average and not worth the money. Cheese board very good. Peanut brownie amazing. Overall not a bad meal but poor value for money.
If you are in Belfast looking for a romantic evening or just a restaurant that will impress your visiting friends and family, The Barking Dog is a go to. There is a lovely ambience with the exposed brick, mismatched chairs and tables and candles on each table. The service is never anything less than attentive and the food. Let’s talk about the food. You will be hard pressed to find a better meal in Belfast. Portions are ample without being obnoxiously large and they will leave you feeling sufficiently full without needing to be rolled out of the restaurant. The tapas as well are delicate and delicious- the servers will be able to advise how many to get if you aim to make them your main meal. Can’t recommend The Barking Dog enough.
Perfect from start to finish! Great food and service!
Staff weren't friendly. Food over priced .
Will not be back
This was our first visit to the barking dog and it definitely won’t be our last , the food is exceptional and very well priced the service was also a stand out with very friendly and professional staff
My husband thought the beer was very expensive and one of my tapas meals was mixed up but apart from that it was all very tasty and very good service, we will be back!
Great restaurant, great staff and great flavours especially the tapas selection
We had a lovely Sunday dinner in the Barking Dog and would definitely go back for the same and to try at another time of the week. Would highly recommend this place.
Great dinner at our favourite restaurant in Belfast. The tapas and the shin burger were brilliant as always have been and the service was impeccable. 100% recommendable.
Steak Tartare and Halloumi for starters were very nice but unfortunately the Black Angus Sirloin was very average and certainly not worth the £32 each. Both myself and my girlfriend ordered medium rare and both steaks arrived medium to well done. When the waitress finally asked us towards the end of our meal if everything was ok, I told her the steaks, although tasted great weren't cooked the way we ordered, she simply apologised and left. Very average service. We didnt order dessert but instead ordered a coffee and a hot chocolate. I thought perhaps these will be on the house after I complained about our steaks but they were not. 2 starters, 2 steaks, 1 glass of wine, 1 vodka and coke. A coffee and a hot chocolate. Bill was £98. The venue is lovely but the food and service very average. We will not go back again based on our first experience.
The food was delicious and the staff were so friendly and fun. Lovely experience would definitely go back and highly recommend!!!
Good food in a nice ambience, suitable for babies too. Positive experience and really nice and friendly staff.
We drove from Waterford to BD for dinner! Well worth it. Tapas fabulous, service great. What more do you want?.
we ordered four dishes. three of them are too salty. i never waste food but this time i just can not finish them all and left half of them. i feel bad about the waste but the food is just unbearably salty. the ambience was not as good as i had thought. it was noisy and everyone is talking loudly but i understand. waiters are great. the candle light is great atmosphere.
but won't recommend this restaurant to my friends.
The Barking Dog was an excellent place for a lazy Sunday lunch. The roast beef was delicious - beautifully seared on the outside and pink in the middle. Great wine recommended too - the staff were very welcoming and helpful especially the maitre d. The pudding special of ameretto cheesecake with salted caramel ice cream and amarena cherries was a great way to finish our meal.
Great spot for a bite of Sunday lunch, food was lovely, service was friendly and great for families too :)
Lovely small tasty portions .. choice of vegan / veg options
Brilliant food and service! A lovely little spot- definitely would recommend!
Great food & friendly staff. Prices are quite expensive for what it is.
Food was great, quick service and helpful & friendly staff. Good experience and would definitely go back. Many thanks!
We had another lovely meal on Saturday night. Waiting staff are very attentive but not intrusive. The food is delicious and we will certainly be back next time we visit Belfast. Tony & Aidan
Lovely place, great welcome and introduction and fantastic food and wine
We were just in Belfast for 1 day and decided we would eat before we headed back to Dublin. My friend had eaten here before. We arrived early were met by Lovely friendly staff, promptly served. We had tapas which were delicious shared a desert and had a very nice glass of wine. The restaurant is very nice and I would have no hesitation recommending the restaurant to anyone visiting or living in Belfast.
Food was delish - nearly had to be rolled out. Good wine selection at fair prices. The service was lovely - we were late (and rang to warn them) and we were warmly recieved and attentively minded. Great selection of food for all tastes!
Lovely place and delicious tapas! We ordered more because they were so good. Nice service also. Will be back!
Outstanding service food and wine. First time and shall definitely be back for more.
Stunning candlelit setting with stunning food to match. Little bit on expensive side however was worth it as the food was glorious.
Excellent as always! Never fails to deliver great food and service.
Really excellent staff, pleasant and understanding
Consistently a great restaurant that deliver great food and service
