Food was amazing definitely recommended and will most definitely go again. Service was great, ambience needs more work to make it a little bit more like a restaurant than a old pub
There was a few minutes between the time of us making our food order after we had our drinks but the time it arrived was quick and it tasted amazing as always.
lovely venue good value for money feels covid safe
The food is very authentic and the service is very good have been going here for years and it's still great
A lovely pub serving Thai Food which is amazing. Location may put some people off as it is in Newton on the A34 but it is so worth the visit.
It is the place that I went to to have my 'last' meal before Covid-19 lockdown in March, and also again for the 2nd lockdown!
We went on Tuesday for their Tuesday special. The food was lovely. We all enjoyed what we ordered. Except for the Papaya Salad. We felt it wasn’t spicy enough and just missed some flavour. However this was all and not a major issue. We would go back but not order again. The staff were great and attentive.
Barton arms is must visit in Birmingham, old historic pub that serves beautiful Thai food, the service and staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was amazing and worth visiting.
Suburb food , excellent service would definitely recommend
Great food great ale we have been going more often to hopefully keep this place open.
Amazing food. The best social distancing I’ve seen in a restaurant. The food was unbelievable. I would go back.
Always great food and service at the Barton Arms ...very quiet on Sunday hope they manage through these difficult times they serve wonderful food in beautiful surroundings thank you To the great staff
I have eaten here many times, the food never disappoints. The stsff helpful and always pleasant. Worth a visit
Lovely food, staff very friendly, would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Me and my daughter took my mum for Lunch wanted somewhere fairly local and accessible forcus to meet up.
The food is of very high standard, so yummy and nicely presented.
Would be nice if they could do something to improve the ambiance, but hey, don't let that stop you otherwise you'll miss out on some top quality value for money food.
So very pleased and the service was lovely, I'd definately go again
Used to love eating here but left a bit disappointed, especially as it's now quite pricey compared to others. Food was not as tasty as on past visits.
We think that this is the best Thai restaurant for lunch time meals; good portions for lunchtime. We have been visiting for many years now.
Main menu is excellent and reflects the traditional Thai cuisine.
Lovely hosts and wonderful settings in a Victorian tiled environment- becoming rarer in Birmingham as so many pubs now being demolished.
We had a superb evening! The meal was outstandingly tasty and brilliant value for money. What a wonderful setting the Bartons is!
Food is 10/10 I highly recommend people try it. The chefs are Thai and the food is authentic
Had a really nice experience at the Bartons Arms. Fast friendly service. The weekday lunch menu is excellent value and delicious and the beers were good too
Beautiful, historic pub where the quality of the beer is matched by the excellence of the Thai food.
The food was of top quality and the staff were very friendly and attentive.
Really lovely place to take in and a fab, home-cooked Thai dinner. Everyone was very happy with their food, great service and a good price.
Been here several times now. Fantastic old pub setting. My wife has never really been 100% convinced on the food and on this occasion I have to agree with her. The chicken in both our dishes (Tom Yum and Pad Thai) had no flavour at all. Seemed like it was just thrown in at the last minute and not cooked with anything to give it any taste of anything. This was a bit disappointing. I suspect we will return when I can persuade my wife to go again, but I fear in terms of food the Bartons Arms may be trading on past glories....
So I would still recommend though with a sizeable 'but....'
great place to eat our - really star food. we love it here
Great food and value for money. Will definitely be back
The Team at the Barton Arms had done a great job with the 'Distancing Requirements' of the current climate. The staff were attentive and not over-bearing. We were pleased to see them quite busy and they were safely efficient.
The food was lovely and the Oakham beers were nice too.
As it has been before, this was a pleasant and enjoyable experience and we'll look forward to going again..
The restaurant seems a little under staffed meaning the main 2 had to work extra hard. The food from the new chef was good and the ale was excellent as usual. We will return with friends very soon.
Service was welcoming as soon as we walked through the door, at first it was thought to be following the Covid ruling but it soon got busier and people was sat on the adjacent tables which were within touching distance. I have to admit I expected the food to be slightly better for the money they were charging. Duct wasn't very crispy and the salmon was obviously frozen as it was watery in the centre. overall the night was nice but for the same cost as a miller and carter it didn't compare. Some times its nice to try something a little different and this would fit the bill. Shame as I was hoping it was nice enough to be going at least once a month as I love Thai food. ideal for party groups id say as its a pub environment and large tables can be formed to suit.
Fantastic authentic Thai food, nice friendly staff well worth a visit.
Good food, great value and good choice. What more could you want.
Loved the Bartons Arms. First time I’ve been in 18 years in Brum! Lovely food in beautiful surroundings.
Excellent food, reasonably priced and good setup of tables and safety measures
Food superb, (which rescued things!)
Table spacing : not (Covid) 2m.
Service: so-so, no different from normal / my expectation.
Website still lists the Tuesday, £10 for 2 courses menu; (Which is even downloadable), but it isn’t available.
The 20% off offer (available in its stead) seemed variably applied, I couldn’t see the basis on which they’d worked it out (in case it didn’t apply to drinks, or desserts, or whatever).
So, go, for the food, but with limited expectations for service / offer availability / Covid spacing.
Food is extremely tasty. Eaten their quite a few time’s and always been extremely happy. Service is very quick and good price.
It was my first visit to the Barton Arms, although I have lived in the area for a long time. I will definitely be going again, the service was fantastic, we were really well looked after. The food was delicious, we chose the one plate lunchtime deal, it was very reasonably priced and lovely.
Absolutely made my daughters birthday special. They went out their way - cake, banners, card etc. exceptional. Dave needs a special shout out as he was incredible as were the 2 waitresses that served us. Such a lovely experience and that staff were superb!
Delicious food in a beautiful Victorian pub with excellent real ale. Kid friendly and good value. Service was ok, but sometimes were not on hand when needed. Overall a great experience and will be back again.
Just brilliant great food and service will defiantly be visiting again
Went on a Tuesday and chose from the £10 menu. Great value and all dishes were good.
An enjoyable lunchtime experience, being real value for money in a traditional Victorian/Edwardian Pub. For those seeking a simple but nourishing lunch the '2 courses' on one plate option offers a lot of scope for choice. Friendly and attentive staff. This is a good place to take someone not knowing the venue, and pleasantly surprising them.
