Amazing food & excellent service every time. A favourite for my husband & I, the shin burger is amazing, as are the tapas. Also love the new sister restaurant, The Dog Track.
As always good food and service. We shan't leave it too long before we're back again.
Setting and food was great. The only fault was the service. The server was rude and very blunt almost as if he couldn’t be bothered serving us.
Great food, but disappointing that they feel the need to serve some options on a wooden board instead of a plate.
Fantastic dining experience the food was delicious and not over priced. The atmosphere was superb. We definitely plan on returning when back in Belfast. Thank you
First time at this restaurant and wont be the last.Loved the tapas selection.Ambience was great.Staff were really pleasant and very attentive.Made us very comfortable so much so that i ordered a second bottle of wine and we really enjoyed our night. It was a bit expensive but well worth it.Looking forward to returning in the near future
Hands down one of the best, and most relaxed, places to eat in Belfast!
Went to the Barking Dog after a recommendation by a local friend and was not disappointed. The menu can be slightly confusing at first but there are good options for vegetarians. I would definitely recommend the gnocchi accompanied by a glass of Primitivo. There was also a nice starter - arancini - that would live better without the accompanying mayo sauce, as it inhibits the rich flavours contained in the arancino. The espresso in the end was one of the highlights of the dinner. Its sour-ish flavour was distinctive and a pleasure for a coffee lover. Yes, coffee matters!
The staff is attentive and you can notice a 'well-oiled' machine, professional and friendly but not intrusive. The restaurant is classy yet casual which made us feel comfortable after a long day of sightseeing and no time to change our jeans into something fancier. If you have a budget around £25-35 per person I would definitely recommend it.
Very friendly and prompt service. Fish pie was delicious. Small menu but easy to choose from. Tapas were good. Chicken wings were a bit too spicy
Some context to my review - it was a Saturday evening, therefore probably the busiest evening. That said, it was clear every inch of space is taken up with tables (to maximise revenue) which means it feels cramped and claustrophobic.
It is also incredibly noisy which means it is very difficult to have a normal conversation with your dinner companion.
The service was prompt and courteous, and no complaints about the food.
Conclusion: too cramped and noisy meaning it is not a relaxing environment to have dinner.
Warm friendly atmosphere with attentive staff. Selected Tapas as a starter and we were not disappointed they were delicious. Decided on fish for main course which was very tasty and finished off with the chocolate and hazelnut brownie. Overall an excellent meal with no complaints at all.
What had been billed as one of Belfast's top 10 restaurants turned out to be a large disappointment. While the service was efficient and friendly, the food was average. There were 3 menus which was a tad distracting. We ate off the tapas menu. The food arrived within minutes which is never a good sign. The pork was soggy and the crab tasteless. The ribs were excellent but it was clear the food had been reheated and had lost some flavour. The location is nice (adjacent to Queen's University) but there are many better options in Belfast.
This truly is one of the best restaurants in Belfast. The staff are second to none and never fail to deliver a fabulous evening!
The service here was excellent as was the food. In particular the beef short ribs (Jacobs Ladder) on the tapas menu were outstanding. I would strongly recommend this restaurant.
The Barking Dog was absolutely amazing, my partner and I were extremely impressed by the attentive, but not intrusive service, the amazing food and jaw dropping cocktails. Staff were like a well oiled machine, a glass got broken near the beginning of our meal and it was cleaned up so quickly and with so little fuss we only remembered after we left the restaurant. The beef shin burger was honestly good enough to kill for. The starters/tapas were also very nice indeed. I’d recommend to anyone who asks, and also to anyone that doesn’t.
i went here to celebrate my engagement, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming congratulating us and bringing us a free glass of prosecco when we arrive and seated us by a lovely window seat that was very romantic. The service was very attentive but also gave us enough privacy. the food was amazing we had three course and they were all very tasty and i had steak for my main and my fiancee had chicken, both were cooked perfectly. the portion sizes were just right and the food came out hot and well seasoned. the desserts were really good too. all in all in was a perfect night that made our engagement very special! thank-you barking dog, you made us feel very welcomed and relaxed and we will be returning the next time we are in Ireland!
Great overall service. A good choice for vegetarians, especially due to it being the Christmas period when we dined.
Really enjoyed the cocktails, would happily have worked our way through the whole list!
Perfect Sunday afternoon Christmas lunch, food lovely, good service, not rushed, will definitely be back
Lovely atmosphere, fabulous food and service. Gorgeous cocktail!
The restaurant was very cosy and warm with a lovely feel. Service was excellent. We started with cocktails which were lovely. Starters were great, we had scampi and goats cheese salad. My husband had rib eye steak for main which was delicious but very expensive at £30, I chose 3 tapas for my main which were very disappointing. Tiny portions and not very exciting. I ended up sharing the steak. We didn't have desserts or coffees and with a beer and glass of wine the bill was over £80. Overall, a nice restaurant but overpriced in my view and I would stick to the main menu and avoid the tapas.
