The Barton Arms
Sunday: 12pm - 2:30pm and 5:30pm - 9:30pm
I have always been happy with the quality of food I receive from the Bartons Arms. Whether take out or dining in. Always happy to return. The staff are excellent, friendly and happy to give advice at anytime. Thank you. Please keep this up.
Been before good food good beer some portions a little small
Always a pleasure to head here - good-value Thai food as good as you'd get in any restaurant but with the added bonus of an attractive, historic building and a good range of beers. Not in the most obvious location for passing trade but an easy bus ride from the city centre.
Extensive menu and tasty food served by attentive staff. Great for a casual catch up with big/small groups and one of the nicest Green Thai curries I have had in a while.
Excellent Thai food in an authentic real ale setting. Portions were great with a fabulous range of real ales to chose from. One slight criticism was that we were not offered the dessert menu - but it probably saves us from ourselves as none of us were really hungry enough to eat a sweet
Good food, great beer with full range of Oakham beers on tap.
Have been going to the Bartons for years now and the food fails to disappoint. Busy when Villa are playing at home. Arrived early and can normally get seated straight away but did have to wait a little whilst table was getting prepared.
Beautiful ambiance and always great food. The dips and marinades in particular are fantastic, and the meat always tender.
Food as always was excellent. Went with friends who hadn't been before but agreed food was delicious
I have eaten here a few times it’s the best Thai food I’ve ever tasted Ever
We enjoyed the meal and the food was very tasty.
Service was excellent too.
Dine on excellent Thai cuisine in the most wonderfully preserved Victorian Birmingham Pub. The place where Laurel & Hardy, Charlie Chaplin and in more recent history Ozzy Osbourne drank and ate. The Minton tiles and original bar are a delight. There’s a great selection of real ales on tap which marries well with the extensive and affordable Thai food. This eclectic mix makes for a great night out. Absolutely no complaints. Watch out for ‘special’ nights. Wished they did a taster menu but only as we found choosing difficult.
Have visit The Barton's several times and have never been disappointed. The beer food and service are always top notch.
Excellent food, lovely atmosphere, great prices and service!
Tried the Barton Arms for the first time to sample the two courses for £10 from the Thai menu on a Tuesday. Beer was excellent and well kept (Tiny Rebel Brewery - Clwb Tropicana). Food very tasty and could have eaten a lot more - portions good but not over generous on the main course. Good selection of food on the £10 specials menu though. Service couldn’t be faulted. The Barton Arms also do a take away service on their Thai food, and we may try that. We will return but probably on a non ‘offer’ day as the menu is quite extensive. As it was an offer day, the restaurant was really busy and if you’re thinking of going on a Tuesday you need to book in advance.
Great food and ambiance friendly atmosphere, traditional pub/restaurant.
Great service and excellent food. The pub is a stunning architectureal gem and deserves a visit
We had a great time and enjoyed the food.
Service was very good too.
Made a last minute decision whilst staying overnight in Birmingham to go to the Barton’s arms and were not disappointed great food relaxed dining style and a couple of quality ales in a friendly local will definitely be back
food quite but tapas portions do not match the price charged
Went for their Tuesday night £10 menu. Starter of salad was far too spicy hot and crispy pork main course was not crispy just overcooked. Very disappointing.
Fabulous as always, and the £10 Tuesday makes it great value as well
I booked a table for 5 at the Bartons for lunch after a recommendation from a friend. We all love Thai food and the Bartons did not disappoint. We chose the Set Meal C for 4 and then added in a noodle and a main dish. The meal consisted of a shared starter with dips followed by the main courses.
All the food was excellent, some spicy, some not so spicy, but each with their own distinct flavours and nuances. I've had some very good Thai meals in my time, and some mediocre and poor ones, and I rate the Bartons as certainly one of the best, especially when you include their huge range of real ales on handpump. I will certainly be returning.
