The Barton Arms
Absolutely brilliant. Great food and excellent service. Great range of wierd and wonderful beers.
Plus has an extensive vegan menu.
Another brilliant meal in stunning surroundings - great service
Excellent food and service, as ever, at The Barton Arms.
Highly recommended for its excellent Thai food.
I have been to the Barton Arms a few times and each time I have the same meal. (I want to try different things but this is the meal that makes me want to drive 35 minutes from home for! Chicken Cashew Nut) my friend has something different each time and has not been disappointed.
The veggie starter platter is amazing, I love the mushroom toast. However, the deepfried veggies and onion rings could do with not being so greasy :( only thing which is off putting.
Food always comes out hot and well presented. Always acknowledged by waitresses and waiters. Good price too.
The venue itself is lovely. Nice traditional bar theme throughout. High ceilings. Grand staircase. Function room upstairs.
Overall. My favourite thai restaurant.
Fantastic tiled pub decor, beautifully restored by Camra and hospitably run by a really lovely Thai couple.
Beautiful building, very good food, excellent service, very good real ales. well worth a visit. A car park adjacent.
Very nice lots Christmas parties around us . We had great food and what a stunning building!!
Always excellent food, ale and service. We go as often as we can, either as a couple, with family or friends.
Wonderful beautiful historic building
Lovely service and accommodated a last minute addition
Food was tasty and the service was very good considering it was very busy.
Had a great night the setting is amazing lovely and friendly staff and the food is outstanding a must try place can't wait to go back
As ever best value thai food. Beer excellent ambiance fab. Our regular go to when we go to birmingham.
We have always had vegetarian or vegan food and the food is always delicious
Popped here for dinner and a beer before attending the Villa ground V Forest. Great place and food. Villa fans were spot on as well. Highly recommended.
The food and atmosphere at the restaurant is wonderful, the staff can't do enough for you and are always very friendly, the chef personally comes out to ask if you enjoyed the meal, which is always a nice touch as he's a talented man in the art of Thai cuisine. The menu is large enough but isn't so big that its daunting to people new to thai food, also the drinks menu is quite adequate for a few drinks with family a quiet date or a big get together with drinks flowing. All in I, nor anyone I know has ever had any issues with this bar/resturaunt truly a gem.
Overall good but atmosphere could have been better (background music). The place has potential to be a popular spot for the trendy crowd as well. The food was good but could have been slow cooked more to blend the taste (more veggies in curries too) and the starter choices could have been more varied but good value and good portion sizes.
Beautiful place with amazing food. Good value, love it.
Tasty authentic Thai food in a beautiful Victorian pub. Unusual but delightful, a diverse beer selection and good array of wines. Worth a visit, I will go again.
My wife and I love eating from here. Fantastic food and service as always! Massaman beef curry...amazing
Very good food (if a bit pricey) and excellent service from courteous and helpful staff. Good selection of Real Ales.
BUT Gents lavatories stank and some of original (Grade 2 Listed) fixtures and fittings were broken/tatty.
Great beer, great food and a really good live band....What more could one want?
Wonderful historis pub in the newtown area. Great food and really nice staff who are all thai. Also there was live music from a band called Front Row who were great doing all the covers. We stayed and danced til the end! Great night
I visit this superb pub when I watch my team play a game at Villa Park. The ales are always excellent and the Thai food is very good with a large choice on the menu. It's handy that a table can be booked online. It's a shame that it is only once a year.
Had lunch before match with friends, had a lovely meal from the one plate menu, a few beers just perfect, a regular venue and never a bad meal, highly recommended
I have always been happy with the quality of food I receive from the Bartons Arms. Whether take out or dining in. Always happy to return. The staff are excellent, friendly and happy to give advice at anytime. Thank you. Please keep this up.
Been before good food good beer some portions a little small
Always a pleasure to head here - good-value Thai food as good as you'd get in any restaurant but with the added bonus of an attractive, historic building and a good range of beers. Not in the most obvious location for passing trade but an easy bus ride from the city centre.
Extensive menu and tasty food served by attentive staff. Great for a casual catch up with big/small groups and one of the nicest Green Thai curries I have had in a while.
Excellent Thai food in an authentic real ale setting. Portions were great with a fabulous range of real ales to chose from. One slight criticism was that we were not offered the dessert menu - but it probably saves us from ourselves as none of us were really hungry enough to eat a sweet
Good food, great beer with full range of Oakham beers on tap.
Have been going to the Bartons for years now and the food fails to disappoint. Busy when Villa are playing at home. Arrived early and can normally get seated straight away but did have to wait a little whilst table was getting prepared.
Beautiful ambiance and always great food. The dips and marinades in particular are fantastic, and the meat always tender.
Food as always was excellent. Went with friends who hadn't been before but agreed food was delicious
I have eaten here a few times it’s the best Thai food I’ve ever tasted Ever
We enjoyed the meal and the food was very tasty.
Service was excellent too.
Dine on excellent Thai cuisine in the most wonderfully preserved Victorian Birmingham Pub. The place where Laurel & Hardy, Charlie Chaplin and in more recent history Ozzy Osbourne drank and ate. The Minton tiles and original bar are a delight. There’s a great selection of real ales on tap which marries well with the extensive and affordable Thai food. This eclectic mix makes for a great night out. Absolutely no complaints. Watch out for ‘special’ nights. Wished they did a taster menu but only as we found choosing difficult.
Have visit The Barton's several times and have never been disappointed. The beer food and service are always top notch.
Excellent food, lovely atmosphere, great prices and service!
Tried the Barton Arms for the first time to sample the two courses for £10 from the Thai menu on a Tuesday. Beer was excellent and well kept (Tiny Rebel Brewery - Clwb Tropicana). Food very tasty and could have eaten a lot more - portions good but not over generous on the main course. Good selection of food on the £10 specials menu though. Service couldn’t be faulted. The Barton Arms also do a take away service on their Thai food, and we may try that. We will return but probably on a non ‘offer’ day as the menu is quite extensive. As it was an offer day, the restaurant was really busy and if you’re thinking of going on a Tuesday you need to book in advance.