We took ages over the meal itself as we were looking through packs of old photos but the staff were brilliant. Always close enough to assist, take orders for drinks or remove the empty dishes, but never in your face or hovering which could so easily ruin a dining experience.
The restaurant shuts after lunch at 2.30 and doesn't reopen till early evening but the dining room is still free to use which made the get-together so much better than being unceremoniously moved out at on the dot of 2.30pm.
The architecture in the Bartons is stunning, from the Minton tiled floors to the huge stained glass windows, the sweeping Victorian staircase and the bar with original snob screens. They do tours apparently so we will hopefully be returning for one of these in the near future.
Another amazing meal here. Plenty of choice. Freshly cooked tasty food.
Great atmosphere. Friendly and efficient staff. Cant fault it.
Fabulous fresh cooked food and great ale....... what's not to love?
I have been to this restaurant on two occasions and this was my third. Although it was for my birthday I wanted my husband to find out for himself what it was like as I have rated this place highly. Knowing how he is particularly fussy with his food, I thought I would bring him to the Barton Arms for his first time and of course, knowing his taste he absolutely enjoyed his meal and would definately come here again.
The staff were also attentive and offered excellent service. We also thanked the chef for his lovely food.
Also to mention that some of my work colleagues visits the Barton Arms on many occasions such as Birthday celebrations and even business lunches.
I would highly recommend this venue. Keep up the good work.
Visited Barton Arms for our anniversary. We visit this restaurant a few times a year for lunch but this was the first time we'd visited in the evening. As usual, the service was excellent and do was the food. The atmosphere was also pleasant. Out of all The restaurants in Birmingham, we chose the Barton Arms to celebrate our anniversary and as usual, we were not disappointed. Highly recommended this restaurant recommend this restaurant., beautiful interior.
They reserved a table for 10 at short notice. We were 12 in the end and they happily accommodated us.
Starter platter was unremarkable, but main courses were better.
Wait staff were at tentative.
You allow bookings on here to 1015.
Yet the kitchen was closing.
Meant we had to have startes and mains at same time.
So was rushed.
Food was excellent
I think the building is beautiful, the staff were quite friendly and helpful. We love the variety of Beers. The food always tastes wonderful , but without a starter and a desert it's a little expensive for what you get as a main meal. I had the pork with noodles, my husband seemed to have far more pieces of pork than me. I would have had a starter if I had known how small the dish was. We would go again as we enjoy this type of food.
Great food as always. Thanks for another fantastic meal.
Me and my partner eat at the Bartons a few times a year, this time I took along some friends and they really enjoyed the food and the beer, all of them said they would like to go again. The service was great, nice friendly, helpful people.
We found the staff friendly ,the food was excellent so we will definitely book again .
Attentive and friendly service - good selection of beers - the tiled fresco's are worth a visit in their own right - and on top of that the food was super!
A little gem. An historic pub as hosted Laurel & Hardy in its life time. Not the type of cuisine you’d expect from a city suburb pub but it’s a fantastic place to enjoy Thai food in a ‘traditional pub’ environment. Excellent quality of food and staff super friendly and efficient. Great bar also with great selection of gin
I always enjoy thw food and they are accommodating to vegaterians.
I love the Barton Arms and eat there before every home game at Aston Villa. Great food, lovely friendly staff, very good value....you will go a long way to find better Thai food
I had keemao noodles and they were delicious. The service was very quick and friendly.
An historic pub, with a Minton-tiled interior which needs to be seen. Excellent ale selection from Oakham, and incredulity Thai food. It's not in the most salubrious of areas, but it's well worth a visit.
1ST TIME AT THE BARTON ARMS AND WAS REALLY SUPRISED LOVLEY PUB WITH CHARM AND THE FOOD AND STAFF WERE BOTH GREAT AND THE £10 FOR TWO COURSES ON A TUESDAY, A MUST. DEFINATLEY GO AGAIN.
